Yup sorry I havent beena round much, or updated the situation. My brother was down here for holidays. But I'm back into things now so the site should be abck up soon.

Only problem is I have to re-add all the cars. I HAD a backup, but unfrotunately my home PC crashed and I was forced to re-format. Horrible timing :(

 Ugh, you'll have to re-upload all 800+ cars to the 'Garage? :( Murphy's law at work there...

Thanks Matt.

I hope so too. I've got Jeff (BMWSport) all ready to help me add cars, but I have to re-build the database structure first, which is proving to be a bit more of a pain then I first though.

Hopefully it will all be ready to go this weekend sometime :)

How many times has the server gone down so far for you mike? And how many times have you brought the site back? Every time! You always amaze me mike. whenever things are at there worst for your site you just get up and start again. And for what? Not for money? But for all your supporters! I'm glad you didn't give up! But really bad timing for your computer to crash with your backup file on it. Good luck!!!

Just echoing NFSracer's post word for word.
So true, Mike and Josh are real pillars in the NFS community. -^ -^

I'd buy them a beer (or fifty) any day of the week.

Shit yeah, ..... anything to take that car of yours for a spin. :D

this is why. The link goes to what used to be the ford cars on the site. All the cars are still there, but there is no link to them from the main site of nfsgarage.
i can also type in http://www.racerplanet.net/nfsgarage/nfs4/cars/lambroghini/ (http://www.racerplanet.net/nfsgarage/nfs4/cars/ford/) and it will show all lambroghini cars. So uploading all the cars again may not be necessary. Then again i may be wrong about this but wouldnt this be better than uploading all of them again?

bahamut - yeah, we know that, Racerplanet is on two servers, a HTML and a FTP server. The FTP server never was affected by the crash.

I think what Mike meant by re-adding the cars is re-adding the pages, not the car files. You see, cars were added to NFS Garage on the web through scripts. And the last backup Mike had of the cars that had been added was from April.

The only problem is that the user uploaded cars were added to the HTML server, so they were lost. :(

Yeah, Mike and I use a lot of scripting and databases. We lost the database that the pages were built from on the fly, so we gota re-add everything to the databases again. :(

Even though you guys may have already known of it I still think that was great imput of bahamut_2006 -^ -^
I, for one, didn't know that. ???

bahamut_2006 : Just letting you know the info is appreciated mate. Please understand the guys are working around the clock to get everything up and running again and they weren't ungreatful for your post.

Thank you very much for telling us, mate. -^ -^

Please don't hesitate to share any other discoveries.

That goes for everyone and anyone. Together we will build this network better than ever before!

Bless you all.

Actually, I'll have to delete all those files anyway. Like what Josh and Justin mentioned, the car information (carname, author etc...) was all stored in the database, which was lost.
