I have been trying to tame Silverstone. Man this is a hard trial :(

I finally managed a 1:50.476 in the 360 which is good enough for 144th in the N-GT rankings  - but I did beat Mysh's time

The record for this track is unbelievable, but I think I can get into the top 100 as long as they don't improve too much. A few days ago a low 1:50 was good enough for the top 100, now you need a low 1:49.

I won't even mention the damned GT times :help:

Anyway, I will settle for a low 1:49 if and when I get it.

Maybe I'll have a go at it, perhaps, and see what can I achieve..

I could only manage 1:52.976 in the 360 GT.

Hey! Knock that off!!

 I seem to have some trouble switching between GPL and GTR2k2... one helps the other to start, but the styles are still different and my strategy to get quicker right now in GPL does not help me in GTR.

I guess I just have a one-track mind when it comes to racing... funny it seems that PU didn't affect my GPL driving much, maybe because it was so different? Anyway, sometimes I feel like I "don't get" GTR, as I have yet to have a moment when things click and I think "ohhhh... that's how you do such-and-such".

So Silverstone... I probably ran this track more than the others, as I know the general layout because it is easy to relate to the GPL version. I think my Porsche time was a bit better than the 360GT time... wasn't my Porsche time about your 360 time? 1:50 or so?

Anyway, -^ Dave :)

Did some laps with several cars, best N-GT was in Modena, 1.50.xxx

Silverstone is so tricky to drive, all curves has inbuildt "speciality's" IMO
It's a wide track too, soo some corner-cutting has to be done to do proper times (at this stage of skill)

It feels like I have a very long way to go when it comes to setting up a midengine car before curves, I loose alot of time in curves caused to much understeer, and that's because of my faults in lines and speed when entering curves, because I am used to FWD I'm failing all the time regarding throttle-control when entering and during curves (I noticed it today when I drove my Fiat, kept up with a R-type MC at some winding roads :), I use much of the same style in the game, wich is totally wrong when driving RWD )
So I need a lesson in how to drive a RWD-car, maybe I should find a friend with a RWD and try it for real, I'm not able to take advantage of the capabilities of those RWD's.

PSSSSST; some cool news regarding 360-Challenge in the forum, and some stunning pics from Nordscheife  (and I mean STUNNING!)

Take best care all!

I have done 1:48.2 driving a Lister. Not so good but it's fun. :)

I think I am starting to get the hang of Sliverstone. I just did a 1:49.096 which wasn't a terribly good lap, albeit good enough for 86th the N-GT rankings  Anyway, I think a mid 1:48 is definitely achievable in the 360. I haven't tried the GT3 yet so I don't what is possible in it.

If anyone wants the replay, I can attach it -^

I think I will settle for 61st with a 1:48.679 :) That was a pretty tough effort and to go faster will take more laps than it is worth &(

I decided to try the GT class again as my first attempt wasn't too successful. I managed a 1:42.744 in the Diablo but it is like driving on egg shells. If you use a little too much throttle you spin - not very forgiving at all.

The N-GT cars are great because you can really stomp them exiting corners and feel them take off. In the GT cars you are feathering the throttle on the exit and have to make sure the car is straight before you stomp it.

Great achievement in N-GT, congratulations Dave!!!!!!!!
If you want to share the rpl, I'll gladly look at it :D

I agree fully regarding the N-GT's "easy" handling when flooring pedal, the Diablo is so unpredictable/ nervous compared to the 360 &( :")

I have raced a few GT-'s, with =(( results, it's just a matter of practice, like with the Modena, and like every single curve, practice practice practice :)

Take care all!

Thanks Mads :) I just tried the Viper =(( and the 550  to see how they feel. I couldn't drive the Viper without spinning and had little more success with the 550. I just tip-toed around the track trying not to spin :help:

Here is the replay. I was pushing to the limit of my meagre ability &(

After tweaking the Diablo setup I tried some more laps and managed a 1:41.790 - only 208th on the Ranks :( I think I can get a 1:40 with a bit more work and maybe get close to around 150th in ranking

I wanted to attach the replay so you can see where I mess up my line :help: Unfortunately the replay is 121 KB which is too big to attach

I have found that, if you don't get setup on the right line going into the first set of esses, it is hard to get back on line again without dropping too much speed.

I notice that a couple of PUers have good times on Silverstone. [XR]Chef has a low 1:40 - nice one  A few GPLers have 1:37s and 1:38s as well &(
