G'day Rick how's it going?
I thought to start a new thread to keep the Mods thread cleaner.
I have downloaded your Car Manager as I had seen it posted on another site a few days ago. I almost fell over backwards when I saw your name. Well done mate -^
Anyway I can't help but ask about the screenshot of it
http://www.speedsims.com/garages/00003808/files/public/CarManager_01.gif
Where can I get the HRT Holdens you have? I see you've got no less than three of them in there.
I haven't used the Car Manager yet (because I haven't downloaded any add-on cars yet) but it does look very good.-^-^
Good to see you still out and about ol' mate.

Probably they are converted from a F1-2001 mod, if I know him.. He mixes and matches mods from different versions of the EA F1 game, as he sees fit.. ;)
I don't know what you'd call that lot, perhaps Misc Racing 2002??

Yes, that is accurate Chris. I call it GT All Stars but that's just me. I try not to let reality get in the way of my fun. You should see my set of prototypes. ;)
FWIW - the Holdens cause the game to crash right now and there are four of them including the Rogers. I don't race with them at the moment.
There is a newer V8 mod coming which should be interesting. Also - Chris_K is working on Bathurst. That should be really fun. :)
I don't know if you remember this but I had started working on the car manager originally for NFS-HS. However, my interest started fading so I never finished it. I posted a screen shot or two in the staff forum long ago.

Hey Chris Kelly is the one that did Bathurst for GPL, so it should be pretty good... I think I remember Dave saying that to him it seemed pretty accurate in GPL.
BTW, pardon my Yank ignorance, but though I've seen Bathurst written everywhere, do you pronounce it Ba-thurst or Bat-hurst or is there some odd Aussie pronunciation like Beeg-Ozz-Rayce? ;)

Hehe, I just knew that the topic of Bathurst had to come up.
I hope Chris K gets the new one a bit more accurate than the GPL version.
I also heard that someone was working on converting the V8 Challenge version to F1 2002 as well. It is more accurate than the GPL one so I hope it gets finished.

Hmmm I was reading the Bathurst thread over on the Simbin forums... it seems there is some differing opinion here. I thought you had said it was pretty good in GPL before, Dave, but apparently not. Now you're saying that the V8 Challenge one is more accurate, yet over there I read "the best yet", "average" and "the worst of all", and also that the SCGT version is the best, and that the GPL version is good... so I guess I'll just have to go with "If it's fun, then it's good, and damn the realism"
:Peace:

The GPL version is good, except that the run down from Skyline to Forest Elbow hasn't got the corners and elevation changes right. V8 Challenge does a better job of that, but still isn't exactly right.
I would rate Chris K's version for GPL about 90% accurate and the V8 Challenge version about 95% accurate.
I guess I am a bit fussy and want 100% accuracy. If they get the section from Skyline to Forest Elbow right, it is like the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca multiplied by 3 :D
When Chris K released the Mt Panorama track it was the best version around. I think the SCGT version is probably the least accurate.
This is all based on recollections of the many laps I did there in the early 80s.

I don't think we can trust anything from the 80's Dave... any decade that contained Reagan and Cyndi Lauper should be taken out back and shot. )=) All I know is that the Drop or Drip or whatever the hell they call that made me $%&! my pants the first time I went through there in GPL, and still causes me to tense up a bit...

Hehe the first time I went through the Dipper on my motorbike I almost soiled my undies :D

Mysh : It's pronounced as Bath-urst, but like the "math" sound and not like you would say that you're taking a bath which sounds more like "barth".
I hope that was as clear as mud for ya. ;)
The GPL version of the track was very well made. However I could never get used to the car physics so Dave is by far the better judge. I'd agree that the V8 Supercar version is very accurate. However I felt that the GPL version gave a better conception of Conrod straight but that was due to the era the GPL was in and therefore it lacked the man made objects (houses, sponsor signs, etc) of today which can account for the open-air feeling of GPL.

Two items of potential interest :
First, a guy painted a 550 skin to look like one of the HRTs. Here is a thread about it : http://www.sbdt.co.uk/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=51&t=12311
Second, the guy who did Bathurst for GPL is working on it for F1 2002. Apparently he is getting some really great help from a guy who will fly him over the track and then they will take in-car video of a couple of laps there. Check out the last page of this thread :
http://www.sbdt.co.uk/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=27&t=8176&st=80
This is very exciting. ;)

Thanks Rick, good news. :hat:-^
That 550 looks great in HRT colours.
Whoa what a debarkle about the Bathurst track. Thankfully it was finally resolved and he's gonna finish it.

I'm looking to create a Car Manager for NFSHS and would like to borrow the coding from the Serial Number Editor you created. I can read the directories of where the cars are stored, but not the Car Names, and I do not know where that information is stored, nor about editing the serial numbers, which is another feature I would like my program to have.
If you can send me the code in order to create a car manager program for NFSHS, I would be much appreciated. I'm using VB as a programming language, but am familiair with Visual C++ a little and should be able translate.
Thank you.

Well, I managed to get some of the ASV8s to work again. I posted a bunch of shots of them in this thread (http://www.sbdt.co.uk/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=13583) at sbdt.co.uk. Here's one to give you an idea. ;)

The thread pretty much confirms what Chris said about me. :)
