grand prix legends and XP

since i changed to XP it doesn't run anymore
changed compatibility but only the start screen comes up
can someone help me
i changed also from pc
asus a7v8x amd xp2000+ geforce4 ti4200 128mb 8x AGP 512ddrpc2700

in open kart it is the same except error message "failed to create stream" ??

"stream" could that be referring to the gpl.avi? Anyway, this is odd since I installed XP over Win98 (no change in hardware tho) and had no major issues with GPL. I'd check that you have the D3D patch applied and active in the core.ini. Also, try posting to www.racesimcentral.com GPL forum, there's alot of expertise there.

Yup - the RSC forum is the place to go. I think this has been answered there before. If you look there is a technical forum and Garry Hoorn visits it regularly and should be able to help you.

cogsed: An unpatched GPL won't run with XP or Win2k at all!! And I would install the NVidia 30.82 drivers or newer.

- Install XP and if you can SP1 and all drivers (video, sound, wheel). If you have onboard sound, check Windows Update for drivers. Same procedure for Win2k / SP3, but you need DirectX 8.1 additionally.
- Install GPL, ignore the "Wininet.dll" error message and the "Active Movie" Warning.
- When GPL asks you wich rasterizer, choose "none" or "software"
(DON'T start GPL now)
- Install 1.2 patch from www.papy.com
- Install Fast CPU Fix from the same site
- Install the D3D patch from site above
--> Read the readme of the D3D Patch and follow the instructions!

- Run GPL, select D3D7 rasterizer if needed

If it doesn't run: Switch the desktop color depth to 16 bit.

That's a real challenge :)))) especially as the stats are being reset for PU.....

I haven't raced PU much in the last month, and have (with much effort, and loadsandloads of fun) managed to get down to GPLRank+50, and MonsterRank nearing +500..... (the Ring has a lot to answer for there :)))))))

As much as I love PU I've never had so much fun as in GPL .... and I still haven't beaten the AI yet (but I'm gonna soon) . It's such a fantastic sim......
