So, what's your fastest time for the airbase circuit (by Tantra)?
The best I've done was a 1m:28.500s in the Belmondo Racing Viper GTS-R, and, in the Ferrari 360 GT, a 1m:36s lap.
I think the lap in the Ferrari is competitive, but, the Viper, I don't know, I was very very cautious with the throttle coming out of the turn on to the first runway section. (so easy to spin). I was using 2nd gear, and, shifting early into 3rd gear, and still being cautious with the throttle.
The Viper is undoubtedly the fastest, now, seeing that they've got less weight, now, after the 1.2 update.
It's a nice track to race on, this one, especially with 8.0 litres and 675hp, and 800Nm of lazy V10 engine, to help you charge down the straights.
The Ferrari 360GT is also fun around this track, and really quick through the turns and under brakes, but, much slower on the straights, than the big GT cars.

I haven't got that track. I might download it and see how it goes ;)

Oh, don't forget, to get the update for it. From Tantra's website, it didn't have all the textures in the MAS file, originally. So you have to get the update, and the MAStudio 2002, and manually add the extra texture.
I have it on my computer (complete version, without the missing texture, since I repaired that myself), but, nowhere to upload it, since gtmod.m4driving.sm has gone down, along with the rest of the m4driving.sm network, including Tantra's website.
It should be online tomorrow, according to Allessandro Pollini, or the day after.
Nice track, though, very fast. And you can drive past the barriers, and, go right to the start of the runways, and go for a brisk top speed run, down the entire length of the runway.
The Viper will reach about 346km/hr..

Hmmmmmmm, very confusing circuit &(
I did 3 timed laps with a best of 1:47.077 in the Ferrari 360, but I am still "feeling" my way around there. I think it will take about 20 laps to learn it to the point of being able to push it harder.
I might do some more laps tomorrow and see how I go.

Initially, you brake too late, or too early, or just see the turn to late. There are not many sort of things to use for your braking points..

Tried the airbase circuit in another Ferrari, the F2002, and, boy, is it MEGA QUICK!
After 19 laps, I managed 1:10.626, just short of Juan Pablo's time of 1:10.203.
To do this time, I was doing through the first chicane, 266km/hr, and, through that long time at the back of the track, I was going flat at 289km/hr.
Out of the sharpest hairpin turn onto the 1st runway, I was using 2nd gear, and as much throttle as I dared to play with, before changing to 3rd, quickly.
I did spin a few times, but, I've got the spin recovery technique down to a fine art, so, I usually just whirl the steering wheel around, and, with appropriate use of the throttle, catch the spin just as the car is starting to face the right direction, then, continue on, in 3rd gear.
I think it could have been faster though, since it was pushing a bit, through the first turn, I think possibly half a second could be shaved from the time.

I have seen low 1:09's with no driver aids online Chris. Best I have pulled so far is a high 1:09, must admit that was with traction control though :)

Wish I could be competitive in F1 2002!
Was talking to [XR]Chef recently, and he said about Spa circuit, and he once had a 1:51, and now a 1:47, but found it so impossible to do around 1:41 I think he said, same as [XR]Evil..;)
SO I tried, first real racing of any circuit!
And only 1:54 or 1:55.. lol

It's a lot different to NFS:PU, that's for certain..
You've got to forget everything about NFS:PU, and, drive the cars in F12002 with care, and precision. A lap that might feel slow, because there was no sliding, or anything like that, and, everything was in control, will often be a very fast lap.

Spa is a track I have practiced and practiced and practiced some more on, I love the track and I always strive for the perfect lap :). I am with Chris 100% on this, you have to treat the cars like you would caress a woman LOL... treat the brake and throttle pedals like your testicles are under them (You would never want to stamp on those right :)). It is a tough game to master though, thats for sure... the crazy thing is, I can race with [LR]EVO in F1 and he always nails my ass to the wall! That guy is just so fast it is unreal :). Just don't give up wazza, it'll come to you :)

Also, you've got to give the car time to settle down, as well. In the opening laps of the race, even a Ferrari 360 GT can be a twitchy thing on cold tyres.
Just have to use really precise, and careful inputs of throttle, and steering. After 3 or so laps, then you can start to drive the Ferrari 360 GT with a bit more vigour.
Take that double left-hand section of corners at the Sachsenring, near the end of the lap (just before the pit-lane entrance). After a few laps, you can go very quick into the 1st sharp left corner, and, then get on the throttle heavier, to get the nose of the car positioned into the right attitude for the second sharp left hand corner.
I like the Sachsenring circuit, it has a nice blend of turns. It's really fun in a good handling, nimble car

Warren, are you drive GT or N-GT cars? Compared to the F1 cars, these ordinary GT-cars are much easier to start learning to drive with so much power.
I'm only driving N-GT so far, Ferrari 360 Modena, this has to be learned step by step ;)
and I see myself at the bottom of the stairs, it will take months and years to learn these cars.
The last week I suddenly start learn more about how to drive the car "on the edge", so now it starts to get fun.
Every time I do a new track, if I don't understand some of the corners, I do some tests with Alfa Romeo 147, that way I "see" the technical details of each curve better, because I am able to "read" the signals from the Alfa when I do something wrong.
Then I go back and test with the Modena 360 again, and it use to help me go faster immediately.
I'll do some laps at SPA tonite and see what I can make (N-GT), but now I'm going for 2-3 hours with real car, I must "blow" it clean after a long winther with low revs, 4000 - 6000 rpm here I come
And, just like in GTR2002, I must warm up the car for about 20 minutes before it's ready for action... :)
