For those of you who don't know what LFS is all about this thread is for you.
This SIM is not being produced by some big shot company, this is being made by some ordinary Joe's interested in the gaming world. If you ask me they are doing a FABULOUS job on this Simulator and if all goes as planned they will make quite the buck off of this Sim.
Luckily these guys are hosted by Race Sim Central (an extremely popular forum with over 10 000 members). This has made them quite popular.
For those of you that are still interested (Which I certainly hope you are), you should go visit the LFS Website (http://lfs.racesimcentral.com).
Enjoy!
1. Someone make this a sticky
2. If there are any questions regarding LFS, feel free to post them here!

Yep, I know what it is and fortunately it will run pretty smooth on my PIII / 1 GHz, 256 MB SDRam, 80 GB Hard Drive, 32 MB Nvidia AGP, Cable Modem acess, SB16 PCI Sound, HP Burner and that's pretty much it - oh yeah, a 15" NEC MultiSync 3FGx Monitor.
However................No matter what I do, I cannot get any driving sounds - engine or skidding! I can get the music to play, but prefer NOT to have this enabled because I like to concentrate on the driving.
Anyone have any ideas? I'd much prefer to have the engine and skidding sounds (S1 Demo) before I even "consider" making a purchase.
Shift + W (re-initialize sound) brought my sound back!
Thanks to whomever made that suggestions!

hmmm... i suggest going to the PaceSimCentral LFS official forum and posting a thread about this problem... also make sure when u go to options/audio that the "car sound volume" is set to full (20.0 i believe)
Hope tou get ur problem sorted out.

RSAlt: I had the same problem with the demo but there is no such problems any more for me anyway, when im using the S1 version. Its running perfectly, the only thing there might be to complain about is that it is eating RAM...well i have a AMD XP Athlon 1800+ with 512 RAM and im not sure if u can manage with much lower than that....have to look up the spec in their site to know.

Yea it's very hard to cope with a machine that has any lower specs... I try to run it with my P3 600 but it's very hard since it really goes choppy if it has more than 3 cars on the screen... it's horrible.
Göran how is the S1 version??

Hi Momo
The S1 version is a totally new game. Its not compareable to the old demo S1 is much better and u cant compare laptimes from old demo with the S1 too cause the cars engines and physics are changed a bit. The features included in S1 is awesome for an online racing dude like me and the replay service (in all modes including online) is great. All top times entry is made by doing a hotlap and sending the replay to them so its possible to c the wr replay so no misunderstanding and accusations about impossible times there....
The cars can be very hard to setup, but as mentioned all setups are at the AR site, maybe not the best but we are working on it (read (AR)JJ).
For the relative low price the game has i must say its too cheap, i would easily pay the double or more for a game like this.:D
One of the best features is the "Find user online" option. Just type the username u search for and the game find him/her in 2 sec (if online) There is also an opportunity to check who is online and see all hosts from their site and join from there....
In short words - an awesome game - buy it :HB:
C ya online ( i go by my usual name of (AR)Göran there too.

LFS takes regular credit cars in addition to pay pal.
I got the LFS S2 Alpha version. Now there are some decently fast cars, so it's Live for Speed instead of Live for Slow.

Is anyone here playing this?

I used to some years ago when it started up with the forum hosted at Race Sim Central, and I did have some fun races. It seems like a very good realistic car-simulator with good emphasis on online racing as well as car-setup etc. For instance the tires actually flex depending on grip, bumps, tire-pressure etc.
I think Stig (XR Keys / -otkeys) plays it, or maybe it was someone else, but definately one in here. Not really sure how far along LFS is with the 3-stage plan for the full game-release but last I heard there's a big community around it.
Have fun

I second Görans opinion -- With a few exeptions LFS has the best physics, realdrive-feel and online facillities - IMO. The only backdraw is the engine sounds. Even though they are very accurate in their corresponding with the engine-physics, and even though they have been improved a lot in S2, they still don't sound really good. LFS is the only game I drive online these days.

I bought the S2 license and have put together some custom skins (observe my FOX Tyrrell 019 tribute below). Just got hold of the analysers and the set-up analyser to find some time. Great fun, really enjoying it.

Redline Racing 2 server, AS2, FOX.
There's a wee vid of myself racing Dik Dolan, one of the best guys on the server
Easy track, but very competitive, and always full pits.

I'm also racing at LFS from time to time since this spring or late winter. The most races I do at CTRA servers 'cause there's a good mix of tracks and you are able to unlock with higher levels new servers with faster cars or/and more expirienced racers which also higher the level of racing, less crashing in beginning brings more fun to the finish. :) But lately I have few game crashes when I race online, I don't know if it has something to do with their servers 'cause UKCT/STCC/CTRA made some kind of refound and released a new server system, or if it has something to do with the LFS X Patch or with my installation of WinXP SP2. If I were in the mood to test on other servers...but I'm not yet.
If you are interested in those servers Vat check out http://www.raceauthority.com/ or the serverlist at LFSworld. From what I know is that you may choose from three different servertypes at CTRA servers as public with not being in lincencing system yet. But there are alot of other teams and ways of playing LFS online out, so test them and pick up your favourites! :)
Btw Stig, by calling Göran, if you want to meet up with him you may contact him over AheadRacing's teamsite. I just saw him racing last week from stats at LFSworld.
