Hello my poopsies!
As the dreaded day of doom draws nigh I want to at least try and do something to save some shred of the fun we've all had racing Porsche Unleashed online. Since IP play is going to be the only avenue left to us, and since I have a background in online forum host management, I'd like to invite one and all to help me out by being a part of my barely-sketched-out plan to develop an IP Race schedule.
"How can I help?" You ask... (eagerly, I might add.)
"Well", says I, "You can help by volunteering 2 hrs a week at a set time, to host an ip pit."
ok ok you get the idea...
Here's what I'd like to do, and I'm posting this at nfsc too, so hopefully we'll get a pretty good turnout on this plan.
1. I'm collecting as many e-mail addresses as I can to put on the ip racing mailing list to mail a weekly schedule to.
2. I'll collect all the information of those who wish to set a scheduled time up to race and mail that information out once a week, as well as post that schedule on tnfs and nfsc IP race boards.
3. YOU, (those who volunteer) will choose a time convenient to you, that you can be online for a minimum of 2 hrs, once (or as many times as you like) a week.
It's pretty basic. As a PU Host you'd be expected to come online and open the ip pit, then cruise over to both tnfs and nfsc and post your ip connection# on these message boards to let everyone know you're OPEN for business!
If you can't make it, well you can't make it and we all understand that ppl have lives outside online racing but it would be nice if you know in advance to post that the pit won't be open at x time.

If you have ideas to make this work better, post 'em here, or if you want to be on the mailing list, or if you want to be a HOST, please email me at lupinespirit@icehouse.net

and wouldn't it be just a hoot if this idea takes off, and EA hears about it, and realizes that we were serious about them stuffing MCO up their corporate assets!

Vic,and all c'mon lets do this!we can still have mega fun online with this game,if we work on it together. If enough of us are willing to host, there will be IP races available virtually around the clock! Ric,aka Geezer, aka Me.:D

Ok, my first post. Hope this goes well.

Not that posting and hosting is a bad idea, it's just that perhaps a better idea is to use a dedicated chat room. We can use Microsoft Chat or some other irc client to access a particular server and room that is open all night. That way we can maintain some larger sence of community that the current servers provide.

Hey just a thot. Let it grow.

Excellent idea, like some sort of "replacement-lobby", would be nice eh :D

hey,i`d be glad to host. i have a very good ADSL connection,so i will be a reliable host for sure. and i pretty much stay connected 24/7,apart from the occasional restart of my computer. but only one problem...how the hell do i do it? what program(s) do i need? anyways, great idea and i hope it goes through, caus i`d sure as hell like to race PU online,as i have never gotten the chance.

I'd be glad to do whatever I can Vic.
I am also very anxious to see how NCOPS works out.
That may simplify matters greatly.
I'll be busier than heck the rest of the week, only hope I can manage to squeeze in some PU time while the servers are still up.

:D
