Hi all! here's a few thoughts on how to make this great new game even better,IMHO!
Graphics: It looks and runs great, even on a GF3 and P4 1.6 gig.,but many parts of the roads are a bit dark.A Gamma adjustment would help here. Many older games have this already.
Sound F/X: I woould like to hear sounds of driving over broken pavement,or the sounds U hear on a dirt road, like small stones hitting up inside the fenders.Right now driving on the dirt roads on the Alps scenario, there are no distinctive sounds. Same with snowy roads.
Weather: I havent run across the rainy weather yet, but how about one of those enourmous single windshield wipers going back and forth when it rains? on the higher elevations on Alps, there is no snow falling;why not?
Traffic: It would be great to have moving traffic on the roads, especially in the city scenario.an on/off button in the menu for traffic plz!
Too many flying objects! The Area 51 map is just insane with things flying around. A button to turn these off would be a help to slower PC's.
Some simple adjustments for the car performance, like sliders for ride hieght, downforce, and tire pressure, and some tire choices like rain/snow,and racing tires, would be nice.
A horn in ever car! In online racing,a horn is a great way to signal a good race by all or a great time by one racer! A must for MP racing IMO.
Tom if U read all this,I implore U to try NFS 5 Porsche for a day,and lookat the menu set up,where U can navigate them with a mouse, and the set ups for the cars U buy. This is a game many of us have played and loved for years, and has features that we would like to see in WR/WR11.

Very great post Ric -^ -^ -^
I can second pretty much all your comments. I was planning to write a "Things I hate - Things I like" post later :)
Graphics are top -^
Runs fine on my Radeon 8500, 1024 with AA & AF and viewdistance medium. Viewdistance changes not really the distance but has an influence on the shadows of objects and stuff.
I was prepared to upgrade my Videocard for this game, but as it is now I can wait untill X-Mas and hope that prices go down a bit for a toprange Radeon 9800 PRO ^_^. With that it will look even better, I am sure.
I found a trick to increase my 3D gamma with a hotkey from my ATI driver, I know that does not help you with your NVIDIA but maybe there is something similar ?
Sound F/X
Very true, gravel would be nice, also sound that changes its tone when driving into a tunnel. I like the no noise when braking on ice & snow, but that in reality also has a certain sound that would be great.
Weather:
I like the different weather, a bit of snowfall on Alps would be nice indeed :)
Traffic:
I dont mind no traffic while racing that would be too much, but freeride requires some sort of traffic. The Game Mafia had also 1 giant map and massive traffic, so that should be possible for a PC Game. Mafia was designed for PC only so they did not have to worry about the limitations of the console-crap
That flying objects, dont seem to eat too much resources, they are not part of the landscape. When you press "V" all freezes, just the planes keep on flying ???. Some kids like that stuff for sure but a button to disable it (or an INI-hack) would be highly appreciated.
Car Setup:
I dont mind the just stock setups, spinning wheels on snow are fun.
Horn -^ <honk><honk> must have.

I really hope Tom is reading this forum, it would be great to have a patch including some of those requests ;)
I just wanted to add my 2 cents to your good list:
Sound FX:
The player's engine sound seems to be too low compared to the other car's noise and the volume adjustment seems to affect both together. At race start I can hardly hear my own engine!
Setup:
I DON'T want set-up adjustments and/or car upgrades. I like the actual realism of these Mercedes cars....a Mercedes is not a car you would tune in the real world. And, honestly, tuning in NFS-PU was only a joke, once you bought all upgrades and set the sliders at maximum left or right it was finished...except some rare exception.

You're right on both counts Cor,but maybe some rain/snow tires that actually work, would be useful.
I agree with the engine sounds.I can hardly hea my own over the racket drom the other guys,so I keep on having to take my eyes off the road to glance at the tach.

I would like to see in future, the possibility of a clutch being implemented, for cars with manual gearboxes (eg 1955 300SL Gullwing).
This feature should be able to be assigned to either keyboard button, steering wheel button, or a specific analogue clutch pedal (some steering wheel controllers feature this).
Has anybody tried to mess around with the settings in the SampleVolumes.ini in the WR Folder ?
These looks like some sort of volume control for the environmental sound effects ?
I have not tried it yet.

YEAH! That's it!
I've changed the following line (player engine):
SpielerMotor=70
(it was 40 before) and now my car's engine is finally covering the other cars -^

Thx Cor ,and FEZ! I checked mine, and it was set @ 30! the other guys,at least I'm assuming the one below was the other racers, was set @ 20. I increased mine to 60,so we'll see how that works.-^ BTW,I went into the depths of my vid card (GF3 200Ti) set up and found a tab for brightness, colour depth, and GAMMA! I had never even noticed that before! I increased slightly, the gamma and contrast, and I'm going to fire up WR and see how it looks, and sounds now.Thx again u guys!
