Glad you all like MM so far. Here is some technical stuff:

With all driver, interior and stuff it's still only 6000 polys, most are in the 3D wheels @ 750 each, but the main body is only 2K (quite economical for the detail). i created the texture by applying a shiny black material to the mesh and doing an 'alt-prtscn' from side and top and pasting that into the tga. this gives a light bounced effect, but without the reflections you get in a photograph. i'll be interested to see how it turns out in-game.

now we're on the same wavelength, the vidwall is a small file .qfs that consists of two bitmaps (im not sure what the second one is suposed to do, but it's 'non-text version' or something.

you will need:
fshtool or qfs_suite (i recommend fshtool, cause it works well in windows)
photoshop or paintshop

they are all stored in Fedata/Vidwall and the filename reflects the car's ID name eg bmw5.qfs goes with the bmw m5 sedan.

double click a .qfs file and tell windows where fshtool is (click 'other' to browse for it), edit the pictures to your new car. double click the 'index.fsh' that fshtool extracted from the qfs and once again, choose fshtool (should be at bottom of the program list now). it'll compile the qfs, just copy it to the above folder.:read:

Max is overdue, i know. i was trying to make an internal view cockpit but that is too hard i will abandon that idea.

the car is made entirely in 3dsmax4. will definately do a mm2 version complete with dirt and tanks.

well, there are a lot of dirt roads around here, after driving my old subaru leone coupe on a lot of them i jumped into my brother's VC valiant. Boy, do them things handle well on the dirt, bumps, potholes, cow pats, etc. compared to my old white ricer.

i imagine the same thing about your xy, it built for australia when most roads were dirt (outside cities) and they built to handle it.

mine wasn't when i got it!! on the front it had the origenal shocks from 1970 on the front with stock springs so i changed that with new shocks and red coloured springs that are bilt for a V8 and i removed the old saberlizer and put on an Inch thick one on!! that would keed the front on the ground!! i haven't dont any thing on the back yet!! i am getting spring assisters off of my sis's XY!! an the Extractors man even though my car is only a 6 it will kick the ass off of any holden!!

motor debates are cool: from the first V8 holden made their own engines, untill 1999 when VT series 2 opted for the brilliant GEN-III holden were making their own 253's and 308's in house.
the ford "5.6" is actually a 302 windsor stroked to 5.6, this means that with hardly any modifications ford have been using a 60-year old motor.
to get 250kw out of this dinosaur, ford have to have one person rebuilding one engine from the ground up, even going to the extent of engraving that engineerers name on the rocker cover.
if holden had one peson on each motor, stroked the 5.7 to 6.2 and did everything they could to get optimal performance you would be looking at a 500hp injected V8

Considering the internal combustion engine hasn't changed all that much since they invented the 4-stroke, that isnt really much of an insult. i mean apart from induction, cam position and cylinder shape, there isnt' much difference (mechanically speaking) from the latest gen 3 and the original model T ford engines (give or take +-290kw of power, :) ). They all have pistons, valves, crank, etc.

If you want to talk modern engines, forget those dinosaur engines and look at some of the new hybrid petrol/electic engines. (of course nobody cares, cause they suck)

with the torque thing, 25nm is around 4 people's strength, it wouldn't do much for it anyway. Ford made the engine to get torque, but that torque is at a higher rpm.
