Because it appears to be a common trait of the game to hang when attempting to load the intro some folks have made replacement F1 2002 intros, as little as 1Kb (so I've been told).
I had no success with the original exe and have also tried the no_CD exe but the game just hangs on the second loading screen (EA F1 2002 screen). Most likely as a result of the intro not loading.

Does anyone here know where I can find a replacement F1 2002 intro?

Thank you.

Sounds like it could perhaps be a car, or something, or maybe a track, that's not working, properly..

Ask Vince Klortho, he might be able to help you.

Rob, I'll have a look around the High Gear forum and see what I can turn up. The guys there did the one for F1 2001 as well which I use. I just never got around to grabbing the files for F1 2002

I do know that GTR2002's pregame program can have some troubles, if that's the one you are talking about?

If it does, use the GTRacing2002_lite.exe program, instead. It avoids the intro video. Especially good for Windows XP users.

Rob, I have found a few suggestions :)

One is to make sure the disk isn't in the drive when using the no-CD exe. Here is another:

Go in ur f12002\anim folder and delete the EAIntro.bik and the Eas.bik files.

Therefore, I would recommend backing up the Anim folder then deleting the files mentioned and taking the disk out before starting the game.

Let me know how it goes :)

Thanks for all of your suggestions guys, much appreciated -^

I don't know what I had done wrong before but I have reinstalled it for the third time and it's working now.

I just finished 13 laps of Albert Park in a Ferrari (everything in the game is stock including setups and all game settings). This is so easy to control, even with a keyboard. Unlike the disapointment of V8Challenge. Perhaps it's because its all on driver assistant settings by default (i.e. auto braking, anti spin, etc.) but even if that is the case it still handles much better than V8Challenge or PU.

Woo hoo, I'm gonna get to race (long term) online yet. :D

Anyone thought of making an Aussie V8 Supercars Mod for it yet? If so I'll be interested in helping out.

What Ferrari was it?

The F12002 Formula 1 car, or the Ferrari 360 GT (mid engine V8 race version of the 360 Modena), or the 550 GTO (big front engined V12 Viper like barge, with tonnes of power, and masses of torque).

The F1 car is pretty controllable, even with the driver aids off. I only leave the traction control set to low, for the F1 car. I think that is fairly realistic to the real one.

For the 360 GT, and the 550 GTO (I hardly race the 550, it's not my favourite), I use all the driver aids turn off.

The red ones go faster :hat:-^ heh

.... Formula 1 type thingy.

Late edit: BTW, I did find some replacement intro files. I might make a folder here at RacerPlanet for some F1 2002 downloads.

Ah.

I like this one a lot. See the attachment.

It's the one of the Ferrari 360 GT's from GTR2002. You'd like this one a lot. It's great fun, with the traction control off. Power slides are a hoot with this thing.

But, it doesn't have the scary acceleration of the Ferrari F12002, however, but, it's still fun.

Dave Yeah, the joys of my OptAss (almost) cable connection. Here's hoping I can get double figures in KB/sec downloads.
This is $70 a month well spent.... I think NOT!!

I might go for a few more laps before adding mods. While it's still working.
After all, I've only raced one car on one track so far.... and that wasn't a full race.
