(from Vardö / Kirkenees all way down to Moirana, which isn't really south, but anyways.) SO I have south left, but Haven't find time for that yet. I know there's some very interesting things to see in south.(like 'Spiraltoppen') ;) chris 10-02-2003, 01:03 AM Very nice photos. :) Wazza 10-02-2003, 02:36 AM great pics :) [SK]hi-C 10-02-2003, 03:00 AM very nice pics:) [SK]hi-C 10-02-2003, 03:03 AM LOL@warrens signiture pic Sepecat 10-02-2003, 10:30 AM Very Nice Pics -^ George` Wazza 10-02-2003, 10:36 PM One question - those pics were with a panoramic camera? Or you just cropped the height of them? I have a few decent high quality pics, I wouldn't mind sharing, but when I'm on 56K, and no where to upload to, leaves me with few options. PS. Hi-C - what are you laughing at? The pic as you say? Or the text Nappe1 10-03-2003, 02:13 AM Originally posted by Wazza One question - those pics were with a panoramic camera? Neither one. all pictures consists several taken pictures which have stitched together with Panorama Factory 2.4 Camera is few years old Olympus C990-Zoom (3x optical, 2.1 Mio pixels) WCOutlaw 10-03-2003, 08:07 AM Wow Lasse, they're some nice photographs   I like the view you have from your balcony through the trees onto the water area, etc. - looks so lovely... :) Wazza 10-03-2003, 05:31 PM Friggin, heck, that's quite amazing then! I can't see no stitch point, not that I was looking. I have a new camera, which I got beginning of September. A Sony V1, 5 Megapixel, 4 times optical... Done some cool shots so far, and still learning. :) Nappe1 10-05-2003, 03:15 PM Originally posted by WCOutlaw Wow Lasse, they're some nice photographs   I like the view you have from your balcony through the trees onto the water area, etc. - looks so lovely... :) that "water area" is in matter of fact Finnish Gulf of Baltic Sea. :) and yes, this place really is nice. (and it took pretty long I get this flat. :) ) about 4 km from Kotka's City Center, 15 mins walk away from my School. (Polytechnic) Railway Stop is about 15 mins walk away and Bus / Coach Stop can be find with in 10 minutes walk away. Nearest small grocery store is located less than 300 meters away. (so yes, these are only best ones. :) ) I have been photographing around 12 years, but only 2 years with digital. (I still have old film camera too, but I use it only in special occasions, when my digital becomes on the limits.) keep shooting... and especially take photos from everything! just shooting few things you won't develop as well as taking all kind of pictures. :) as my "normal" photos, there's my old picture gallery too: http://rp-design.totalnfs.net/photos/ Radical-Al 10-05-2003, 05:45 PM I'm guessing that because of your love for nature, that inspired your interest for making tracks instead of cars ;) Wazza 10-05-2003, 09:34 PM That's all pretty cool. I've enjoyed cameras as long as I've known.. except I've just never had my own camera, until a month ago :) Actually, my mum bought me a cheap $20 camera once, which I used, then she took it off me, saying she wanted it. Only a 35mm film.. When I was on scout jamboree in Jan '96, I went photo crazy, taking pictures of every scenery shot possible. Here's one of the pics I took those 7 years ago... I was only 12 at the time. Not the best quality pic, but the scenery around New Zealand's South Island is amazing. Radical-Al 10-06-2003, 03:06 PM Reason why I am not a nature photographer because its almost impossible to be one here in this city, considering its the biggest city in the US in landmass... all we have for stuff is buildings, buildings and more buildings and I don't want to take pictures of buildings that are different.. not my style ;) Nappe1 10-06-2003, 03:29 PM Originally posted by Radic-AL Reason why I am not a nature photographer because its almost impossible to be one here in this city, considering its the biggest city in the US in landmass... all we have for stuff is buildings, buildings and more buildings and I don't want to take pictures of buildings that are different.. not my style ;) umh... I leave in city too... (well actually here we call "city" when you would saying town. :) Kotka has population around 50 000) well, umh... if I recal right you have great parks on big cities there. why you don't take a walk on one of those some day. usually problem is in nature photographing that you just don't see great things that are too close. you really don't need to go Yosemite National Park (though if I ever hit the States, I'll go there, thats for sue. ;) ) to se some great, lovely scenery. :) The Problem is that it is just too close to you, so that you could notice it. Even City streets with trees on sides can look really nice, if you are in right place on right time. :) anyways, it is not what shoot as long as you like it, but taking all kind of shots will open some closed doors when trying to capture car on film that passes you about 320 kph and you have something like 1-2 second time frame able to success. Not the best quality pic, but the scenery around New Zealand's South Island is amazing. well, I don't wonder anymore why you have down there something called New Alps... :) anyways, New Zealand is on my places to visit if I ever get a chance. :) I read Desmond Bagley's thriller novel "The Snow Tiger" that is placed on South Island and I was hooked. (same writer has done book called "The Tightrope Man" which is placed on very close where I live. so if you are interested reading books and Nordic countries, it should give some sort picture.) :) Wazza 10-06-2003, 09:39 PM I have Nordic ancestory in my mums side :) So she would be 1/4 Nordic, and I would be 1/8th? Don't know exactly what part... Norway, Sweden, Finland.. somewhere in that area.. the name apparently came from the Vikings period. "Nevard" - I think it's this name New Alps? as in a place? Southern Alps, is the mountain stretch for probably 600km, or most the length of the South Island! Just look at the opening shots of Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.. that's the Southern Alps.] PS. Perhaps I'm going away to Mt Ruapehu in 2-3 weeks... Ski mountain etc.. largest ski area in NZ, 3 mountains in the area.. Mt Ruapehu is 2700 metres high... I climbed up the neighbouring mountain, Ngaruhoe, but it was in very desnse cloud...could only see about 20 metres in front of us.. we couldn't even see 50 metres down into the volcanic crater!! Was summer at the time, so no snow. http://volcano.und.nodak.edu/vwdocs/volc_images/australia/Ngauruhue_65.jpg - It's slopes I recall are a constant 40-43 degrees... and to think I climbed it with a heavy backpack on... Last year a friend of mine was climbing this mountain, or a nearby straddle, and he slipped..went rolling down the rocks, bowled into a teacher, who was standing near the edge of a 100metre cliff...had the teacher not been standing there, he would have tumbled off the edge.. Still had bad cuts to his face, arms, legs, and needed hospital treatment. Shucks Wazza 10-06-2003, 09:41 PM Some more info on this mountain: http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/seg/hazard/stratoguide/ngaurfact.html Anyway, the idea of posting this, is well, maybe in 2-3 weeks, if I do go, (after buying a new memory card!), is I could have some great shots of these mountaints and the acidic lakes, and other attractions :) |
