LAN problem in PU

I just bought two copies of NFS PU amd installed them on two machines.

They both play single player fine.When I go to multi by peer-to peer IP,one computer always goes to desktop sayin,"Shape error in line 69",or something.

I love this game(much better than Viper Racing),and I purposly bought two copies to avoid any problem copying.I have tried updating,and adding the "new" cars from EA.

Same deal,as soon as I (or my bro) hit race the same computer pops to desktop.Whether its hosting or joining,its the same computer.

Both systems are identical(AMD K7 and GF2 pro and win XP).

Im havin this trouble on one system ONLY?!?!

Re-installed it twice,updated it twice.Did I forget anything?

Here is the EXCACT ERROR MESSAGE:

shape_clut -INVALID SHAPE TYPE
[file=\real\pc\shpclut.c,line=69

Its an ERROR TERMINATE EXECUTION box,which kills it.

Im at wits end and still holding reciepts.

I haven't tried online play,but i dont want that.I wanna know why two exact same systems on two exact same installs(typical),it is killing ONE MACHINE?!?!

NO MATTER WHAT CAR I PICK,or WHAT TRACK I PICK.


Thanks for any help anyone can offer before wed,as thats my cut off on returning them(actually Id return just one,I like tis game anyways and it was worth 20 bucks).


I like to think Im a good trouble shooter(list way to long to show here...lol),but I spent all weekend trying and trying,and no luck.

I changed the graphics to 1024x768x16...and it works?!?!?

I can run 32 bits in single,but only 16 in multi?!?!?


Odd indeed,

I found a german site that had the error on it,but Ive forgotten the german I had in HS..most anyways....

If anyone cares to post a fix though,Id apprecieate it.

32bit or not ,this game is neato.

We need a Ferrari UNLEASHED and Ill be a happy car nut.
