View Full Version : Saw the new FPV Falcon GT-P.. Avro707C 04-04-2003, 08:12 AM VQ 04-05-2003, 01:46 AM I saw it and I thin YUK YUk Yuk all round, the interior, the exterior, everything. Just my opinion Avro707C 04-05-2003, 04:02 AM I understand.. Your signature says it all.. Maybe you might care to elaborate? Or is it just something that is ellipse shaped, and blue in colour, that looks ugly. I'm not annoyed that you don't like it, but, more annoyed because you didn't even bother to explain why you didn't like it, and, because I'm damned certain that it was to do with this Ford versus Holden biased shi!t. I can't understand how Holden fans can hate Ford so much, and how Ford fans can hate Holden so much.. It's just totally beyond me? Damn it, I spent a fair amount of time writing that report, and I was lucky to have access to the car, itself. Hell, I even did some sound recordings, and videos, too. I won't make the same mistake again. MattB 04-05-2003, 12:35 PM Chris! i love ur review u made and i hope u keep writing them. Just ignore people who act childish. Well im the opposite to VQ here, i love Holdens (as does VQ) but I have learned that the new Falcons are ALOT better then the stuff Holden has put out:'( May you please put you post back up? VQ: have a actual look at the car this time, forgetting its a Ford, i think you may think differently of it:) Matt:beer: Vette Boss 04-05-2003, 02:12 PM Originally posted by Vqcapricedude I saw it and I thin YUK YUk Yuk all round, the interior, the exterior, everything. Just my opinion If you can't make a reasonable post, then don't post at all. Keep your biased opinions to your self. :B&D: Chris, please keep writing your reviews on the cars, I enjoy reading them, I'm sure everyone else does too. Oh, and vqcapricedude: you should learn that a car doesn't need a big v8 to be entertaining to drive. Mickcals 04-05-2003, 05:15 PM Gees give him a break, i think its good how hes expressed his opinion, hell i think that way when i see a VY on the road MattB 04-05-2003, 05:46 PM Gees give him a break, i think its good how hes expressed his opinion, hell i think that way when i see a VY on the road Mickcals, were trying to help the situation. not make it worse. Mickcals 04-06-2003, 05:22 PM ok i ll shut up VQ 04-08-2003, 02:46 AM Yeah I'm sorry I didn't explain my self did I? and I shouldn't have been so snappy. The new BA is good yes, but I dont' like really refined cars with soft rides and stuff because it sin't going to be good on the track is it? The R8 has soemting that I like, Attidute and plenty of it. It has a good 1/4 mile and a aggressive bodykit which is important. And the GT might have refinment and stuff but on a track like Sandown or somehting would a R8 Beat it? I reckon it would. But Chris U didn't need to delete the post just cos I said I din't like it. I mean the front is like the current M3 and the rear lights are still Au style but more reminding my of the EB. Sepecat 04-08-2003, 10:44 AM Chris, I would love to see your review and your pic. I didn't see it since it was edited. I hope you would reconsider posting it. -^ Thanks George` VQ 04-10-2003, 03:09 AM CHirs please put the review back up if i can remeber it plz other people should know. wello 04-10-2003, 03:28 AM The holden V ford thing will always be there as its passed down from father to son to grandson for the new Gt just my thoughts bang for bucks its better value looks good the new Ford ads are more about the car than you need big balls to drive it myself I sit on the fence I like Holdens and fords my lounge rooms is full of FJ pics one I use to own and overs my computer room has ford and holden pics in it mainly old holdens but I follow Ford in the v8 series because of family involvement (spelling ) with Ford Vqcapricedude saying yuk to the new Falcon is no Different to me saying yuk to the new dunnydore ^_^ I hate those little parking lights they look a after thought Keep those reveiws going Chris I like reading them I mightn't agree with some but great reading mate -^ :auswink: anyway thats my 2 bob's worth VQ 04-10-2003, 06:44 PM Yeah technically i should be Ford becuase my Nonno was Fords but my Dad is VW's and I picked up a Commodore mag so many years ago and if I picked up a Ford one I would be Ford. Mickcals 04-11-2003, 06:34 PM The reason why im a Ford fan is because 1. My family are Ford fans, and my grandpa worked for Ford many years ago and 2. i prefered the look of the Falcon over the Commodore, and still do VQ 04-12-2003, 02:50 AM Yeah but u have a weird sense of taste Mickcals.... blackice111288 04-12-2003, 08:38 PM i gotta agree with u, vq, who ever prefers ford over holden is kinda out there. i suppose the holden vs. ford scene is the same thing as the v8 vs. import scene here in the states. for those who dont know, i stick to the import side:) notice the red 1996 R33 Skyline GT-R V-specII under my name. its not mine, but it a car with two turbo's for balls ! VQ 04-13-2003, 12:14 AM Um if u do imports vs other cars it would be Holdens, Fords, Chrylsers V Imports really cos thatz the only time Ford and holden owner are alike other thent he passion for V8's and Burnouts and stuff. Mickcals 04-13-2003, 10:43 PM Yeah but u have a weird sense of taste Mickcals.... Hey dont think i developed this taste just by looking at the Falcon and Commodore and said which one. I analysised them both, and used the frames (an art term) to assist me. For example: I like the front of the Falcon (AU and BA) and i like the front of the Commodore (VX and VY), but didnt like the back of the Commodore, and i really dont like the back of the VY, so i ve stuck with Ford. Speed isnt a factor as in Aust the ony place where you can go over 110 without being booked is in the bush and on a race track VQ 04-14-2003, 04:07 AM The VX look far better then the Au in all respects and the VY has the upper ahdn in the forn end styling and rear end styling cos the Vy had changed position unlike the Ea through to BA. Radical-Al 04-14-2003, 05:48 PM VQ, you type faster than you can spell, just to let you know, heh Mickcals 04-14-2003, 10:38 PM Its funny trying to read his stuff too (when you read the way he spells it) BTW no offensive VQ MattB 04-14-2003, 10:56 PM heh, one giant sentence. I like the style sometimes, tho it can be a little confusing:D Mickcals 04-14-2003, 11:05 PM I like the style of the Holden Commodore but id prefer the style of the Falcon Avro707C 04-14-2003, 11:16 PM I think Falcon has a more expensive, quality look, all as one sort of look. It's nice. The little chrome accents under the tail lights are a very neat touch. The entire look to me, is handsome, and understated. It looks best, in Fairmont Ghia form. THe latest Commodore, in the base models, seems to look a bit cheaper, and the back and front, don't seem to really match the curves of the car, seen elsewhere. HSV was not particularly impressed with the look of the VY model, either. Naturally, they didn't say this directly, but, anyone a bit clued up, can read between the lines, and get the real meaning of the very carefully considered responses from HSV. Mickcals 04-14-2003, 11:32 PM I like the front of the VY as i like the Monaro, and they have a similar front design. But i know a few other die hard Holden fans who dont like the VY at all, which is a real shame i think blackice111288 04-15-2003, 11:06 AM i think the commodore has a more aggresive racy look about it than the falcon. the headlights on the falcon looks like they were stolen from honda's 2003 integra. ford=Found On Road Dead ford backwards+ Driver Return On Foot Vette Boss 04-15-2003, 01:41 PM Originally posted by blackice111288 i think the commodore has a more aggresive racy look about it than the falcon. the headlights on the falcon looks like they were stolen from honda's 2003 integra. ford=Found On Road Dead ford backwards+ Driver Return On Foot Actually, the Aus Ford's are nice. I love the Falcon. VQ 04-15-2003, 07:57 PM sorry sometimes my fingers are near going numb cos itz cold that I type way too fast for wat I'm saying. Avro707C 04-15-2003, 08:24 PM blackice111288: When did Honda start designing the latest Integra? I can tell you that the BA model Falcon design started off just a month or two, after the old AU model Falcon's disastrous launch. The old AU was not well received, at all. Especially bad was it's cheap and bland looking interior. They decided to just about redesign the whole thing, leaving just the door shape untouched. Everything else got redesigned, in some way, or another. And the unloved AU model interior got thrown out, too, replaced with a new, attractive, high quality interior. And they also abandoned the old engines, too. In the place of the old ones, are a collection of modern, high technology engines, that seem to have moved the benchmark forward. I believe the Falcon has one of the most powerful normally aspirated Inline-6 engines, of any standard factory spec road car, anywhere in the world. One of the tricks of the I-6, is the valve timing on both inlet and exhaust valves. Also featured are the de-rigeur 4 valve per cylinder. So, you end up with 250hp (at 5000rpm), and 380Nm (at 3250rpm) of torque. When teamed with the refined and quick shifting automatic gearbox, you end up with a surprisingly fast large 4 door car. Better power to weight ratio than both BMW 530i, and Mercedes Benz E320. And it's high praise indeed, from Vette Boss (Nissan boss? should his name be, perhaps.) To see him offering praise on a Ford product, is little short of astonishing. VQ 04-15-2003, 09:48 PM Yeah but the new Holden HFv6 when they start making it is gonna be, smaller, more fuel effiecient and more powerfull (That is basically wat the current ecotech as ATM cept 4 more power of course) Chris they may be powerfull but they are hardly fuel misers, which some people want over fuel guzzelers. I mean the LS1 has pushrod technology and should use more fuel cos its also has a bigger capacity but it is better then the Falcon V8! And have u read the review comparing the normal V8 Falcon XT to the SV8? THe SV8 wins there in the engine department as well. With more power they should also think about making it fuel effecient, something that has never been Ford's forte. Vette Boss 04-15-2003, 09:54 PM OT: You seriously need to slow down with your typing. I can't read alot of what you typed. VQ 04-15-2003, 10:06 PM Is that better? I hope it is cos thatz the best i will do cos I'm too tired to think properly. MattB 04-15-2003, 10:24 PM I still dont understand half of it, ahwell Avro707C 04-15-2003, 10:45 PM Vqcapricedude: Well, actually I should scan that review, because, they didn't elect a winner. This is what they said: (in the last two paragraphs): So there you go. Red blooded performance and impressive fuel economy are the driving strengths behind the SV8's engine orientated appeal. With the XT V8, you're looking at a slower, thirstier answer, with better developed chassis dynamics and greater sense of refinement throughout. Raunch or refinement? Consummate cruiser, or wannabe street racer? It's an insanely close call, or no contest at all, depending on what fires your plug. The only advice is, that if you're after a "bent" bargain, take the XT V8. Or the SV8. Either way, you win; more or less. (W) And to prove the point, look at the bottom of page 75, and, you'll see both cars received 4 stars out of 5. And also, to just explain the point about fuel consumption, that you made. Is really 13.7 litres per 100km (an extra 1 litre per 100km versus the Commodore SV8) that much of a penalty when you are offered a car that is better in so many other ways, as they pointed out. Now, if you are going to quote stuff from reviews, at least quote the whole thing, or, quote it in such a way that you are not twisting it to suit your obvious bias towards Holden.. :nono: This is the LAST time I will waste my time explaining your statements, for the benefit of the community here that doesn't have access to the latest Wheels Magazine. VQ 04-16-2003, 02:16 AM Sorry only read the article and then put it down I didn't mean it the way that u meant Chris really. |
