So, I came across a converted to F12002 version of the GPL Nurburgring Nordschliefe, and, decided to try it.
Quite fun, I admit, especially in the Ferrari 360 GT (Lamborghini Murciélago has nicer power, but, too wide, and large).
But, I must admit, I don't like how this track is, from Bergwerk, through Kesselchen, then the Angstkurve, and, finally to the Steilstrecken Kurve.
That really quick section from Kesselchen (pronounced kesselken) through the Angstkurve, with that really challenging little crest, before you hit Steilstrecken Kurve, is just not as good on this one as it is on the most modern tracks.
Wipperman is still fun, though, as is the run from Aremberg, through Fuchsrörhe (foxhole), to Adenauer Forst (Adenauer Forrest). You can really get some good speed through the Fuchsrohre, but, you have to be so precise, for the next left hand sweeping turn, that is immediately followed by the sharp right at Adenauer Forst..
I'm not going to give the link out, just yet, but, I think I might upload it, somewhere, instead, since the original server is under a lot of stress. But, I must get permission, first.

Thank's for tips Chris :hyper:
downloading now :epink: :epink: :epink:
Just a warning, though. This version is way different to what you might have seen, in modern videos, from Antonius Buche, through to T13, and, further on to Hatzenbach.
But, however, the well known video of the Ferrari 360 Modena doing a lap of the GP circuit and the Nordschliefe, is handy, as a guide, for how fast to go, on some of the turns, and, what gear to be in.
It was to be found on the site of the late Jorund Seim.

Also, a new AIW file is available, too.

I did a lap earlier, but the elevations seem wrong to me. I am going up when I should be going down etc &(
A guy on the RSC GPL forum posted a link yesterday and some other guys have posted links as well. It seems to be popular track :D

But, it is good though, until the SBDT one gets released.. (Could be a while, though).
The SBDT one, that is based on the modern Nurburgring, will be most enjoyable.

Wow, I did 12 laps in the 360, and I think I got a dvd of a team doing a lap at this very course driving in 2 Porsche GT3's and one ordinary 993, thank's alot for the link anyway Chris :D :HB:
The rough surface and the tight road with all the wierd combos and blind views makes it feel like my "homeroads", what a beauty of a track
I certainly can live with this temporary green hell until the real one comes out  :HB:

I tried a lap in a Ferrari in the Turbo mod
That was one scary experience. The corners literally rush at you. My reaction times just aren't up to it

You thought the elevations were wrong Dave? I kept putting this off 'cause I had other things to do, but it appears that in the conversion from GPL they changed nothing. The point-of-view might change what you thought about the GPL elevations, but to me they seemed exactly the same.
As to how true this version is to the real modern Ring, I can only comment that when I see an onboard video of a modern lap, I know the track well enough that I know exactly what is coming when, and it is pretty close (except the whole start/finish area of course). I think the GPL version is close enough that it is going to be very easy to adjust to the SBDT version.
The biggest problem that I had on this version in GTR2k2 was that in a couple of places I automatically tried driving it like a '67 F1, which doesn't work so well in a 360GT heh. :help: My third lap was pretty clean until the end when I tumbled over the barrier coming in too hot for the final left-right-left.

Hey Mysh, maybe that is why I am hopeless at the Ring in GPL - I think I am going up when I am going down &(

Since there have been so many mentions, here's a report on the SBDT 'Ring.
Our boys have taken the GPL version and given it a thorough working over. It is now much smoother and very fast.
We are now hard at work on the various scenic elements that really define the character of the track.
I can't even begin to guess on a release date.

About the reality in the beta-ring;
I watched a dvd-movie, 3 Porsches (GT3) doing 1 lap.
IMO the virtual version we use now (beta) is a very "kind and gentle" issued compared to the real thing.
The real track seems to be tighter in many sections, maybe in a range 0.5 - 1 meter tighter, and more bumpy &(
The kerbs (a great lot of them) at the real track is much higher, maybe 20-25 cm high, and they have a very sharp angle, makin them impossible to drive at (or at least very dangerous), the pro-drivers in the movie with the GT3's was staying far away from kerbs (only some few exceptions).
My wish for the final version is;
Make it as real as you can :D &( , make it harder than the beta 8)~

The other thing that puts me off, about this version, is that some corners, are faster, than they should be.
Exmuhle is one of those, that I think isn't quite right (unless it has been slightly changed now). Now, it appears slower, and more difficult. But, some parts of the newer track, appear much smoother, than what we have, here.
Not super smooth, but, not the low-polygon rough sort of thing that we've got. But, still, what we have got, is better than nothing. :)

I just did 3 laps with the Alfa 147, used a setup with 220 km/h as topspeed (just a tiny tad over a standard streetcar), and I came in at 8.45 on 3rd lap.
My pb in the Modena 360 is 8.28 (some flaws still), but look at the small timedifference!
At this long track, with so many hispeed "straights", I was only 17 sec behind! :D
I wish there was an RWD-car with 200 bhp without turbo for this game to compare with the Alfa :D (I'm trying to say that FWD is pretty neat at winding roads)
In Carusell I did a exit at 140 km/h in the Alfa (using the concrete), when driving the Modena I'm shakin to the bone when doing that exit in 108-110 km/h :p

Have you tried a Mini ?
My favorites at the Ring are the Group C cars. The Peugeots are a blast there ! I have a shot around here somewhere of me driving in a pack of five at over 190 MPH. Great Fun. :)

Isn't the Mini only a skin over the Alfa?
If it's a own car with different physics, I'll absolutely try it, I love to drive small cars :)

I haven't yet suceeded in getting the Group C cars working. I did get the LeMans cars to work, but I'm missing a critical in getting the Group C cars to work :(

After a GTA Sportwagon for real, some laps with the 147 felt right, my old pb was 8.47, now I cut down to 8.26.1
