So, what are your favourite four door saloons?

I must admit, I have a love for the Maserati Quattroporte Ottocylindri (The Evoluzione version):

This car has serious attitude. Luxury interior, 5 seats, and a fantastic 3.2 litre biturbo Quad-cam 32 valve V8. (What a raw, hard-edged V8 sound!) Quick through corners, too, this Quattroporte is:

Overtaking is always fun in this car.

One of the most outrageous devices to ever power a "gentlemans carriage" which must go head to head with Jaguar.

Mostly, I love the style of this car, and the incredible performance it has, and I'm addicted to its engine note. Top speed is supposed to be 280km/hr (though I'd never know, since I've never driven one that quick).

Audi RS6, without a doubt. If I absolutly had to have more room, i'd get an S8, but otherwise, i'll go with the RS6. More power beats more room in my book any day. :D

Irrational second choices would be the Jaguar XJR and Bentley Arnage T, both for their British character.

I have said before that I consider the Alfa 156 as one of the greatest saloons of the last decade (although that's mainly a looks thing for me), but to keep up with this company, I'd probably take an XJR. In silver. :shades:
Old fashioned it may be (especially in terms of interior space), but I love its combination of old-world grace and performance when it's needed. ;)

I probably could have also mentioned the HSV Senator 300 (a 30 model limited production run), with 300kW, since it has massive acceleration, and brakes that would pop your eyeballs out of their sockets, along with fantastic resale value, but, the HSV just isn't as special as the Maserati.

The Maserati has this enthusiastic feel to it, wickedly encouraging you to drive it quickly. The Quattroporte and the XJR may not be the most rational choices, but they have a flare and personality that eludes the BMW M5, Mercedes Benz E55 AMG, and the Audi RS6.

I'm still a little bit sad that the old Quattroporte is no longer built, and that the famous 8V-4AC32 engine is no-longer done. It was a great engine, that one. All heart, and with a vibrant personality. But, the new 4.2 litre engine is every-bit as enthusiastic as the old one, but just without the turbo noise, and lag.

Chris- I'm with you on the HSV senator 300. But european I'd go for the VW phateon V10 TDi version. Only cos of the sheer size and torque of the engine.

i dunno what a saloon car is (i dont realy care) but my favourite car is the current BMW M3's, bloody nice cars.

Ever heard an M5? This is what they sound like (this is a recording of the Z8, which has the same incredible V8):

They are both nice, but, the 1st one is more than 2 minutes of refined V8 roar, around the Zandvoort race circuit. In the recording, the get passed by a Formula Renault.

The best 4-door saloon has got to be the BMW 330ci. Any BMW in general is a good car.

330Ci = Coupé
330i = 4 door saloon

I also like the 330, but, only the Coupé.. The 4 door saloon has those blobby headlight covers, which look really crook. It also has that unhappy (downturned) lower air intake, too.
