I found some pics that the E.A.Sports site doesn't even have.

http://www.totalnfs.net/v8chal/Image10.jpg (http://www.totalnfs.net/v8chal/Image9.jpg)

Click the pics to enlarge

They obviously textured the Bathurst track before last October (Bathurst race weekend) as those FAI sponsors at the finish line (footbridge) were "Cougar" advertisements last year.... Unless FAI is outbidding for that spot again this year.

I know what you're thinking but YES they are ingame pics and NOT the real life deal.

F-------------k'n unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The graphics look awesome, I have been waiting 10 years for game like this. I remember I bought a game about 6 years ago..like Bathurst or some thing simular.. Man it was crap. It was like real photo background and cartoon cars superimposed on the track… ever since that day I have stayed away from local car games… That Dick’old’fart racing looked crap…. Glad I didn’t buy it. One of the reasons I bought HS was for the Commodore pity it was so slow compared to the other cars….

They say the 11th… I might even try one of the stores on the Sunday the 10th They would have to receive stock before the weekend. Makes you wonder if they have stock in the back room now, Any Aussie people in Brisbane know anyone with a computer store outlet???..

Hehehe…. Get a P4 1.9 gig with DDR ram delivered today for work…time to do some work home swapping of PC’s….. The graphics should run at max on a 1.9 gig machine with my Voodoo5……. Can’t wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!……

PS... about bloody time they did a real game with the Aussie V8's it is one of the best forms of motor racing in the World!... very simular to the Corvette cup they have touring the US...

Kidding $80 bucks

About 4 weeks later traded it in at one of those PC game swap shops....I got 5 dollars for it...about 4 dollars more than it was worth... I swear it was crap!..

Mark, they most closely resemble in performance the TransAm series in North America.
TransAm is still pretty good but many years ago they forced them to run low restriction mufflers, which ruined the whole effect!
No such restrictions over there from what I hear on TV!

cool pics , thanks mate:D

just a question, in GT3 they didn't include a HRT racing car in the game because EA has the license for HRT-HSV-holden.........

but why does this game hace a ford tickford and so does GT3?

Man I have mine on pre-order for the 11th.

The stores which definately are getting it are Harvey Norman stores and Games Wizards. I havent checked with other places

But the stock around the back ... ages ago I held a box they were going to use for display. This was before Christmas.

Makes you wonder ... plus they were supposed to get it 15 Dec 2001.

Mark : It was called "Bathurst 1000". I got suckered into it too. The track was so narrow passing was impossible. and the cars looked like cardboard cutouts glued to icypole sticks. Not even on a straight angle. I think that rear/side view was the game's only view.

I took mine back to Target where they have a no questions asked policy. heh Lucky I always cut the plastic wrap neatly so as to open the box without removing the clear wrapping. Helps protect the box.

Kev : Trust me mate, you do not want that game. Dick Johnstons challenge is 100% on that P.O.S. !!!

Dylan : True the damaged taillight lens shows they use far more polys than HS. Hey no hard feelings on replacing the Supercars I edited. I never did much except for the paintjobs.
As for the V8 Brutes, well that's exactly what the real ones are (basically the same except for the war-paint) as there are restrictions as to what they can alter. The commentators at Bathurst said they are the same as the sedans in modifications.

Y2kGoofball : heh, I've held the big display box too. Same image on both sides. I must have worn the ink of the display box at out local store ....with my eyes. ;)

how much will the game cost?

l saw a advertisemetn saying it will be 70$ which is cheap for a New game, dont u think?

l know l cant afford 100dollars ATM for a a new game, so if it's $70
l should be able to buy it.......

anyone know about the online racing?

AccadaccA
02-01-2002, 06:46 PM
Yes $70 is what they've advertised it for. To bad the catalog came out with it advertised two months before it's release. I had a go at staff in two "Software Botique" stores about the false advertising. They just cringe and say it's out of their hands what gets put in their catalog. Which is true but at least their management should now hear what the public think of their broken promises. Fair enough if they said "coming soon" but they just made us believe it was already in stock.

As far as online racing goes, I think that all the V8Challenge site says is something like "race over IP connection" or similar.

MattB
02-01-2002, 10:52 PM
lol acca, l just called electronics botique (same as softwarebotique?? ) and they told me it was $70bucks and will be released on the 14FEB. $70 dollars seem like a very good price too

l also have the mag from EB and they advertised V8challenge a few months ago.....

as for online racing, this is wat it says on the v8challenge site
''Multiple game modes, including championship, single player and full LAN and Internet multiplayer support''

l hope we can all take part in online racing:D

Sorry my mistake. It was "Electronics Boutique" I meant. The fake arse b@stards!!

Y2kGoofball
02-02-2002, 03:29 AM
That's where Mickcals is getting his from .. I wouldnt touch the place because the Penrith store SUCKS.

They managed to put a game aside for me for the Playstation. When I went to pick it up they told me it was for the N 64 and I could have that for a greater price. So I let rip but it didnt get me far.

BTW any one a member with Games Wizards? They have a discount so if I get it from there it will be $60.00

If any 1 has a store near them a free membership aint so bad for that discount!!

Acca (sorry I read the posts from last page to first for some reason!!) ...

glad someone else got to hold the box too. Not many people beleive you when you say you have.

I dont know if this is the same game but Bathurst 1000 - Touring Car Champions. Made 1997 I got it for 6 bucks brand new.

I still have the game! It's a cardboard car with a real video track. Drives like a Ford ... umm i mean crap ... acctually doesnt drive at all - the video moves. Pretty crap but I've kept it because it's like the first V8 game ever isnt it??

the electronics beatique closest to me is a very good shop, its always got alot of ppl in it even real early in the morning, they are nice ppl too

Y2kGoofball
02-02-2002, 03:00 PM
Yeah I know where that shop is.

Hey - when I was working in the Penrith Plaza (that's where our EB store is) I was walking past first thing - right after they just opened and this guy was in there going ballistic.

I never have been back in there (I dont think I'm welcome there either)

But I've heard other stores are good. Just the manager of Penrith is a complete wanker.

i don't think my puter can run it but i'm buying anyway to see, and if it don' t run i'm buying a new puter

Wazza
02-05-2002, 01:28 AM
Yeah.. they stopped at the 85 commodore coz the newer ones fell apart too easy and resulted in high death toll. So only the good Ford's are allowed to come in....
:D

anyway... online racing is the beast!
PU online is really fun.. being interactive with other people.. and whipping their asses is another enjoyment... ;)

MattB
02-05-2002, 01:54 AM

GP3 is currently available for $20 at Electronics Boutique, best bargain I ever saw, I'm a Bathurst Nut with a full photo set, I've scrutineered the photos's and the screenshots and have come up with no criticisms except that that V8 was revving past the 7500 RPM limit, but if this was done to increase playability I think I can forgive that.
