I just tried some laps of Imola in the 360 - nice track :)

It sure is fun and reminds me of Interlagos :D I see Mads has a 1:55.914 on the Rank site and seems to be a good time -^ I have no idea how that guy did a 1:47

That 1.55.90 isn't very strong, just pushed it a second down from yesterdays test.
I have a theory about the 1.47, hehe;
It's a dutch dude, and #3 is a italian dude, I bet they knows the track like their own pockets, and same with the mid-engine drivingstyle. I wonder if the lines are clean or if they look "wild" (slight slipangels, spins ++)

The guy who holds WR is at Privateer team, that's some programmers of the F1 mods ;)
The next guy in 360 Modena (#4 or so) is also in a "pro" team, F1 Full Simulation , maybe also a programmer  , anyway he is italian, so he may know the course too

I love this track in the N-GT cars :)

You can sort of rally drive the GT3 around some corners with a controlled slide that feels a little like GPL :D

I might take the Lambo out for a few laps too, but the grip might be a problem in the GT cars

I admit, I've done a 1m:51 lap, in the 360 GT, but, it didn't look too smooth. A very rough lap, and I won't post a replay of it, because of that.

Wow - Nice time Chris -^

I'm still stuck in the 1:53s, but there is a lot of room for improvement

If you can do a smoother 1:51, I would like to have a look at the replay. I have a couple of corners that are giving me some trouble :)

Let me offer a tip.

A lot of time can be made cutting the corners, by running over the rumble strips, especially through Tamburello.

Also, at the Villenueve chicane, you can make up time, but, it must be done carefully. Get it wrong, and you have a poor exit from the corner.

See the following graphic, for a visual representation of the circuit:

http://racerplanet.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=82811

Through Piratella, you can not much up much time, but, you can lose it easily, with the wrong line. Also, the Acque Minerali section you can make up a lot of time. Take a line into the first section, under brakes, where you are cutting the inside, then, turn sharply, to cut the next, uphill section of a turn. This gives you a nicer exit from the turn, on the road, and you don't run wide.

The Variante Alta (high chicane) must be driven very precisely, or you will spin, easily. Through Rivazza, you can cut the corners, and make up time. The first one is not so easy, but, the second one is easier, and faster.

You can also cut the entry to Traguardo, too, but, just do it carefully. The Variante Bassa doesn't come into play anymore, since they got rid of it, now. It used to be a 4th gear chicane in the old F1 cars.

That sounds interesting. I have been trying not to ride the kerbs too much and losing time as a result. I'll try "straightening" them a bit and see how I go ;)

Thanks Chris -^

I'll try and do a low 1m:51 lap, cleanly.

I've been experimenting with so different setups, and, I might have worked out a setup that can get a mid to low 1m:50, or, better still.

I worked out also where I was going wrong.. My controller settings where not ideal, in the Profiler.. Only 50% responsiveness..

Now I can much more precisely control the car, instead of throwing it about; I can even kick the tail into oversteer a little bit, if I want, and control it, more easily.

I managed a 1:51.947 but stuffed up the following lap which was better through the first 2 sectors. Driving that hard leaves little room for error and it is damned hard to get a clean lap :(

Chris, are you submitting your times to the GTR Rank? If so, under what name?

I even tried the 1967 version of Imola for GPL - no chicanes  It sure is different :D

No, I've not been submitting them.

I can't be bothered.. I'm not that serious about racing F12002, anyhow.

:D I'm just doing it for the fun of it, but like to see how I rate (usually badly) against others. I only do a few laps at a time - around 6 to 7 and then do something else. I've had 4 "sessions" today because I have been very bored.

I enjoy GTR, but it lacks something (immersiveness maybe?) to keep me playing it for longer periods. I just seem to get bored after half a dozen laps
