Wow, they kinda ripped off my idea, but not quite the same design. It's not really a 6-stroke/cycle engine, I would say it's more like a "stroke-and-a-half/cycle" engine. Pretty cool either way. I never thought of combining a piston with the rotary like that, my "1-stroke/cycle" engine uses strictly pistons, which are dual sided. I won't get into that again, i recall the thread about this about a year ago and it went on for ages with diagrams and everyone putting in their thoughts for the design ^_^ . It was actually fun, but was a long and technical thread, heheh.

Maserati's 6 valve per cylinder V6 engine was quite excellent, though, they never put it into full scale production.

This site gives technical drawings, and details. It's a twin-turbo engine, but, running only modest turbo boost, and, already claiming huge power per litre.

And it was in 1985, too.

Yeah but that isn't 6 STROKE is it Chris?

But it is similarly not normally seen.

I've not seen any other 6 valve per cylinder engines, in cars.

But, Honda did an 8 valve per cylinder motorbike engine, that was in a production bike. That was pretty much a statement to everyone else, to take notice of what Honda was capable of. After all, it'd just finished a Euro-bashing spell in F1, where Honda engined cars dominated, completely, and brought out the NSX, something that scared the hell out of Ferrari.

I certainly be interested to read about any other similarly advanced engines, with such large amounts of valves per cylinder.

chris, the engine vq posted a link to isn't six valves, it's six strokes. Okay, not exactly six strokes, it's a hybrid between a two stroke and a four stroke so they call it a six stroke.

I know that. But, I just thought I'd highlight a couple of other more strange engine concepts, that were designed, or, went into production, but, didn't remain that way, for too long.

That 6 stroke engine, does sound quite different.

A little like a modern Porsche flat-six, from a 996 911 (from the outside, at least), but not as deep. Definately nothing like a normal Ducati engine (or anything else from that genre of engines).

Like I say though, it shouldn't be called "6-stroke". That implies there are six strokes per cycle, which would be rather inefficient. It's really more like a "stroke-and-a-half", judging from the little moving diagram on the web page.

Yeah I know itz a 4 stroke and a 2 stroke togehter but itz easier to write 6 stroke then 4 stroke and 2 stroke isn't it?
Did u d/l th images or the movie? there pretty good.
