View Full Version : Some things I dont like

Hello fellow World Racers

I mentioned that I also have a list of things that I don’t like about World Racing. Some are small some are big, but if these features could be added or changed WR would be the perfect game for me. I already mentioned some of the BIG issues several times so I keep them short this time.

Saveable Replays: A great feature to share your most spectacular races or drifts with friends and maybe to validate tracktimes for a recordlist.

A good Multiplayer Mode: We will see about that when the MP Patch is out.

Stats: Online stats may be tricky because of the Sim-Arcade settings ??? But I would love to see proper offline stats for every car/track combo, well maybe not every car, maybe like 1 from every class (that would still be a huge list)

To many similar cars: I know it is still enough variety, but there are just a few cars that stick out from the rest in every class. And I truly don’t understand that there are these -02 versions of nearly identical cars

No Sound on gravel/snow: Would add very much to the atmosphere.

Traffic in Freeride mode: a deserted huge map is very depressing no matter how many Stealth bombers and UFO’s are zooming around you  An empty city map is the most depressing of them all, not even parked cars

A Button to remove the useless flying objects.

I understand that there could not be collision with all the 1000s of trees on the maps, but why not with the ones along the road, or the ones en route for the waypoint mission ?

More Classics/Exotic Cars: I know some people (kids :) ) just want the newest and fastest, but I would love to see older models. Well hopefully MBWR is a huge success and there will be Oldie Addons. I already compiled a quick wishlist somewhere if needed :)

100% Sim does not mean 100% real:
I did test some cars on the Testtrack oval and found out that in 100% Sim most cars have useless high gears and don’t reach the advertised topspeed. The powerful S-Class will reach the (limited) topspeed of 250 km/h but in 4th gear, if switched into 5th it will not keep the speed. Also very poor performace in the high gears. If driving uphill the cars crawl up even in 3rd gear which does not seem right especially for the powerful AMG powered S55 or the V12 S600.
My dad had a C 200 CDI with the same specs as in the game. It was not a good car but it did nicely accelerate even in 6th gear from medium revs. In the game the car reaches topspeed in 4th gear and looses speed when shifted into 5th and 6th.
So it looks like that the higher gears are only there for Arcade mode to go 300 kmh in the C-Class

No real Diesel feeling: The CDI cars don’t drive like Diesels, you don’t feel the huge torque. The drive the same as Petrol powered cars but with a lesser max rev. I have driven several Diesel cars in my live and none of them needed/or could be revved up to the redline to quickly accelerate, they usually only see redline in highest gear :)

A possibility to quickly disable/enable ASR while driving, so that the car does not slow down for you when going uphill on gravel & snow.

All cars of a model range look the same, at least the AMG cars should look a bit hotter :)

All the driving options are stored globally and not for the different profiles. This is especially annoying when there are people that need different settings play the game. I found a way to get around this with a batch file, but it would be nicer if it would be in the game :)

For the missions the required goals (win, at least 3rd, 5 second ahead….) should be shown before the race starts and you don’t have to search in “News” to find it.

Better damage model: a 50% damaged car still drives pretty much like nothing happened, on the other hand you “need” several topspeed crashes to trash it to 50% or higher. Maybe that could be also adjusted with the Arcade-Sim Slider ? I read somewhere that Mercedes Benz did not allow real visual damage on the car, but a 100% damaged car should look a bit more damaged than a parking accident

AI drivers should not drive error free, and make more mistakes from time to time, like crash into barriers or into each other. The only times they crashed was when I was actively involved

AIs should also leave skidmarks on the road.

When starting all cars handle the same, no matter what revs you are starting with (0, 2000, 4000, Full), the revs will fall back, struggle a bit before the car blasts off. Only the G and M Models blast away at the start, the other 4WD cars dont.

You cannot see what cars-models your opponents are driving, would be nice to see before the race starts but should be mentioned at the results at the end of the race.

Thats it for the moment, feel free to add your comments and thoughts.

The AI's crash pretty good in my game
I have their strenght fixed at 85% yet.
Your other points are ok, more or less, what I'm missing most are saveable Replays and all cameras in replays, chase- and cockpit-cameras and those.

And a HORN!

Really, do they make mistakes on their own, or are these accidents caused by your actions ?

I just tried the starting with ASR disabled, and it is a bit more spectacular :) Still no smoking tyres, at least not in the straight line (only in reverse )=) )

Here have some fresh donuts

ASR OFF a complete new way of driving :)

FeZ, I agree to all your points!

Not all of them are important, but many are at least annoying, it would be great to see them fixed.

With Dynamic AI, they sometimes make mistakes on their own. Not often, though, and expecially on very thight "esses" just after the race start: they seem to push eachother out of the road (just like they do with your car  )

All very good points Fez, luv those donuts :nono: but I don't like these errors I get every other time I start the game

It's not a big problem just a bit annoying thats all.

But these burgers I am sure I would not like at all, though they may go nicely with your donuts! ^_^

Sue,

I'm experiencing exactly the same error if I ALT-TAB out of the game and then try to re-enter it. It's an XP and video driver issue, but there's no final solution yet, as for PU before. The only working method I've read of, suggests to revert to some very old detonator driver, but it's definitely not an option for me.

But for sure it's annoying if it's happening every other run of the program! :nono:

I'm running 44.03's and I've never had any of those error messages.-^ Although,I haven't tried alt/tab yet.;)

hi there :) ...

k...just little things i miss:

@ first when it does raning, why is no water on the window(or however U* caLL it)?

http://home.arcor.de/heiliger_mc/private/rain.JPG

and second thing i miss is that the cars don't get dusty when U* driving through it or over snow...

weLL, nothing important...but when U* got the paintwork looking so fantastic why not put some other "make ups" in the game?? ;)

Sue and Corrado,

This problem is easily fixed.

Get an ATI Radeon :rotf:

Oh and about the AIs making mistakes, I saw it when watching a replay, but they should make more mistakes, most of their errors are results of your driving (blocking their racingline, they try to avoid you and hit another car)

Hi to all of you...

The AI is programmed to be fair but does mistakes...

As more as you get into the professional level = 80+ % the AI makes mistakes. The computer will be forced to drive better and better and has the same handycaps as you as a human has.

Below 80% the AI is not forced enough...

Hi Tom well I nearly made it 80% ;)

http://uk.geocities.com/xrsue52/Smoking.txt

I presume you mean the "fixed" setting in game options or do you mean 80+ % progress in the Championships when at "dynamic"?

Sue  :Peace:

arghhhh edited for silly billy typo's!!!

Hi Sue

Yes, as better you are as more you bring the computer into trouble.

You push the AI to the limit and than the AI makes mistakes. Finally you drive against the best racers of MBWR : Synetic :=))) They programmed the AI based on their abilities.

Maybe they shall take my driving abilities to implement more driving mistakes ^_^ ^_^ ^_^

maybe the programmers should stick to programming, and not racing ;).
For me the game became easier the more I advanced, especially with the faster cars in the last races they were easier to shake off than the first few races in the A-class. And the dynamic slider was pretty much at 99% all the time :D

Quite strange, for me it's exactly the opposite ;)

For sure, the more I play the game the better I drive it, and therefore it's easier to make good laps. But since I don't seem to be able to "fly away" from AIs, I guess they're really getting stronger, too. All the last times I looked for it, Dynamic AI was at 99%, so I guess it can't be higher :D

Moreover, the bigger cars aren't much faster than the higher A-class models, expecially considering the overall performance on twisty tracks. I'm using Nevada 14 as training track and the best laptime I got is with the M55 AMG, the second is with the A210 Evo!!! Even the SL600 is not better.

Maybe it's just that track, REALLY twisty  ....but all other tracks aren't much faster!
