Well, we are slowly getting a team here at V8 Shakes, and I would like to introduce our newest member CookeMJ.
You probably know him from Aussie Muscle forum. He has some ideas about the site, especially with uploading. And he tells me he is a Ford man.
That makes out team a total of 6 members! yes 6 !!!
(Y2k, Nick, Alex, Matt B, Mickcals (well, sorta anyway) and CookeMJ)
:Peace: :Peace: :Peace:

Hi y'all - Cookie's in Da Houze!
Err, yes, well; I'm glad to be aboard and I hope I can help this site achieve it's ultimate goal. I will be involved with editing, and I'd like to try a hand at the online racing if there's still spots open - somebody has to come last (fearing lag as much as lack of skills).
So far I figure we're going to have F real, F fantasy, F ute, H real, H fantasy, H ute. Right? Like Perko said - who does what? (and forgive me if I don't know anyone's real name - I'm Michael by the way, nice to meet you).
Anyhew, thanks for the warm welcome and I look forward to being involved in this. BTW have you finalised a logo? I'm going to do a quick and proffessional looking "copyright job" (shhh!) of the official one just to have a look at.

Umm, our jobs
Can we wait until alex finishes the website and see where we are at then??
I am certain there will be still be sections to make it easier, but we will have to wait and see.
As for the logo I have done the same thing, but yeah I dont want to infringe copyright=((
As for online racing, we have canned that for this year, but you can join the first official season next year.
Sorry for all the hassle and confusion, we will get there and it will all be worth it

Nice to have you on the team CookeMJ
Y2k if you want I can organise the online racing comp for next year
Well I wasn't able 2 use the comp on Sat or Sunday as I was out so the site hasn't chagned from wat U all saw it from. but I'm gonna try and make an upload thing for each member so they don;t have 2 use the FTP or the other one. But it would be the group only access. And when i get my new comp I hopfully will be better at racing cos i'll be able 2 use it all the time.

ok them mickcals, how would we go setting up a form like what VQ has said where only the group would have access?
It would need to allow each member access to the uploads folder so they could check the cars, then publush them on a webpage.
Just curious, and you did say to ask for help
Y2k
BTW I dont need practice I just need the time to sit in front of a computer and be able to play the dammned game. I hasnt played V8 Challenge for so long that after I finally found where the CD was I had to clean the dust on the case
Ok well I'm gonna get the site done by the end of the holidays Hopefully. And good luck practising in V8chalange Y2K!!!:HB:

OK Y2k heres the answer to your question
You have a section for members who access the skins by username and password, they then came upload skins and do what ever else they need to do

yeah, but what I mean is the scripting. How would you do the script?
I have been writing the cgi script for uploading cars which is hard enough. We need to consider for us to access the cars like that we NEED ftp access, not html.
I mean it is easy enough to setup a p/w page which links to another page, but that other page isnt the folder on the server
The idea is there just the feasibility of it
Y2k
Well we could set it up like a guest book and it would be pssworded to get in to them bits and they uplaod the thing through that. I could probably ask the admin at skool to code something like that if U want but we would have to wait till after the holidays.

Yeah, ok.
But I still dont see how we will be able to access the folders and server via html / http. It is accesible only via FTP.
Because what your saying is this ... the new plan would be for example, I would log onto the page via my p/w. Then it gives access to the folder. I get the car then somehow via the html add it to the v8shakes page?
The way to do it atm is to log on via FTP program (FTP), access the folder then in html code the page to include the link of the car
But if its possible then I wont have any problems
Y2k -^
Well Y2k no thats not wat I mean U know how the Geustbooks wqork when u type something in and it send it to a site? well like that cept u upload the file and info about it.
Well guess wat the sites UP!!! I just need to add the links to the cars thats all but the main thing is that it's up!!! and btw U need flash to view links for it otherwise it's fine may not be the best in the world but not the worst.
