on your giocattolo's caption it said there were 50 made but there was only 15 made

Taken from the judges web site (www.twinturbov8.com):

GIOCATTOLO "Italian for TOY" History

Only 15 of these cars were ever built including the police car pictured below !

"In early '86, Paul Halstead, exoticar entrepeneur enlisted designer Barry Lock to work together on the project of converting a regular Alfa Sprint coupe to have the GTV6's 2.5 V6, and driving the rear wheels. By the end of '86 the car was ready to drive. It performed well, with major modifications to almost all the components of the cars structure. The front suspension was mostly Alfa, the disc brakes were replaced with ones from Brembo, the transaxle was ZF and the rear panels were done by Lock, who also reinforced the rest of the chassis.

Trouble eventually occurred when Alfa Romeo were sceptical about continuing supply of the V6 engines, and when the 3.0 Litre V6 was finally imported, it proved too expensive. Then later, Alfa stopped Sprint imports into Australia.
So, it was eventually decided by Halstead and Lock to opt for a motor offered in the General Motors Holden Commodore (an Australian variant of the Opel Omega). The engine was a 5.0 V8 which had a power output of 220kW and roughly 500Nm of torque. The result was a car which was 1085kg in weight and quicker than a Countach to 100km/h and only slightly slower than a Porsche 911 Turbo over the quarter mile. It had a top speed of 240 km/h.
The handling was said to be superb. Unfortunately it did not sell very well, but at only A$80,000, it was a real bargain. In 1989 the venture died, and only 15 cars were ever built, but during that time, all the cars were produced in V8 spec, including the first original."

From Kevs Website
It was based on the Alfa Sprint body, but instead of the front/sideways mounted 4 cyl engine it boasts a Holden V8 5litre kidney puncher. Add to that mega wing and moulded body scoops, this 2 seater sports car is really something different.

i wonder how u ever thought of that, that is a quality pice of writing (insert sarcasam here^_^ ) sorry mate but you would be cut if someone stole your stuff and now your stealing from the dead (though there is no proof he actuly wrote it).

you can use this one

One of the greatest ideas an Australian company has ever had, this Alfa Romeo Sprint based coupé rockets along with the help of a mid mounted 5L fuel injected holden group a V8 putting out approximately 220kw. Although a great idea not everybody thought so and of the 50 planed for production in the first year only 15 where produced and all but one survive to this day.

l saw a HSV VS GT-R yesterday, it was going down the street well over 100KM/h (on a 40KM street), it was the first one l saw in real life....... it sounds almost like a V8supercar, just a tad softer.........

as l went inside my house, the car roared back up the street, if only l saw it for the second time.

maybe Y2k could back me up with this, but there is alot more HSVS-holdens in my area than FORDS, y2k is near my area, what does he think?

Matt -

sure! You would have seen the car. just the same as I've seen quite a few Monaro's in my town. Especially that CV8 doin 40 Km/h up the main road!!!

I have never acctually seen a GT-R on the road but they are around, so it wouldnt surprise me

And if you live in like a quiet back street (not a main road) then of course the drivers going to do 100 + !!!
