View Full Version : at last Australian Made 09-29-2002, 07:59 PM we have a racer forum here too great work josh and justin now the problem will be getting the hg people to come here, i had lots of problems with ghg users coming here cause they complained about popups but my forum grew eventually nice work guys Aussie Muscle 09-29-2002, 10:25 PM yeah this'll save me going to another forum/board/site;) i dont know if you'll get many highgear persons here, and i'm not sure if there's an easy way to get them here either. the main other forum that was suggested at hg was race sim central, which uses the exact same ubb (even the blue colour!) i never noticed the popups, because i use naviscope;) nothing says you have to look at advertising! Justin Martin 09-30-2002, 06:53 AM Yeah, if you run a firewall or a popup stopper, the popups aren't a big deal. But if I try to log on at college, I get loads of popups. Hopefully, now that we are on a new server we can afford to remove the popups and survive on banner ads alone. Radical-Al 10-01-2002, 12:08 PM If this sounds corner and it must, all I know about racer is that it is a car game with the ability to support cars over 10,000 polygons, never played it, never going to play it, don't know where to download it, and PU is just fine for me being as it is the only game that came with my computer, except minesweeper, solitare and freecell or whatever. Aussie Muscle 10-01-2002, 05:47 PM well, al, racer still has a long way to go, but its starting to look good with a wide variety of cars and tracks (way more than nfs5) and its a lot cheaper (its free!). If you are into making your own cars or tracks for NFS, you'll find that racer is a lot easier in the long run and as you say can handle 10k polys cars (without a noticable frame rate drop) try d/l it here http://racer.m4driving.sm/beta/rr050b5.exe this is racer beta 0.505 its about 10 meg http://www.racer-xtreme.com/ for a lot of cars and tracks "Racer is a free car simulation project, using real car physics to get a realistic feeling. Cars, tracks, scenes and such can be created with relative simplicity in mind (compared to other driving simulations). The 3D and other file formats are, or should be, documented. Editors and support programs are also available to get a very flexible and expandable simulator. It uses OpenGL for rendering. " |
