Hi all,
I decided to drop F2 (F3 was dropped almost immediately) and train on GP cars only.
Why?
The reason is quite simple: when moving from F2 to GP, the driving style is so different that I rarely could benefit from having trained on F2. On the contrary, sometimes the lines learned with F2 cars can slow your learning curve to GP cars.
An example: Silverstone left handers, like the "Maggotts"
On F2 you can drive through it on a clean line from entrance to exit, since your speed is not enough to cause problems with the tyre grip. But, on GP cars, you must approach the turn in a totally different way: you should turn in a little more than you think is necessary, and actually aim for the curb, then use the throttle to let the car drift out to the right side of the track as you exit.
So, if on F2 you concentrate on the cleaner line, on GP you keep your focus on drifting techniques, on tailbraking and such.
I still think that F2 (and F3, FD, FG) can be a good alternative, a way to extend the game playability on different grounds, and I like to race against AI drivers on F2 to allow a more "relaxed" driving and concentrate on the battle, rather than on lap times.
Also online F2 races should give the same advantage.
But, for a beginner like me, maybe it's better to stay away from anything else than GP...
Any thoughts or hints on the subject?
