I prefer the new Nissan Teana (next model coming out in Japan).

It appears that it will be the next Maxima, that Australia will get. It has an interior, themed on a modern Japanese style.

Meaning quality materials, simple, understated shapes, and minimalistic. It looks nice, inside. Subtle, and very classy.

For the exterior, it seems the new Teana is a smart, and design savvy car.

But, however, I wouldn't mind a Skyline 3500GT-8, actually. Something about a very powerful V6, well tuned rear-drive chassis, and 8 speed gearbox is quite appealing.

Oh, and here is a presentation on the Teana:

http://www2.nissan.co.jp/TEANA/J31/0302/PRESEN/main1a_01.html

In Japanese, only, so it seems, but, worth looking at.

And here is an interior 360° view:

And here are some interior pics:

The last one is particularly eye-catching.

Oh man, I love the new Maxima. The 2004 Maxima is so much better than the 2003 one, it now has an independent rear suspension finally. The power is up a bit also, from 255hp to 265hp. I also like the Maxima interior a lot, it is nice. One thing I don't care for is the buck-toothed grille on the new Maxima, I'm certain that someone will make an aftermarket one though. Some type of mesh grille would look great on the Maxima.

I have a 2003 Altima now, I kind of wish I had waited to get a Maxima now..

I am pretty sure I have seen that car driving on the road, had the same grill, hmm. It was going the other way, but I saw the front and it pretty much looked like that.

A horizontal bar themed grill, like what Teana has, would suit the US market Maxima, better, as would a more simple, cleaner looking back.

Am I correct in saying that Teana and the US market Maxima are related?

The Teana is indeed what will become the new Maxima, in Australia. It appears like we will get smaller engined 230 models, and the 350 version, with the wonderful 3.5 litre V6 (VQ35DE).

Nissan, I don't care for any Japenese car so I don't really care aobut it and in Australia they only sell a couple hundred a year or soemthing so who cares?
Looks like a oversize camry he current one looks better.

Chirs the Jap. Teana is not a Maxima, it is a Jap version of Infiniti G35 or other Infiniti model. They all look the same. ^_^

The Infiniti G35 is actually a rebadged V35 model Skyline, from what I can work out.

This Teana appears to be something different again. But it sure as hell is a really slick bit of design work, as most of the new Nissans seem to be (Skyline V35, 350Z, etc).

But You have to admit the Exterior looks almsot the same as an Infiniti?

Yeah, it's fairly similar.

Vette Boss

It's the exact same car as the G35. Just with left-drive. Only the VQ35DE is availible on the G35.

I don't like the Horizontal lights ont he 350Z itz weird and ugly really and all cars that are like that are weird I reckon.

i dunno much about the aulstrailian car market, but im pretty sure they sell more than a few hundred nissans a year. even the jacked up ugly Pontiac aztec sold 18,000+ in the us market.

dont dis a car cause it's from a different class or country. im sure a 350 z could lay a smackdown on a holden. yeah nissan's styling is getting a bit strange, but with cars like the skyline or silvia under your belt the company has to be doing some thing right.

the r35 skyline should be off the chain. this year they ditch the rb26dett(:'( ) but the new vq30dett sound even better, if possible.

04-12-2003, 09:52 PM
oh yeah, infinity is nissan. kinda like lexus and scion are still toyota.

VQ
04-13-2003, 01:21 AM
VQ30dett? isn't that the V6 engine in the old 300ZX?
Ur wrong the Monaro with itz 235kw on base model will and does kisck the 350z's theoretical arse in speed.
Also Nissan DO only sell a couple hundred Maxima's a year because I have seen the Vfacts result and it was against the Ford Fairlane and the Holden Statesman/caprice and the caprice had a couple thousand sales under itz belt unlike both the fords and the Nissan's.

the 300zx had the VG30DETT, VG30DET, and VG30DE.

Vqcapricedude: Stop bending the truth to suit your needs.. Monaro CV8 even in Series II form, is not that fast, and, a 350Z will give it a very serious run for it's money.

Here is how it rates in performance:

Power: 235kW@5200rpm
Torque: 465Nm@4400rpm
Weight: 1645kg
Power to weight: 143kW per tonne

Fuel consumption: 14.5L per 100km

Speed in gears (automatic model)
1st: 68km/hr @ 5500rpm
2nd:128km/hr @5500rpm
3rd: 209km/hr @ 5500rpm
4th: 245km/hr @ 4500rpm

Overtaking acceleration (kickdown)
80-120km/hr: 3.8 seconds

Standing start acceleration:
0-60km/hr: 3.5 seconds
0-80km/hr: 4.7 seconds
0-100km/hr: 6.6 seconds
0-120km/hr: 8.5 seconds
0-140km/hr: 11.2 seconds
0-160km/hr: 14.5 seconds
0-400m: 14.6seconds @ 162km/hr

And this is how it's nearest, and closest opponent fairs:

Power: 225kW@5600rpm
Torque: 460Nm@3250rpm
Weight: 1660kg
Power to weight: 136kW per tonne

Fuel consumption: 12.3L per 100km

Speed in gears (automatic model)
1st: 67km/hr @ 6000rpm
2nd:109km/hr @ 6000rpm
3rd: 169km/hr @ 6000rpm
4th: 210km/hr @ 5300rpm*
5th: 210km/hr @ 4400rpm*

* denoting manufacturers claim. I think it is fast than that.

Overtaking acceleration (kickdown)
80-120km/hr: 3.5 seconds

Standing start acceleration:
0-60km/hr: 3.0 seconds
0-80km/hr: 4.4 seconds
0-100km/hr: 6.0 seconds
0-120km/hr: 8.0 seconds
0-140km/hr: 10.2 seconds
0-160km/hr: 12.9 seconds
0-400m: 14.1seconds @ 168km/hr

That's the performance of the Mercedes Benz CLK500 Avantgarde.

But, the 350Z, however, is about equal with the Monaro CV8, for performance, in all respects. Even top speeds are similar.

VQ
04-15-2003, 08:34 PM
Ummmm yeah Chirs but the Monaro ahs a lot of unthouched potenetial I mean just spendin a couple extra grand could get an extra 10-30 kw easy compaered to getting 1-5 kw on the 350Z I mean the LS1 engine is so easy to make more powerfull it isn't funny there are Vu SS's that do 12 sec qaurters with only the Heads done mildly, cams changed and a bigger throttle body.

chris
04-15-2003, 08:36 PM
Er, no..

People who are buying cars like that don't modify them. They want to keep their warranty.. You touch the engine, or, anything else (excepting wheels perhaps) and your warranty is gone, in an instant..

VQ
04-15-2003, 09:29 PM
Well a lot of new Holdens owner don't mind changing the exasut on thier LS1 powered beast from wat I've seen and heard and I have seen plenty of modified Ls1's and these people do look sensible but the cars are crazy a bit I mean some people just stick on superchargers and because of the dealer they can stay under warrenty!
So only Ford driving idiots would really want to kee their cars stock and care about thier warrenty.

chris
04-15-2003, 09:36 PM
Those are fighting words.. :nono:

Those Holden dealers you talk about, must be very far and few between, I'd say, judging from my experience. Maybe the dealers up here in Sydney are more strict, than those in Victoria, but, I don't know.

If I were to add supercharging, to the engine, the warranty would have been gone, straight away.

VQ
04-15-2003, 10:20 PM
Yeah but wat about the place that puts the superchargers on? I think Capa supply a warrenty and HDT in the west add superchargers to their cars as standerd and there legal and under warrenty.

Vette Boss
04-15-2003, 10:27 PM
Just be quiet. You are an annoyance. Obviously, Chris wants to keep the warranty on his car, and you cannot change his mind.

VQ
04-15-2003, 11:09 PM
I'm aware he doesn't want to lose the warrenty but they are the options. I'll just shut up now cos I CBF wrting ne thing more.

Don't you mean VQ.. If you're going to make a statement, make sure it is correct.

No, how are u gonna tell me-i meant VG30DE and VG30DETT. dont tell me i dont know what im talkin about, if its one thing i know, its japanese cars. if im so wrong, where's tha proof?

Has anyone seen Greddy's twin turbo 350z? that is NICE!!! just with that mod and some suspension and some piston and cam work, i would put up against a hooked up holden.

Nissan never made a VG.. haha It has always been VQ for Nissan's V6's for at least ten years. Don't start with me kid, I know more about Nissan and their engines than you ever could. ^_^

If you even knew the first thing about Nissan motors you'd be painfully aware that the VG designation V6's have been some of Nissans most widely used engines worldwide since the early 80's. Other VG variations include the VG20E, VG20ET, VG30ET, VG30DET, VG30DETT, even VG33's that are still in production today.

You know zero. Do us all a favor and spend 1 minute punching Nissan VG into any search engine to realize that for yourself.

VQ when you are old enough too of been in some of these cars that chris talk's about them you will understand that you don't always need aftermarket addon's for performance if you ever take of your Holden glasses and get the chance to ride in a gtho phase3 (or any other factory performance car for that matter )at full song you'll know what I mean I have done it many times and have yet to ride in a V8 holden to match the feeling A9X Torana came close just

05-02-2003, 09:28 AM
That car is the most fugliest thing I have ever seen on four wheels!!! God damn that's f#@king Ugly!!!

wello : Sorry to upset you but the XY's were butt ugly, prehistoric looking, shit boxes. The GTHO phase III was slower than the six pack Charger, stock- straight off the show room floor.

Aussie Ford fans have live on that "HO" myth for 3 decades now. When will you guys ever research the car. Just because it was a 4 door doesn't mean it was the fastest production family car. You can fit just as many family members into the Valiant Charger, which incedently looked much better too. Inside and out.
It had sex appeal written all over it whilst the XY was a shoe-box in design with fat, ugly dash knobs.

Remeber them? I owned a V8 Charger (after market 340) and at the same time my brother owned a 265 Charger.

Out of 40 odd cars (mostly Holdens and 1 Ford) my Charger was the best car I've ever owned.

Well U wouldn't ahve seen the A9X in old rally videos as it was for TRACK like Bathurst, Sandown etc.. where the V8 Supercars race now and up till the VT V8 Supercar it was the most dominant car in group A/ V8 Supercar history

I can remember the LC's and LJ's beening used in rally cross but not A9X's I would be interested in see this VQ got any links in regards to A9X in rallycross
Rallycross was big in the 70's and Channel 7 telecast Rallycross from both Catalina Park and Calder. Whenever, HDT and Peter were entered, it proved to be a formidable combination.

I'm pretty sure your thinking of the LC'sand LJ's

1970 Rallycross Champion - Holden Torana GTR Peter Brock
http://www.brock05.com/mrhdtgallery/giantkillers2.jpg
The Beast: Rallycross was very popular in 1971 and the HDT had a Torana that was nicknamed 'The Beast'. Mostly driven by Peter Brock this car drew a following like no other and was eventually powered by a supercharged 186 ci motor with twin 2" SU's. The engine was moved back into the firewall for better balance and at it's peak was putting out 320 bhp (238 kW) at the flywheel and 260 bhp (194 kW), 310 ft/lb at the rear wheels. This car took Brock to a win in the Championship as nothing could get close to it.
