For those who don't venture to the Aussie Muscle forum the guys are making an Aussie Mod for HS.
I have almost finished an XC Falcon/Fairmont coupe (a.k.a. Hardtop) as requested for the Aussie mod. I need a short break from it though. So here's a preview Please tell me what you can see wrong with it as I am a Holden fan and haven't even seen a Ford Hardtop for many months.

A lot of attention went into creating the damage for it which includes:
* the hood crinkling up to reveal the engine,
* 3D headlights & side parkers which break away when damaged revealing the appropriate socket or hole(s) in the bodywork as would a real car,
* tail pipes bending down and/or outwards when hit from behind.
* Full use of the four colours of the alpha channels (i.e. Primary, Secondary, Interior & Driver's Hair) They all change with each GT colour scheme. (ten colour schemes)
Oh, incase you are wondering, the rego plates read "GT 351" and under that is "Queensland Ford State". heh well it's true. That might get changed before it's release. They are fairly clear and readable in the game.
I will make an XC Cobra from it when I am completely satisfied with this one. I had an idea to make one of the colour schemes change it into a Cobra (including Cobra decals) which I could easily do using the alpha colours that would only show up when that colour scheme was selected (and I almost did) but the spoilers were different on the Cobras to the GT Falcons/Fairmonts.
It's fun to drive but you can't help to play demolition derby with them as they damage pretty well. :D so does my HS version. heh Oops sorry guys, I really did mean that my HS verson damages well and not the real Aussie Fords. ;) *cough cough*
DOH!! Another pimple on my tongue. :p

I always thought that you were only a track maker not a car maker. how long did it take you to build this car because it looks pretty sweet and I just realy wanna know whats the final poly count on it??
Damn man all these people who I figured dont know how to make a car are so know I need to start releasing my cars once I get done. Anyone know where I can get some good blueprints of a honda del sol and have any pictures of a kit on another one too???

The total Poly count is 2202, lock, stock and smokin' barrel! :D
I can run a full grid of eight XC Falcons no probs on this 300Mhz CPU (with an old TNT2 video card).
Thanks humdude, I guess I'll soon shock many as I haven't released any HS cars except the minor tweaks (& war paint) I made to the V8 Supercars.
Sorry i haven't a clue where to find your blue prints. I keep saving those URLs when they're given here but I am going thru so many Hard Drives I lose them (URLs) as fast as I get 'em.
Good luck in your search, matey.

that reminds me. I have to get cracking on those cars for the Midnight Racing MOD because I have realy been lagged these few days and I lost all the stuff that was on my hard drive so I need to get back to work and try top get some cars back. I am just gonna use the blueprints from SM Cars but I am going to try to make the Del Sol from F&F that was going up in down when they were going to the Big Race seen were Dom, Edwin, the chinese and Brian raced. Hopefully I can find a good to for it.

Ford Australia copied many model designs from their U.S. mother company as did GM Holden from GM Chev and then the U.K's Opel motor company followed a year or two behind Holden with many models.
Matthew : You're not gonna let me live this down are ya?
It's all a bad dream mate, just tell yourself it never happened :) heh

Gaw shucks fellas
<in Micheal Jackson's gay voice> I like to thank my mum, without her support ........ heh :D
You are welcome mate. Just glad you thought it good enough for the mod. But like I said, n/p if you didn't use it (i.e. no hard feelings etc.).
I'll get back to editing probably tonight or tomorrow as I have vertually rebuilt the engine of a real (full size) car over the past few days and I should have it purring in a couple of hours.
When are you going to get your CD back or another copy of HS? As I said before it is only $20 (Aus.) at Target. I bought a spare just because it was so cheap and my oringinal was starting to wear (sharing it with the step-son).

Well it's like anything in life I guess. If you know how to do it you say "yeah it's as easy as falling off a bike" but for someone who has never done it before or in some way participated in an engine rebuild I would say "NO". it isn't something anyone can do faultlessly without prior experience.
I guess workshop manuals could get you through well enough if you have the right book for that model car.
From what you wrote it sounds like you just want to drop another engine inplace of your mum's existing one. That is pretty basic and you shouldn't have too much trouble doing it but it pays to have a mate with you who knows a little bit from experience and ofcourse ask if around the engine you you are putting in will be easily adapted to the old gearbox, engine mounts, manifolds will suit, sump won't hit steering/suspension etc.
You said which engines you would like to place in the car but didn't mention what it would be replacing. If you change from say 6 cylinders to a V8 you will need to change most of the car to suit. A BIG job. Not just the running gear (motor, trans tailshaft & diff) but also the steering and suspension also needs to be to V8 standards... well here in Australia it does anyway.
Good luck mate

i want to build a whole engine with billit 383 crank, .040 over size bore and .040 oversize forged flat tops, yella terra heads and roler rockers etc etc. sorry i cant tell you exact "specs" because 1)i do not have a compleate understanding of things like calculating pin hight and anything about how to choose a cam, and 2) i cant afford it so why bother
Mums car is a VK SL with a EFi 202, best part is about it is it has no cancer, it's hard to find in a VK without any. i know a V8 conversion is hard and you need to change the crossmember, gearbox, diff, breaks, master cylinder, wiring loom, recalibrate the tacho and probly some more stuff
i would like to try mechanical injection too

Whoa up buddy. We all want to build something similar to your description but like you mentioned, dollars do play a big part in any engine rebuild and I wouldn't go making some 8 second 1/4 miler straight off as my first ever rebuild attempt if I were you. Expect to stumble and fall a little until you get the hang of it. By that I mean practise on standard, cheaper parts until you confidently know enough to take the big plunge.
These sort of posts do belong in the "Car Talk" forum but I don't know if I can move individual posts with disrupting the whole thread.
BTW, that engine rebuild was a success. The owner is exstatic with it's performance now. :D
