View Full Version : Is it just me
Hi fellow World Racers,
I was wondering if you also noticed the following things.
I mentioned to SUE in another thread about the tyres needing to get warm to be able to push the car. Is this just in my brain or ist there really something like that implemented in the game ? The first few corners especially in the fast cars are very tricky and I tend to spin quite easy, but after some corners it seems to get better and you can take corners at higher speed.
Is this just that one gets used to the car or is it really the tyres ?
Also I really need to be in the right mood and fully concentrate on driving otherwise I spin/crash or get pushed of the track. This is the first game were I see that racing is a mental thing. I never seen that with any other singleplayer game (maybe a bit with F12002), even listening to the news on radio is enough of a distraction to throw away a top position and loose the race.
Best setup for me is dark room, no music, no pet, no family and telephone off the hook :D :D :D

I don't think the game simulates tire heat, in the XBOX version I can always get the same burnouts and slide around whenever I want. I think it's the fact that you get in your zone where you concentrate harder, that makes you go faster, just like in real-life racing, I've noticed that in any racing game/sim I've played. Try Live for Speed and you'll notice the same thing, you start out slow, but after about three laps you get in the zone and give full concentration to driving.

To finetune each car or engine and tranni type the editor has more than 150 different parameters and settings.
Warming up tires is not included but could be done.

Same here, but I think that MBWR is more affected by this because almost all turns are blind 90°, there're lots and lots of turns and different tracks, and so on...this requires greater concentration to remember all turns, IMHO.

Oh God I'll never be able to remeber all the turns! ^_^ I say thx to the devs for putting in those direction arrows, and especially the colour change when you're coming in a little too fast  That feature is one of the best ideas i've ever seen in a racing game.

Hi DC Geezr
Thats is exactly what I believed is boring in many racing games... after a while you know all curves and corners. Specially the 20 KM long races it is nearly impossible to know allways what is the next corner or curve behind, it needs more intuition and feeling and thats what a Driver #1 is all about. He is fast on all roads and all courses with all cars and he grows.
Also, the changing colors of the curve arrows was my wish to implement... As I am not good enough to win against Andreas from Synetic I needed a sign how the next curve goes and a feedback that chelleanges me to be faster. Gree = too slow, Red = too fast...Yellow = just right to get drifts but not loosing control.

I was just wondering; I've never tried anything except full sim setting, but what are the AI drivers set at??When I watch a replay, they seem to make sudden moves that would certainly send me into a spin.
Oh,and speaking of replays,Tom,could you plz ask that more camera angles be included in the replays next time? A lot of the replay is spent looking at an extreme close up of a rock,or a building.
Many thx! So much fun,and so intense!
Ric :D    :D

Hi Ric
The AI drivers are getting exactly the same arcade cars. In this case they make less mistakes because the car is more stable but if you are at +90 % you push them to the limit and they loose control as you might loose control in heavy situations.
More camera features is noted ! Lets see what we will come up with.
