Thanks NFS racer. Two out of three are mine. :D I'm not posting very much any more. Takes too much energy and time.
You might check out the Trophy Cup (TCC) at Yahoo groups:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the_trophycup/
I've been starting to do track analyses for SCGT again. There are some there that you might find interesting. Here are some message #s: 235 - Kyalami; 216 - Indianapolis GP; 196 & 198; Sardian Park; 189 - Monza GP; 18 - Nurburging.
You can also find some hotlaps to go with the analyses in the file section there.
There is also some setup info I've done in the file section as well. I never finished it, but it may be of value. Either as is or as a basis for you to complete.
As I do more work, I'll be sure to post it here as well.
The only thing I ask is credit for my work. The older messages (here and at TCC) were when I was a member of the Demolition Crew. Just use "McGregor" without any preceding initials. I would assume the same for others that have contributed.

In one of the past exchanges, there was a discussion of exactly what the apex of a corner was. To justify my position :), I did a search and found this link:
http://www.turnfast.com/tech_driving/driving_cornering.lasso
It's quite good. The link to the beginning of the article is:
http://www.turnfast.com/tech_driving/driving.lasso
I haven't yet read the whole article. I'll look into it today.
There was an excellent article on looking ahead. I'll see if I can find the link and post it here. Briefly, what it says is:
When you are approaching your marker, shift your view to the next marker. If you wait until you have hit that first marker, you are likely to miss the next. You will still see the current marker with your peripheral vision. It enables you to make a smooth transition from one point to the next.
I've gotten the greatest benefit by looking ahead to the turn-out point before I get to the apex point. I still hit my apex, but I am able to see any error in my line in advance. I can then make corrections earlier, rather than later. There is nothing worse than having to tighten up the corner at the very outside of the road on the exit of the corner. Except having to lift at the same point, which is much worse.
To understand why that is important, consider the late apex corner. You give up a little speed and time by braking earlier and turning earlier in order to gain a higher exit speed. It's counterproductive to lose that advantage by having to tighten the corner up (losing speed) at the very last part of the corner.

Sorry i forgot to change that. I'm taking that web site down soon though. I got a new site now that i'm working on. And it's not a geocities this time. It's an acrual .com website! I have to use dreamweaver for it which i'm still learning the basics of.
