SO before I get too carried away into this game, I wanna do things right from the start! ;)
So first things..
1.)
I hear of a 1.2 version patch?
I installed my game from a DVD which came with a magazine, is there anyway I can find what version I have?
2.) It appears, each day i go to load the game, my controls have lost their settings or just don't work... so I go into controller setup, click say accelerator, and it shows waiting for an input, but I push my gas pedal, and nothing happens.. only after exiting the setup screen and going back to it clears it up.. then I can set my wheel up.
3.) A clutch? How does it work?
Do I need to push it each time I change gears or what?
4.) Hey the feck did Chey do 2:06 on Sepang?
My lap was 2:14.0 WITH most aids on.. :(
5.) Apart from the 15 or so cars I seem to have, GT2 Porsches, Diablos, Ferraris, anything else I should be downloading? Say a Mclaren F1? ;) :D ;)
6.) How do replays work?
Each time I exit a race, (more like a practice), it says saving replay.. does it auto save? I found inside the game where they are, and you can change views still, and filenames? So I can save, and send to someone to watch??

You'd surely have the original version, I suspect. The 1.2 patch is just that, a patch.
Clutch will work, if the game is set to the somewhat poorly termed Professional mode, in the GTR2002 v1.2
In my opinion, the Professional mode equals unrealistic mode, especially for the Ferrari 360 GT, for instance.
A better idea is just to have full manual operation of gearchanges, and clutch, only for those cars that require it, while leaving Ferrari 360 GT realistic, with electro-hydraulic gearbox.
And yes, you can distribute the replays. Provided the other person has the same cars. They should in the VCR sub-directory of F12002, specific to what Mod you are using.
And no Mclaren F1s exist for GTR2002, and you are lucky you are asking that, here.. Over at the sbdt forum they take joy in flaming anyone who asks that question. And besides, a Mclaren F1 would humble all of these cars for performance.

Replays must be activated in mainmenu I think, there you also can activate InstantReplay, set the number of seconds you want for watching e.g the last 30 seconds of your lap. And HOTLAPS, the best lap of each race (or test-day) is automaticly saved, you just have to rename it before you race the same track once again (because it gets named e.g "France HOT LAP"), it's easy and cool functions.
You need the patch, it's 50 MB size... Also you need alot of addontracks. If you have problems getting it, I can send you a cd half way around the earth..
Regarding Cheyenne's time, just take it easy, remember that she is used to that wild little RX7, she is "home" now ;)
Clutch is working fine with a button (you can use auto if you like), because you can adjust it to fade when you let off it, just like a real clutch, (in controller-settings)

2.06 is WR at Sepang in N-GT, but very few have raced there yet.
Congrats!!!
Chey, you have been at Sepang before???
Have you drived much with slicks in real?

Damn, 2:06 is the WR? Nice work Chey!
I never did a good lap with settings off. Everytime I clip the judder kerb, I spin out.. ;) Too used to racing 95 Turbos on Cote, where you go full flat, except the odd brake, and 1:56 isn't really that hard to get close to. Just embarrassing I can be 15 sec off some time.. ^_^
Remember I have 56K, and it seems every night, Niki's mum is downloading programs from Kazaa on her PC! Means, I can't download things overnight...
Right now I stopped a download for a sec, just so I can post a message.
Off to bed..
Thanks for the replies everyone, too :)
I don't see what's so wrong about the Big Mac? 6064cc, 627bhp.. unless you get a 680bhp LM version.. brumm brummmm!
I got enough sound files of one, maybe I'll go and make my version. :)

They don't seem to like it.. :(
The BPR GT mod will have multiple F1 GTR's in it, though, along with F40 GTE, as well, and some others, that I don't remember the name of.

Venturi and Lotus Esprit are also in BPR, supposedly on April 19th.
Here is the mod's web page : http://bprgt.rsdg.net/
The version of GTR is displayed in the upper left hand corner of the first menu page in the game.

World record? Nah, something has got to be wrong. Either (less likely) the program read something wrong or (more likely &( ) it's operator error  . What I did is certainly not a world record. It felt like a really good solid newbie run, but nothing extraordinary. I probably misread something. Doing a bit more this morning I was very sloppy and lots of ROTs.
I'm going to be replacing that drive (getting CRC errors when I back it up) and reinstalling the whole doohickey, so I'll try some more this later today (evening?) and see what I can run.
Oh, Wazza, I don't know about you, but I found the aids a bit meddlesome in driving in that I found it more natural to just drive without them.
Mads, thanks for the info about the "L" key and the rev limiter. I did find my manual this morning, so I'll be able to actually figure out some of the controls. It was weird doing my first lap with the rev limiter on though! lol
zoom-sputter-cough-sputter-choke-sputter....
P.S., maybe now I can figure out the "views" and stop looking at my windshield wiper all the time! ^_^

:D Cheyenne, I did the same myself, was completly lost, had to mail TEN and ask him what it could be this time (first it was the patch), I was alittle :o when he replied, because I had been into controller-settings and noticed the config-option for it, but believed it was for controlling ON/OFF rev-limiter (as a real limiter)
Stats for N-GT class at Sepang contains only 20 names or so, because it's almost at bottom of the championship list, popular tracks like Magny Course have ca 400 N-GT cars stated (ca 3000 in GT class)
I started without aids with the same reasons you give Chey, the aids ruins the reality-feeling
I love the hyperagressive sound of this 360 V8 engine, espescially when pulsing the gas with fast intervals (down and up 3-4 times each second) in long curves    inbetween the howling straights, BELLA!

FIATLOVE: You want to test something for me, F12002 related?
Oh, and, by the way, that sound of the 360 V8 that you like, is actually what anyone who races the Ferrari 360 Challenge will hear. That sound is from a Ferrari 360 Challenge.

You like the 360 sound? I don't it sounds like a drab.. however those other cars! Lambo, some low car. .forget the name.. wow.. muhahaa
I was stuck on rev limited too for first few runs when I played a while back... didn't know what it was... it was actually on F1 2002... so a month back when I got the new PC!
I was pusing every button.
It seems I can't find the keys that are programmed. I wanted to changed views, but I couldn't really work out what it is..
seems Insert and Home keys do a lot of views, but then I lose the Hud.. or I'm stuck behind the car without a view of the road.
So far my best view is on top of the windscreen.. see the bonnet of the car, and can see corners... wheN I was on bumper cam, it felt like i was 9" off the ground, and couldn't see oncoming corners!

He's probably talking about the sounds, from version 1.2 of the GTR2002 mod, after the patch.
The original sounds in the first version were absolute crap, and not even from a Ferrari, so far as I can tell. Then, the 1.2 parch came along, and, with the Ferrari 360 GT sounds created from a sound recording of the Ferrari 360 Challenge (one model below the 360 GT).
However, if you can have access to a real car, and, record the 5 different sound types listed below...
idle
low
medium
high
maximum
... accurately, without any changes in engine speed, you can have a sound absolutely identical to the real car. You just make sure it's 44,100khz, and stereo, 16 bit.
I've been working on some sounds for a Ferrari, in fact, just finished a new version of them, this afternoon. They are accurate to the real car, pretty much. Anyone who wants to try them, is welcome to. Just send private message, and, I give you the link to the latest version.

Also be aware of the radiator opening. If your car overheats (shows a red radiator right of screen) you can alter it in the car setup/advanced menu. Also dropping the redline a little (gear changing earlier) helps too.
The driving view key is found in the controlers setup menu. You will need to scroll down. I think mine is backspace, can't remember if it's the default, but after setting it to nose view I haven't need to change it again.
Like wazzman said, the Home keys (Page Up/Page Down etc.) change views but only when running replays.
Good to see you both into this game, Chey & wazzdude. -^
Congrats on that excellent time Chey.
edit:
Sorry, I was wrong. I have just done a lap and the driving camera view key is "Insert".

Chey, the camera controls for replays are the same as SCGT - ie, Insert, Home, Pgae Up, Page Down plus the arrow keys ;)
