Next week, the Trophycup Club will hold its Vintage and GTQ races at Blackhawk Farms. Both events will run 15 and 30 lap races.

The track may be downloaded at Speedsims under SCGT addon tracks:

Blackhawk Farms is another well done track from Matt Lucas. It features sweeping turns and lap times well under 1:05 in Vintage. A fuel load of under 20 gallons will be sufficient. Perhaps 18 gallons? I shortened my final drive to max (highest number) and increased D/F to max. No other setup changes were made. I haven't done any testing in GTQ.

Here's another track to punish excessively late braking. Getting the ideal line is much more important. As is momentum and exit speed from the corners. Accelerating through the corners seems to work best. I found that judicious use of the curbs will help rotate the Ferrari GTO through the corners. Judicious. Just barely hang the inside wheel over the curb. Anything more and the grass will slow you down.

Turn 3 is a decreasing radius corner that gives me trouble (as usual). Following that is turn 3D, which looks tight, but can be taken in 3rd gear in the GTO. Particularly if you just clip the curbing.

See you there!

Again, apologies for my late posting. Getting old and tired. <g> If I don't get it done right away, it takes me a few days to get the energy up.

We had 4 racers tonight. Doug again dominated the races - as usual. Maybe we should call him Usual, except that name is already taken. (Sorry Ed. LoL)

Without adieu, the results:

Heat 1, 15 laps.

1. Roush1d/RaceCar1 #65 HTCC Shelby Daytona Coupe 15 Laps 17:08.25
2. McGregor #00 HTCC Ferrari 250 GTO 15 Laps 17:23.93
3. Spang #24 HTCC Ferrari 250 GTO 15 Laps 17:37.27
4. Burmcat #56 HTCC Shelby Daytona Coupe 15 Laps 18:04.87

Heat 2, 30 laps.

1. Roush1d/RaceCar1 #65 HTCC Shelby Daytona Coupe 30 Laps 32:34.68
2. McGregor #00 HTCC Ferrari 250 GTO 30 Laps 32:40.89
3. Spang #24 HTCC Ferrari 250 GTO 29 Laps 33:38.06
4. Burmcat #56 HTCC Shelby Daytona Coupe 16 Laps 33:44.84

BC sat out much of the race to piggyback with the front runners.

Fast laps.

1. Roush1d/RaceCar1 0:59.94
2. McGregor 1:00.00
3. Spang 1:02.50
4. Burmcat 1:03.xx

After the race, McG snivelled that he had a 0:59.8 lap working, but boofed it. Well, I'll believe the boofed it part anyway. <g>

Correction.

I neglected to note that Dan (Spang123) tested a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport in the 30 lap heat. Not the Ferrari GTO as I posted. Apologies, Dan.

Dan found the car to be a bit too slow for Vintage racing.

Good try and thanks for testing it.

If anyone wishes to test another car in either Vintage or GTQ races, just let us know ahead of time. We can make the car available in our file section. Also let us know if you'll need a handicap for the car. Plus or minus, depending upon whether the car is fast or slow.

Tonight we had a "full house" (sorry speedo_neeto/TC/KM <g>). 5 racers in one pit. The lag wasn't too bad either. Thanks again to Burmcat (BC) for a superb connection.

McG tested a new car. A 1963 356B Carrera 2 Coupe. (Mc356, I think he's been called. <g>) While the car had poorer straight line performance than the standard GTQ cars, its cornering ability was far too much for the other cars running with AOE on. The car is not suitable for GTQ racing. The fact that McG was able to post a lap time fully one second faster than Doug should be an indication of its unsuitability.

McG stopped in the pits for at least a one minute handicap to be sure that he did not have an unfair advantage for the results. The results reflect that handicap.

The car did have one benfit though. It spurred roush1d/RaceCar1 to an astonishing fast lap in his efforts to catch the speeding 356. Kudos Doug! I had originally intended to give McG credit for the fast lap of the night, but that would disparage Doug's efforts. So McG gets only an honorable mention. McG wants to know if he can import this car into Porsche Unleashed. He wants to give those nasty 993s a Mc356 lesson. <g>

Doug accidentally selected the BMW for the first race. Its gearing was way off, but he won anyway. He switched back to his usual Porsche for the second race and posted his best time of the night.
