Anyone who knows ...
I have the TAS and NT cop cars. Both from what I can see are blue. Anyway to make the car blue without modifying the textures?
Also in single races etc I know you can change car colour. Is this possible for cop cars in HP? Fir instance if you go into hot pursuit can you select the Commodore Exec and be able to change colours on them for different states or not?
Thanks

you'll have to edit the texture because nfs surpresses the generated colours. You can have the colour/state-scheme selectable by using the country selector that nfs uses. uk.tga, fra.tga, ger.tga are the countries and will be selected based on which track you select to race on.

Thanks Kev.
I'll try that out. How do you suggest editing the textures? Any hints?
I ask because if you go straight over it with blue it would look a but funny in the game.

First thing make a copy of it and save as whatever xxxxx.bmp
Always work with this backup before distroying the TGA file. After all is done you can copy and paste it onto the TGA file.
For safe keeping send me the TGA file as it is now. I will wait until you have the absolute desired effect before deleting it from my drive.
To edit the colours with minimal fuss just use the function from the "Colors" menu: "Adjust" then "Hue/Saturation/Lightness" of Paint Shop Pro or similar.
OR
again from the function of the "Colors" menu: "Adjust" then "Red/Blue/Green" of Paint Shop Pro or similar.
This will give your textures a gently tint if used in moderation which saves redoing the whole car. Always make back-up copies before you start or simply close the image without saving but If you keep blotching it up send me the original and I'll do it within minutes for you.
First try it yourself but if you need help just holler.

Thanks Acca.
It'll have to wait a bit now because all my stuff is now in storage (on CD ROM) until I can move it from this PC to the one in my room.
So I cant really do much with no psp, textures etc.

Sorry - now that I re-read what I wrote ...
When I get all my files transferred across I'll send you a backup of the two cars textures and try to stuff around with them here.
Thanks for your help and offer of backing up my textures. Being a first time editor I have stuffed up big times before.

LOL, listen mate if anyone (editors) says they have never made any stuff ups when editing then they are liars.
Gawd knows I still make many after so many years of poking at it. I do try new experiments though which account for probably half to three quarters of 'em. The rest of my screw ups are just because of dead braincells gone silly :D heh
No idea why

the reason we dont bitch about stuff ups is because after dozens of wreck car files and hours of lost work is one simple rule: backup everything!
my suggestion for colouring artificially is similar to Acca's. select the body colours and in photoshop, i use the colour balance, which allows you to make colour alterations without loosing too much detail. i dont imagine psp has this feature.=[

Thanks Kev.
I have a copy of Photoshop but we have lost the registration number (I thinm it was in with all the documentation for an older computer which we threw out when we moved before Christmas)
But I will try the coloring thing shortly when I get my files on our second computer.
At least now I know the texture files are on CD rom at least!
BTW - How would you add areals?? I have some antennas (ready made as parts) which I want to add to the cars for detail. But it seems when I add them the car flies.
I add them to the car as parts - position them then fuse them to the body.
When I get in the game the car has antennas but it's quite some distance off the ground. ANY HELP PLEASE !!!!! Thanks&(

The cars fly because the antenna upsets the symetry or centering of the vehicle. you can compensate by moving all the parts down with carcad's part editor (shift-2 is down). move em down 1 or 2 clicks and the car should be closer to the ground, i know ive released a few flyers before.

Hmm - I thought the use of Aussie Muscle ceased and you were using V8 Grunt. &(
Anyhow that's not what I'm posting for. When I get back into carcad etc I'll try that.
You guys are so helpful I wish there was someway to pay you all back!!
[Also - how exactly do you do that trick?? I tried it on carcad and couldn't get anything to even look like it had moved or something. Put simple ---- Please give me a run through how to move it down! Thanks.]
Thanks so much,
