Can anyone tell me how to make a siren? I have siren wave files but does anyone know how to convert them to .bnk?
Thanks

Coming from an amatuer's point of view ...

I thought maybe that with the sirens too but in HS when you change track you change sirens too (that's how it happens to me anyway)

but if you find out please tell me how to as well.

Thanks,

There is a program called goldwave that you can use, I don't remember how, maybe someone knows.

no I don't.. it's been a long time since I remember hearing about this stuff. A post in the editors forum might yeild some guys that know more about it.

Maybe check some download sites for goldwave, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

I did a search on MSN and found goldwave but it didn't support .bnk files... the search continues

goldwave didn't directly support .bnk files, but if you opened them as a specific setting they could be edited. Need to ask some of the old editors, commander might know, what the frequency and other settings you need to use.

I don't exactly know how the imposting works though, do you want me to copy this thread to the Editing board, so that other editors can help you with this?

O.K. let's start at the beginning.

bnk files themselves are not supported by general sound programs...they are exclusive to need for speed.

1. So, open the bnk files for the particular car in the nfswizard.

2. Now double click them so you see individual samples.

3. Select the sample that you want to change and export it to your desktop. Right click the exported file on your desktop and write down the file properties taking careful note of all settings on each tab e.g. 16 bit mono etc.

4. rename the file mod1 or something simple.

5. now with the NEW siren sound rename it to the mod1 original filename.

6. Open the NEW siren sound in Goldwave. Click "Save As" NOT save!!!!

7. There is a pull down menu at the bottom and find the EXACT file properties of your original. Save it under those file properties ONLY.

8. Now import the saved file into NFSWIZARD and you're done.

9. If you try to play it in game and you get an exception error or no sound then you did not save it as the correct file property, so just do it again and change the file property in Goldwave.

P.S. import it to the sample files not just the bnk file or it wont work.

Good Luck and hope it was of help to you!
