Hey everyone. Good to see things are slowly getting back to normal. Here's the semi short version of what happened and what the status of everything is.

First of all we had massive hard drive corruption on the old server due to a crappy Cobalt OS. I think we outgrew the OS and the servers capabilites. It took 30 hours to find out this information though and then to find out that we would not be able to get any of the old data from the hard drive either. So 48 hours later I decided to buy a new and MUCH faster server. Now it just so happened that this happened SMACK in the middle of when I was trying to move from an internship back home for the holidays and school next semester. So I was trying to pack up and rush to do all I could while I still had broadband internet. What a mess...

Well it just so happened that I was in the middle of a week long process of backing up the individual websites I had on the server, one a night. So I didn't have backups of everything. And to top it off Mike had lost all he had in a recent format! So we were set back quite a bit. The last backup of the forums was on Mike's computer. The last backup I had was back when we had Ultraboard 2000, so I figured a blank boad was better then a super old set of info.

I know I really hated losing all the members and posts. We've reached 1200+ members twice now in the 2 years Total NFS has been around.

The rest of the delay in setup was due to 2 things, holidays and slow tech support. The techs were swamped because of a recent data center move, so response time was a lot longer then it normally is. DNS is the current issue being ironed out still. Some of the sites apear and dissapear every few hours, probably because of duplicate DNS entry's. I'm going to take an inventory of which sites have problems and get tech to work on it. Hopefully they work like tech said they should. heh... ;)

I will get the rest of the forums setup here soon and get the staff and club members thier access back. Email or private message me if you need access to some forums and I've not given it to you yet.

Thanks for the patience, we'll be back and better then ever here soon! And I'm sure Mike and I will be fanatical about backups! :D

Well I think we need to give jtace an award for trying his hardest to keep this site up along with all the other RP hosted sites and even though we all think of him as the admin at TotalNFS he is more then that I think :D but I do think that we owe him sompin because thewre is no way they owe us anything because they pay for the sites,they pay for the space and we just sit on are asses and upload stuff and while he is sittin there buying hard drives and servers we are here complaining about how the forums are down and even though it was sad to see the forums go down.

www.totalnfs.net is not working yet... tech says it should be correct, I'll check tonight giving it time to propagate and then I'll see if it works or not.

So that's why most of the regulars don't know about us yet. Please tell them if you spot them and I'll get totalnfs.net back up asap.

A good way to get the message out would be to mention it in the main pit of PU.there are always lots of racers online these days:D Let me add my thanks to Josh and Mike for all their hard work towards the rebirth of Total NFS! Yeah, it's kinda funny to be a Junior Member again, heh. :cool: I'll search in my address book to tell more people that the forums are there, even when the site itself isn't yet.
I've exchanged 2 emails with Bogs ever since he officially left, but the last mails I sent to him 'bounced', saying there was no such recipient. :( I haven't been able to reach him otherwise.
