Ok, i got sick of turning off my firewall to have a v8c game. the solution was a public server.
We will meet at Telenordia server (if we need extra people)
or gamespace.nz if we want a more private game (usually no one there!)

Having played V8C online for one week i'm am convinced that public online games are crap!
'racing human opponents online is more challenging' - True, but there are also lots of dickheads who do everything they can to spoil it. like knocking every other car off the track, like going wrong way on the track and giving the race leader a black flag. Because of 'players' like this most game rooms set races to be 'no collision' and that sucks big time as its not real racing. I also hate the fact that AI (computer driven) cars do not have collision when they are enabled (so you can't block them)
a lot of the problems could be fixed by Dice/EA, but they are
tite ass 8|!@#%@$
The point of all this grieving is that i really wanted this 'RP racing league' idea to continue. unfortunately no one else does. Anyway, i've tried to keep a 'V8C group' going for casual races, rather than official league races (like y2k suggested). Plus the fact that there isnt' enough racers to make it interesting.
If enough people reconsider, we can use the gamespace.nz server as its been empty every time ive been there. (meaning no one will go off if we password it, unlike the other ones)

Kev, we are starting from scratch for next year with the comp, and it will be made up of you, me, Mickcals, Alex, Nick and any other racerplanet members, that way we can race w/o being dickheads (btw Mickcals it wasnt me hiding at Bathurst planing to knock you off the track:rolleyes: )
Y2k
Well I've improved on the track!!! when I get my comp fixed(already I know)I'll race

I think this comp is going to be great, but what type of points method are we going to use: the V8 Challenge, F1, V8 Supercars, etc (and Y2k i saw what you were trying to do)
And are we going to have a car of our own because that will save alot of confusion, and another point are we going to make team skins?

Count me in - I'd love to go for a drive.
Can't guarantee I'll be really competitive, but my one-off lap times aren't too far off par - it's the consistency that get's me in the end as the tyres fry and concentration lapses. I'm also getting used to a new wheel.
How bad does the lag get with a game like this? Regardless it sounds like a lot of fun so long as everyone plays fair.

I find lag isn't too bad, but nick (aka perko_rulz) says his is bad.
occasionally the cars jump around due to the lag, and one one occasion the car jumped and re-appeared right where i was, making my car jump into the air.
making our own team skin is recommended and fun
here's mine:

They look great Kev, and yes a brilliant idea to air our creativity. And realistic too - think about it "You can play with us; but first go and make yourself a car". I don't know who said that, but it's the real world isn't it.
Um, your racerplanet car; looks wild, but, do we need numbers on both sides? If we are going to open this up for the general public to play next year or whenever it's happening, we should set some gidelines as to number display/placement, and silly things like foul language and stuff - just to cover ourselves in case someone tries to be smart and causes trouble.
Ahh - hang on, now I realize your bumpers and windscreen banners are different too. Those snaps are of different cars - so maybe you spotted the number after all. Regardless, we should decide whether to assign numbers, or even if we need them at all, etc.
