When i started this 3DS conversion from "3DCafe" I wasn't sure if I could do it...
But as time went on and I started to learn more about 3D programs and some of my computers limitations, the possibility of this project became clearer and clearer.
So I slaved away removing many poly's and texturing tiny little triangles ('til my eyes started bleeding)... and I finally did it!!! :D
So now with great pride I would like to introduce (holy mackerel I hope nobody else released this before me!)
The high poly (5849) 1992 Dodge Stealth R/T.....
Yaaaaayyyyy.... Yahooooo.... Woooppppeeeeeeee!!!!!
There's an ingame screenshot below...
My computer is a P2 350 with an 8mb ATI card and 128 ram, 17" monitor, and it runs suprisingly well on this older junker...
I'll be putting it up on my website as well as NFSGarage, so look for it soon...
I also have a 1984 Camaro Z28 that I will be doing next :p -^

I used the Optimize filter that comes with "3Dstudio Max" and POOF! there they went...
I've never used those filters before and now I'm going to try a few more to see what they do! )=) :? =[ &(

Yeah, i found that the optimise modifier is a quiick and nasty way of doing the mb lb and tb body parts, although when you get to the tb extreme, the textures get screwed up.
It works, i believe monaro, by fusing all the polys together.
I dont suppose you have any idea who made the original mesh? I admit i converted a Dalek (DRWho) from 3dcafe which i had to poly reduce, but there was no notice of the author and there was no readme included in the file, and i cant help but feel a little guilt that he has no idea that his mesh was used.

It looks just like the real thing!
Does the 5849 polycount include the interior?

Looks great Sniper -^ -^
Take a few screens and write notes as you do the next one. We haven't got anything on converting 3Ds, working with 'em, etc. in the killer tutorial. :D Please.
Hey Monaro, funny that you have the Lukey muffers logo as your sig pic. I used to work for Lukey mufflers. :D ... 18 years ago. :(

As always thanks for the kind words guys.
I agree with you guys it's a shame that I can't give credit for these great mesh's to the proper person, but I look at it this way, I'm upfront about saying that it came from "3D cafe" and that it's not my work, and he's always free to contact me and let me know who he is, and the owners of these mesh's put them up there to be used and enjoyed, I hope.
What better way than turning them into rolling, crashing, cruising, great sounding, adrenaline pumping speed machines for these great games.
I hope that everyone can enjoy the fruits of my work and the original authors as a co-project of sorts, and that nobody gets upset with me 'cause I really like doing this and it really looks good in the game.
Acca, I don't think I could explain how to do a 3ds conversion it's all a bit hit and miss and trial and error, I've done things that worked for some and not for others and I've been frustrated many times trying to texture these things just right only to have to start over. I will say that it's very time consuming and tricky, anybody with specific questions can contact me if they wish, but I think I'm the only guy crazy enough to even attempt this sort of thing.
Well that's the longest post I've ever made thanks for reading all the way to here...:HB:
P.S. here's a nice Camaro I'm working on now!!!!
edit: Oh ya! There's no interior on this one I felt that it was quite polygon intensive already without one so the 5849 is for the body and 4 tires alone. When it comes out on NFSGarage you can open it up with carcad or fcefinish and have look at what I did...

Very smooth Camaro, Thomm mate -^ -^
No worries about the 3Ds tut, it was worth a shot to ask. If ever you change your mind just holler and I'll be glad to add it with everything we already have.
Keep up the great work -^
