The official photos are rather big, so I just linked the thumbnails - you can see the fullsize pics at Pistonheads.com. (http://www.pistonheads.com/porsche/default.asp?storyId=3961)

Maybe its styling has to grow on me and all that, but right now I can only hope for Porsche that it drives like a dream... because IMO no one is going to buy it for the way it looks. =[ More interesting maybe is the new 4,5 liter V8 Porsche developed for it, with 340 hp and 310 lbft of torque. Another article on the Cayenne is here. (http://www.cardesignnews.com/news/2002/020309porsche-cayenne/index.html)

edit: I forgot to mention that there's also gonna be a 450 hp Twin-turbo model, torque: 457 lb-ft ...

Cripe, that looks like a Pontiac Aztek with the nose of a Porsche 911 for crying out loud! It's not for me, that's for sure.

I know its based on the VW Tourag, but I pefer the Porsche design over the VW. Its just a station wagon that is higher just like an X5. I don't really like it.
Heres another article (http://www.vwvortex.com/news/03_02/03_05/index.shtml)

I think one word describes this car, ugly. It just looks stupid, they threw a Porsche front on an ugly station wagon. Jeez, good job guys. I mean seriously what were they thinking?? :slap:

It's very dreary.. I've been whinging for a long time about the new direction of Porsche styling.. The last great Porsche's were the 993 Series of 911 from 1994-1997, and the current Boxster which is pretty cool, and modestly affordable considering it's a Porsche..

I would never by a Cayenne, I could never be seen in a car as awful as that.. I would however go for an X5, preferably the 4.4 litre version, with that lovely V8 engine.. It just begs to be given a hurry along.

Saw this car (Fiat Seicento Sporting) on the streets here earlier this week, somehow reminded me of a mini Cayenne. Well, maybe that's just me. ^_^

That car looks okay cept the rear side windscreen looks lower then the front of the car. But otherwise Looks good: plus side its a porsche and therefore a chick magnet, lol but everyone else hates it and porsche will lose money I'll get the VW version and badge it with the porsche stuff and panels.

Speaking of Fiat cars.. Has anyone seen the Multipla.. YUK!!

That has got to be the most repulsive car design I've ever seen.. And the interior is crazy.. Too over the top..

I'd take the VW Tourag over the Porsche. The interior looks nice also.

Ashwin91: The Renault Scénic, and the Opel/Holden Zafira are proof that practicality need not look ugly..

The Scénic is quite a neat little mini MPV, and the Zafira's exterior looks good from any angle.. Though the interior is ultra conservative and very bland.

The Scénic though is more attractive than the average box on wheels, and, not a bad drive either.. You'd never run out of storage spaces in the Scénic.. They're hidden everywhere.. In the rear floor, under the rear seats, there is a drinks cooler in the centre console, plus a whole heap of other handy storage spaces..

The Mercedes Benz Vaneo is not a bad little car either, from what I've seen of it.. But I believe that it comes at a premium price compared to the others..

Link: http://www.mercedes-benz.com/

Try the beautifully designed Mercedes-Benz world-wide site. (Click the link for World Wide English, or, Weltweit Deutsche if you speak German)

Look for Mercedes Benz Vaneo. You'll see the link to the Vaneo web-special on the Main page, on the right hand side. Or, choose Compact Vans -> Vaneo.

It's basically a longer, smarter, Estate version of the A-Class.. Fairly smart, and practical. Has a maximum cargo capacity of 3000litres. It's brimming with quirky character..

Here is another link to look at:
http://www.mercedes-benz.com/e/cars/cl/default.htm

View the web-special at the above link also.. Very effective use of Macromedia Flash technology, and, very good use of music, appropriate in theme to the product they are advertising..
