Well, yeah, there is supposed to a patch available to get the latest version, which you should get when attempting to log onto online racing, but that feature has been disabled at the server already. I fear that since PU was made long before Win XP was conceived, that you may need the latest patch... but you can't get it. It would take knowledge of another location for the patch in order for you to get it, but I have not such info.

If this is not the cause of your problem, then I am afraid I am out of ideas seeing as how I am completely unfamiliar with the workings of Win XP. Sorry I can't be of more help. :(

Hi,

I have downloaded the EA patch 3.5 for NFS Porsche Unleasched. I hope that this is fine. I will try this afternoon.

Thank you,

If someone else have some other ideas please help me.

The 3.5 Patch won't get you past the loading screen. It actualy makes it a bit harder to get past this bug. Install it if you wan't to play online or if some bug in NFS PU bothers you.

You can work around the memory leak in NFS PU by reducing the size of your page file. Try to set it to min=200 and max=200. If it works you can try a higher setting, if not try even lower. I have 768Mb of physical memory on my W2k system, and the page file set to min=200 max=300

If you can't get it running or dislike the idea of having a small page file, you could try to delete or rename gimme.dll. This is not recomended since it will disable the network and online play.

Before I installed the 3.5 patch I was able to get it running by just deleting gimme.dll. After I upgaded to 3.5 this was not enough and I has to tweak the pag file. I have put gimme.dll back because online play is the most fun part of NFS PU

What you must do will vary from system to system. Some people can run it on XP or W2k right out of the box.
