So, is the JGTC mod conversion from F12001 to F12002 any good?

I'm thinking of downloading it, but, just want to find out if it is any good, first, before I go ahead..

Compared to current mods I don't think so. It is almost completely a conversion from SCGT and has a lot of very low res textures that look very blurry in the game. Plus the models need a fair amount of tweaking, particularly on normals but this can be said about several mods. Lastly I don't care for the physics in comparison to GTR02.

This is just me though. I am really looking forward to trying the new version when it is out. I know they can use some help with it if anyone is so inclined. It's a great way to learn a whole lot about the internals of the game. :)

Actually, I don't mind the JGTC mod for a bit of fun. The textures aren't very good as Vince says but it can still be fun racing :)

I don't mind if the textures are not very high resolution, or that the normals may not exactly be the best, as long as it actually works properly..

I downloaded the F1 Turbo mod, and, to my disappointment, some cars caused it to crash to the desktop, and, others, did the same, as you went in for a pitstop..

And the camera views were absolutely strange.. :(

Chris that problem with the Turbo mod is well known although it only appears to affect some systems. I think I saw a fix for it on the High Gear forums not long after it was released.

The Ferrari in the F1 Turbo mod seemed quite nice, however.

I'm not sure what engine this one had in it.

I didn't think any Ferrari F1 car was turbocharged, I though they were all normally aspirated, and usually 3.5 litre V12 engined, with about 720hp.

At the time, I think the Mclaren's were 1.6 litre V8 Honda engined things, with turbocharging, and somewhere in the region of 750-800hp in race tune, and, something like 1600hp in qualifying tune..

They seem very fast, however. Quicker accelerating that the modern F1 cars, once up to speed, although, sadly, with less well developed handling, though, this perception is probably deceptive. You always feel like you are slower, though, the straightline speeds indicate otherwise.. Probably because these engines aren't hyper responsive like the modern F1 engines.

These cars do seem to spin spin spin in the typical fashion of the real ones, though, and that is good.

I also must query how it's impossible to crank the engine up, and screech away from the starting grid, since, the engine bogs down, what ever you attempt to do.. Very odd, and, I had the traction control off.

Maybe I'll do some more research, and see if there are some fixes for the bugs.. :)
