As heard Team UK has been disbanded (shut down). I have promised myself to keep the team going. I have sent some of my team members messages and should be hearing from them soon. As for now I'm gonna do everything in power to keep the team going and make it stronger then it ever was before. I will be asking lots of questions in the near future and I appreciate everyones help on this subject. This will work with everyones cooperation.

Also I thank (XR)CHEY for inspiring me to do this. Thanx Chey!!

I would like to see many replies of what evryone thinks of this.

(UK) is cool. just keep it humming ;)

Hi, Travis!

I think it's a great idea.

I have never run a team myself and have only been a member of one, but I can sort of see some things it takes to be involved in the administration. Your commitment needs to be strong. You're going to run into poblems, members will not get along, people will leave, others will arrive. You've got to be fairly even and level about things and not let them upset you. You've got to be very objective and not lose sight of what the Team needs and tough choices will sometimes fall to you to make. It can get disheartening at times, especially mediating some sort of dispute. Also, these various other people, the membership and officers, really rely on you. If you get burned out, dejected and quit, the whole thing can fall apart making everyone feel negatively about their experiences with the team. Not good stuff. So your commitment has to be quite strong. You need to be in it for the long haul.

I would also suggest the same thing with members. That if you do recruit others, that regardless of whatever else you are looking for, that you seek players with commitment. This is a pretty interesting community, and rather special, I believe, in the online world. Still, we get many new players coming in with some frequency. Many come to respect the various teams and would like to join up. Still I think that player commitment is the single key ingredient to making it all work. If you recruit a new player who is fast and promising, but they only last a few weeks or a month and then leave, that can sort of harm the team spirit. I think you'll see here, that the Wrecking Crew, they don't really race with any frequency and some not at all (saw WC_Outlaw yesterday on the servers! -^ ) but here they are still active, interesting and joyous members of the community. That's the kind of commitment that you need. If you find such people and get them on your team, most of your struggles are over. That sort of thing can make your job much easier and your team sort of self sustaining.

One more factor I think is important is to understand what you want out of the team and what you want it to provide to others in it and outside of it. How do you wish the team to be tought of in the community? Sort of coming up with a "mission statement" will help you target the kind of players you wish to have as members and the kinds of things you wish to do as a team.

I'm very proud of you for doing this. Just know it can be a lot of work and some heartache, but if you're committed and you have players who are likewise, you can make UK into a mighty and well respected team.

Good luck!

I really cannot put into words my feelings on this subject... Me deciding to leave the team was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made in my life. Krew, I really wish you the best of luck with running the team... and again I will appologise for the abuse I gave you in the PU Lobby when you told the world you were taking over the team. It is going to be one of the hardest jobs you will ever undertake... getting the team to communicate outside of the PU lobby is near on impossible... I know this for a fact as does DaftVada, BB, Wilba :). I am not trying to put you off in any way here, I am trying to show you the trouble you may run into. As Chey says, you will need to be 100% commited to the task as the team has taken a huge knock (Which I feel responsible for) and it will take a hell of a lot to recover from it.

Right, I think I have said enough on the subject and now I think I better talk nicely to somebody to change my name for me.

best of luck to one of the best teams on the planet. All the best (UK)

Hi KREW...

One peice of advise, dont get carried away signing up to many Members. e.g We had 23 UK members but only 5 or 6 only every posted on there own forum,,Plus only visited the site once or twice..

when Vada & Me started the the Team it was good at the start ,had about 7 members which was good. Then other members took it into there own hands to recruit other racers ,Which got out of control..Think thats why it fell apart ,,Just hope it dont happen to you...

Anyway best of Luck as you will need it..

hi KREW

Ive run this Team for 9 months now and Im not gonna beat about the bush its been bloody hard work=[ , If it wasnt for the likes of Satan Wilba and BB the team would have gone along time ago.
Satan and Wilba did a terrifec job on the forum and web site and how many of us used it i would say i could count on one hand.
The second meeting that i Hosted, 2 people bothered turning up not bad considering i had 14 comfirmed members from the first meeting, where were you all. I sent emails out got 6 replies for the persona details and what you were intested in helping with. so you see m8 less then half could be bothered on a regular basis to do anything. (XR)BUG an outsider to the team gave advice and direction thanx m8 and i tried to model the team like theirs not much fun when theres less then half that could be bothered. I gave up racing recently for over a month if it wasnt for Wilba and Satan pestering me to come back I wouldnt have bothered. You guys are the greatest when on line, off line i never heard a peep from you. Unless you have the determination and bottle to tell ppl this is how its gonna be then take my advice m8 dont bother.
All the will in the world can not force ppl to break habits this is a great game and the objective is to race, if you want racers to commit to other things aswell as racing then you are going to have to motivate one hell of a lot.
I Wish you all the very best and if i can help in anyway dont hesitate to ask, Im racing as an individual racer now and feel as if a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders, use the game for what its for and enjoy it
Your m8 and friend always

To all the strains of Uk team remaining. I just have one thing to say. If every time we had a problem in the XR team we collapsed, we would have been gone before march. We have a monthly argument or team problem. At one time I was the only one handling the team and not only did it effect me but it also effected the direction of the team. Now we have 2 captains, [XR]Pale, and myself. We have a team administrator in Chey and we have people doing work for the team in stats, recording hacker names, etc.. it has to be a team effort or it is not a team at all. Just placing the tag in front of the name does not make you a team player. I have confronted many members of our team about that.

here is a basic idea of what you need to do to get the team going again. set up some rules and make sure everyone know that they are indeed the rules and if broken they are gone.

Get rid of the ego players and anyone who is bitching about losing a point to so and so. trust me this will tear the team apart.

next set up your team with the dr stats and get involved in the team point play.

Start off with a solid core of about 10 players and make sure they are players who are going to play. try and involve everyone in some aspect of the team.

Get a forum going and make it mandatory that they members join the forum. Post only the info about the team in the forum. if anyone asks you about such and such tell them to check out the forum. That way you know if they are going there.

NEVER back down from a player because they have a higher point total or because they think they are the best player etc. IF they dont stand up for the team ethics and rules then they are no team player and should be released from the team.

I am here anytime you need help. I pledged to Vada to help out with the UK team and my pledge still stands. you can pm me here or email me private at sean.griggs@verizon.net

Good on ya mate (as Rob would say but since he's left us for the time being, I'll remind us all of him by saying something he would say!), for wanting to keep the ship afloat! Keep your sense of humor, and remember that it is a game. Have fun with it, that's what games are for. What everyone's said about finding teammates who are willing to commit is very true. You will find some people will do their utmost to help the team and others who just like the group and racing. Split responsibilities up! we have a captain and a co-captain for our team, and we have a membership cap so we don't get too big! A big part of communication between our members is that we don't have so many members that it becomes ludicrous! You'll find who specializes at what and that's what that team member will do! For some, it's PR, others, website design, others who rack up the BIG points... hee hee and team cheerleaders of course.
But through trial and error we've found that you don't just let anybody join. Alert your clan to pay attention to who just feels right for your club and then get to know them a bit. Watch how they act and react around others, watch their racing progress, and if you and your mates agree, let them in. Our unwritten rule of entry is that everyone agree on who gets let in. If we don't all agree, 100%, they don't get a DC tag!
Good luck and if you ever need somebody to talk to about running your show, drop me a line and I'll share what infinite wisdom I've gathered in my time as Captainette of the Demolition Crew!
