Happy New Year

Sheesh I just sent an email to DC_D-Man asking to tell Josh that I can't login and all I had to do was re-register. DOH

Okay take it easy on me as of today I am a newbie. heh :D

I'm sorry I haven't been on for ages, some of you may know that I recently lost two hard drives and my monitor, well my SCSI CD and CDRW have also mysteriously died too....... all within weeks of each other. >( Grrrrrr.
So I'm thinking there is a serious problem perhaps in the motherboard, power supply or some component that is virtually eating at everything in my system.

I haven't done anything with the tutorial for this period of time although I haven't abandoned it. Luckily I was able to salvage it fom a dead hard drive and it is all in tact (not corrupted or shit like that). It will be finished and released a.s.a.p. I just don't know when things will be well enough to get serious with it again.

A mate brought around another hard drive for me to use (1.2Gb) while I wait for mine to be repaired or (replaced) so I hope to be back into the swing of things soon. He is aware that it might also die by my cursed system, but he is cool with it. It will allow me to continue as this HD I am currently on is only 800Mb which leaves litle space to do anything on for all the programs (and games) I need to compile this tutorial. I have to uninstall some programs to install others and back again and it's just not worth the frustration in this heat wave we are having.... especially when I discover I forgot something and have go back again etc.

Correct, Justin, the custom smilies haven't been implemented yet, I have been busy re-collecting (and also finding a few new ones) all the emoticons we used to have. I actually tried to instal them earlier today, but it seems there is a little problem with that as well... it's being worked on though, to be continued.

Justin : Sorry mate, I really wanted to get a beta of the tutorial off to you and others who have contributed to it. But as you know the sort of luck I've had kinda put a spanner in the works.

Remko : I can cut you about 15-20 degrees Celcius and still be hot, so hw much would you like? I dn't know how to do send it electronically (e-mail etc.) and when I try to send it via snail mail the heat instantly dries the envolope after I lick it & before I can seal it. And they say light is the fastest source. They obviusly have never tried posting during an Aussie heat-wave. heh ;)

That thought has already crossed my mind :p I even started redesigning the site with some different colours and a slightly different layout, but then I decided to scrap that idea. If I'm going to re-design it, I might as well go ahead and change the whole layout :)

So if anyone comes across a site with a nice layout/design, let me know and it might help give me some ideas!

OH, BTW: I just got a message on my answering machine from Phil (WC Outlaw). He has successfully moved over here to Canada, and is in the midst of setting up his PC again. I'm pretty sure that the montior went due the heat. I was about to shut down only 5 minutes prior but wanted to finish off something before then. That'll teach me for doing soo many "all-nighters" in a row.
Not taking any more chances I have the cover off the monitor I am currently using so the fan can actually blow through it.

in the past two weeks...

- my dvd-rom drive has disappeared,along with my cd-rw

- i received the loveletter virus,and it deleted all my jpg`s and stuff like that...and made me think that it delelted all my mp3`s too

- BellSouth DSL cut me off for more than a week

- my HD also failed and i had to go get a new one...i had all my mp3`s on back up cds,but all my programs are gone...so i am in the process of re-downloading and re-installing...just installed xp again yesterday

me thinks i need some thermal grease also...

but its all good...

D_Man : We spoke last night so that's answered. BTW as you recall around 9-ish the subject was of spiders. Well at 9 lastnight Jen walked into a spider and it's web in the dark and in her panic she fell down the front verandah stairs. As you also know her verandah has several steps. Amazingly she never hurt herself.
I just thought it was ironic that it happened as we were talking about them at the same time. Maybe if we weren't on the phone I may have heard her screams. heh she asked if I did.

Diana (a.k.a damage.com) was once employed by E.A. as a beta tester for High Stakes. She then went on the MS payroll spreading her charm through the "direct X" labs. But she has also been a long term close friend since before HS wa released.

As you may recall I wasn't sure if it was the released beta or a pre-release and I was awaiting word from you as it doesn't show correctly on my system lately.

n/p hum. It's just good to know it was the released beta. I had David (DC-D_Man) on the phone looking for his copy of it because half of it wouldn't display on my system.
I installed other back-ups I have of it, I downloaded new drivers, direct X, re-installed the game a couple of times and even changed hard drives back and forth because I couldn't work out why half the textures were/are see-thru. All because you requested the track and I promised to get it to you "before my next post".

Talk about hitting the panic button!


BTW, no offense taken bud. After all, they were my own words ;) I actually use "Ye ol' fart" as a regular handle several years ago on nfscheats. Back then, over there, even 20 was considered old.

I never did find my dowmloaded copy of the performance centre, but I do have it installed in HS. Maybe I could just zip the folder.

BTW, I hope you have stocked up on some coldies as temperatures will be over 40 Celcius on Saturday. It was a "mild" 37 here today - aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm getting sick of this heat.

Thanks all the same. BTW it should have been called Performance EXE (Application) using the "Wise" installer program..... unless I sent you a pre-release of it. I had several non-official beta testers I can't recall if you were one of them. Sorry, you know my memory. So if yours is a zip file you haven't got the released version.
