Because some folks only go to their favourite forum without checking out the others I will announce this here as well because it is related to this game too.
I've posted the opinion of a race car driver/instructor on Sim realism in the Main forum. Here's the link (http://www.racerplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6455)
Sorry if you've seen this before, I just thought it was a good read that concerned us all.

Yes, it is a good read, that one.
I believe that F12002 still has a lot of potential left in it, and it will take someone really super talented, who is not a traditional "hard-core race-simmer" to absolutely get it correct.
Some of the race-sim fans get so tripped up in supposed realism, that they can end up making something more difficult, and complex, than it is. These are the type that will try and say that the GTR2002 Ferrari 360GT should be set so you have to lift the throttle, when changing gears, and, blip the throttle on the downshifts, even though this is far from accurate to the real car.
What the article said about the limits of a car's handling is largely true. What you want to do, is, find the limits of a cars traction, and then drive at or near those limits, but, not exceed them.
I had an article in a motoring magazine, where Colin McRae and Martin Brundle swapped cars, for a day, McRae drove Brundles hellishly fast and very powerful Jordan-Peugeot F1 car, and Brundle drove McRae's Subaru Impreza WRX rally car. It was quite interesting to read.
Might be able to find it, and scan it. McRae did okay in the F1 car, even managing to get the Jordan sideways through the very fast turn onto Silverstone's main straight.

This article caused a lot of debate on a number of forums. There was some good input from some experienced race drivers and no-one could agree to what extent, if any, sims can assist in real life racing.
There was some consensus that it can help with the concentration levels, but most agreed that it doesn't help to learn car control.
I have the Ferrari 360 mod for Nascar Heat and it is quite good, but I find it hard to recommend it over the GTR Mod.
