I have made my decision to finally pull the NFS pin and call it a day.
I will complete promised projects and e-mail them to the folks I have promised them to, then I'll just move onto doing something else.
Thank you for the years of fun times, sad times, serious debates and bloody hilarious jokes or wit of some folks. This community has opened my eyes to many things, helping me to view issues in a different light and I have learnt a lot from many of you good folk.
Sorry to those I may have given a hard time to. Even more sorrier (?) to those whom I have grown to love and respect.
I realize I can't please all of the people all of the time. Some will celebrate my leaving while others will be saddened and a few skepticals will think it's just a plot of some sort.
It's definitely not an easy decision for me to make. I have spent many extremely long houred days over several years in the NFS community that it has been a big part of my life for quite some time.
I have meet many great folks online due to NFS, many have already parted from the scene and many more are still here amongst you all. But the carnival must stop some time.
Thank you to all who have helped make this NFS community and special thanks to all who have helped create the family that is Total NFS
I'd better hurry to post this and log-off before my keyboard shorts out.
Goodbye everyone, gonna miss you all. :hat:-^

Oh, AccadaccA. This is terribly sad news for me. I hope wherever you go from here, that those people and places you go to appreciate you as much as we all have here. I will miss you so much. This is... it's just regrettable, I guess. You're so much, so very much a part of the spirit of "this" place, this community. I'll miss you, everyone else here will miss you and the many who come from today on will never know or understand but they will miss you too.
I wish it weren't so, and I really want to beg you to stay. But you would not have made this decision without long and reasoned thought, so, no matter how much I want to do otherwise, I will respect that.

Acca,
i cant believe it.....what on earth caused that decision  ?
I would understand if you say i dont have much time in the future to be present here, but i really cant understand ' I pull the NFS pin'
Youre a part of us here, the grandfather, you cant leave that way...please.
Hoping youll stay,

Oh my god.. That is a a terrible shock.. Where will this site be without Acca around.. It just won't be the same.. Acca has been around the NFS community for longer even than me..
I can only enquire as to what on earth caused this decision.. But, I guess, their really isn't much of a point in staying around, anyhow.. New NFS games are not editable, and, the community is slowing down, big time.. I mean, this board is faster paced now, and more active than NFSc.. And that's saying something..
But, I should also mention, that like Acca, I'm leaving the NFS community as well, as soon as the GT nfsmod project is finished.. My mind is made up on that, completely. That is the reason I'm not establishing my website again.
But, anyhow, we'll miss you, a lot.

DC_Geezr: It is so. This is not a joke.. And it's even more saddening to discover the reasons behind this..
Now I'm leaving when the GT-nfsmod is done, because their is no future for the NFS editing.. It's dead.. EA won't support NFS communities, or editing, so, I'm not sticking around to wait for the inevitable..

There are rough seas out there, sometimes. When one can find a place of good friends, calm waters and favorable winds, we don't always ask how long it will last...
I came upon a small archipelago, pleasant islands where other mariners had found haven in lagoons and harbors. They too had come in from rough seas, and perhaps had leaks to stop, sails to mend, in some cases hulls needed more extensive repair. I wasn't the first to arrive, no, by far, I'm something of a latecomer. Still I recognized something very special here. Some had built homes on the reefs or beaches. Some small villages had even sprung up. We discussed the things that we had seen and done, things that interested us, bothered us, things not necessarily dealing with the seas or sailing. We found happiness and sometimes contention, but always the winds were light yet strong, and sailing here was easy and life was good. It's a good place, a refuge from the rougher, deeper waters. Still, no one knew how long it would last or the duration of their stay. The seasons, however, change. Fresh water still runs sweet from the island springs, but it runs slower now and less urgently. Clouds appear in the sky, the winds blow stronger and far off, at times, the sound of thunder is heard.
For the most part the inhabitants here have always been migratory, have followed their own winds. It may not be time yet, but some have tested their sails, gathered stores, and stowed them and are charting course for destinations yet to be determined. I don't know yet if my time has come, but I too can feel the wind. It stirs and tugs at your soul, asking if it's time to go. Perhaps another season, perhaps longer. Maybe the time of storms will be mild and this place will remain peaceful and support good living for quite a time to come. One can always hope that new seasons brings renewed life and hope for this place, perhaps new wanderers carried by the winds. Still we are all mariners and know that the time eventually comes to move on and seek new places, new experiences and new people. To those who leave early we must say our goodbyes and wish them to seek new things of beauty and effort, to accomplish tasks they have not yet undertaken. That's how our lives are lived. We will most probably be sad at such leave-takings, but happy to, for we are richer for having known the people here and they go, not to leave us, but meet novel experiences. Hold them tightly before they leave, let them know they are loved and wish them a true, heartfelt bon voyage and cheer them on their way!
May the wind always fill your sails and the sea always provide abundantly, and may your course take you to interesting places and to interesting people!

I wish you the best of luck AccadaccA. I never thought you'd leave. Just goes to show how much this community is deteriorating.
Chris you are leaving too? Maybe we should all just shutdown and call it quits. Maybe EA will get the message (doubtful).
I'm out of here for the most part already. I only hang around right now as I am bored, but I have halted all work on NFSC and won't continue it. I don't see a point really. College starts in the fall so I'm taking a breather. The only thing I now really do in my spare time is work on misc irc scripts and add code to my ubb6 to phpbb2 convertor.
If only there was some way to get EA to listen to us. Any ideas?
I should have stayed in TheSims community while I had it good. I miss my old Sim site. If only I had known how much EA would **** over such a great game series.

You will be missed Acca, I know you're long overdue for a nice relaxing vacation away from things. If nothing else stop by the message boards for a bit every so often.
We won't be going anywhere if I have any say in the matter, I do this because of the community not because of a computer game. I'm sure we'll have other games come and go as well as NFS.

It'll be sad to see Rob and Chris leave, though I might point out to both of them that just because they are no longer involved with NFS editing doesn't mean they have to leave.
I've completely quit NFSHS editing, the only thing I do with NFS anymore is play NFSPU online, and that'll probably slow down quite a bit when Racer becomes multiplayer. But even though i've quit making cars for HS, I still post my Racer cars and tracks in the editor's forum, and I still post here in the general discussion.

I'm sorry to hear about your sudden decision Rob, this comes as quite a shock. :(
But I'm happy to have met you and for having worked with you on the Bathurst track. Great fun to exchange our ideas and very intense, trying to keep the self imposed deadline of actual race day! And then, the next year, meeting in Bathurst was like going full circle. Which we did heheh, walking the track at night and a few VB's on the way, I think our lap time was well over 2 hours!^_^
Accadacca, you have my best wishes for the future and like everyone else I hope to see you here again soon. And maybe one day Bathurst, who knows?
chris: I dont think NFS editing is 'dead', but I understand why you want to leave NFS. Your and other designer's cars have long outgrown the High Stakes engine. Thank you however for all those great sports cars8)~ , and for still working on the GT mod. And in a way I hope it'll take forever to finish, your extensive knowledge regarding cars and motorsport will be greatly missed.

Chris? I just reread your second post in this thread, something drew me back to it. Upon the reread I saw what:Chris: This is not a joke.. And it's even more saddening to discover the reasons behind this.It sounds like you have some knowledge here that the rest of us don't. If you can/may share it with us, please do. If you cannot, I understand. It's only that I think we seek to understand this situation better ourselves. But, yes, somethings are not for public airing.
I am saddened by Acca's leaving and your imminent departure. I know that you carry with you, when you go, much of our love and respect. A lot of what many of us feel for this place is both your and Acca's doing.

Acca! This is not good...You are well appreciated by everyone on these boards... Is it those bastards at Telstra? You and your mate can share a connection, it might only cost $300 / month then  ... Or was it that Ehra Lession video, I know it was bad quality, but not 'that' bad! ^_^
Oh, and you're right...Guess who got a letter this morning. Optus would like to inform me, that as of 1st August, I too lose my $5 / month discount, and my plan will be limited to 3GB / month, if I exceed this, my cable reverts to a 14.4kbps modem &( ... Noo, my bubble is officially burst... I need you to break such dreadful news, to prepare me for such scarey mail...
06-14-2002, 10:28 PM
Chey: Yes, I do know why it happened.. But, I'm not sure if it is my place to say anything though. It's all about a misunderstanding, so it seems..
[XR]Evo: Optus has done similar to me.. Limited to a certain amount in excess of 3gb per 14 days (11,200mb total), and, if I go over it, my connection goes back to 56k speed... Ridiculous, and so soon after I signed with them.. Doesn't matter though..

06-15-2002, 01:57 AM
everyone : Thank you all for your kind words.
Talk about a big softie, I blubbered =(( like a baby.
I should point out that there was a misunderstanding on my part but I am still leaving.
I do not dislike anyone, you are all great people who make the world revolve for me. Wether I am laughing or punching my keyboard at someone's comments I respect them for having their view just as strong as I have mine.
Folks may not realize but Mysh, Spiderman, etc. and myself do PM each other every so often just to make sure things are still cool and that we haven't gone over the line and personally offended each other. In reality we are good friends and our debates are what has made us get to know each other better.
I do admit to being headstrong or bloody stubborn most of the time (more so lately with issues) and I also do misunderstand many things that happen around the world these days. But when I voice my opinion it is what I believe at the time and not just meant to hurt others. Even though I know I may have on several occassions. I am honestly sorry for those times.
My leaving is not becaue I don't play NFS games now, I never really did. I just test drove edited cars and tracks and hardly ever completed a single lap at any one sitting unless I was beta testing for a fellow editor. So it is in reality more of a case of diing to start playing games for their enjoyment and not just as an editor doing routine testing for bugs etc. than being a case of out-growing the games.
I have not yet finished editing either. This is a big part of my decision as I am a forum junkie which leaves little time to complete my promised editing projects.
I have a bad habit of taking on more projects before finishing others and I don't want to be remembered as the guy that never finished what he started. This goes for both NFS edits and webpages/sites I start, get mostly through then move onto something else before completion.
I can't decipline myself enough to not visit back here long enough to do any serious editing hours like I used to.
Tracks take months of dedication for me to edit. In my hay day of editing I wouldn't sleep for three nights in a row then have 3-4 hours shut-eye before doing another three sleepless nights editing. This went on for months at a time. Well it's sort of caught up with the ol' fart now.
I also have abandoned my responcibilities as a father and sole parent at that. My son "Jono" has ASD and need extra attention than a "normal" child but while I'm at the puter he is being babysat by the t.v.
In addition to this the rest of my life is in neglect. My house, my car(s), my lady friend, personal friends and family.
For so long I made the NFS community my home and family and you all will always have that part in my fond memories.
I don't mean to take other members with me in my decision to lay-low for a while. Please don't follow suit, I'm sure nobody (well maybe except for Matt B :D ) could say that they spend as much time here as I do or have done.
I will return one day. The sooner I do break free the sooner I can complete my promises and then perhaps return (on a smaller scale) but I am not getting anything constructive done like this. Just like how bogs had to leave to put his priorities in place.
I am sorry to those who didn't know to expect this but I did give notice to the staff and several members some time ago.
I just hope that I can recognize folks here when I return. Unlike nfscheats where it wasn't long before I was like a total newbie there and spoken to without respect.
Oh and thanks for noticing my post count Spidey. Sheesh how could I possibly leave with my last post being numbered 1499. :hat:-^
Atleast my birthday wishes to Syko evened it to 1500 Acca posts.
Matt (B) take over in the post count, son and I'll be there for the Total NFS BBQ. Thanks
Yes, as Nite put it so well. It has always been a pleasure working with community members on projects. To meet you guys in person is simply icing on the cake. I hope we continue to meet each other in person. The same goes for those promised meetings of many overseas members. Hold me to my word of always having the door open if any of you ever visit my neck of the woods. I must say this was a bit unexpected for me. You've been an integral part of this community and it most certainly will have a huge, gaping hole in it with your departure. I'm going to seriously miss your humorous posts--always a great uplift to read.
I can emapthize with your thoughts on feeling like a Newbie at NFSCheats after having an absence for a couple months. I had one of those absences myself and when I came back I hardly knew anyone there! I also needed a flame-retardant suit... heh
You can at least say with pride that you helped in a large way to build up the best NFS community on the 'net. NFSC doesn't compare. Actually, our site seems like its falling apart. No one does work on it anymore and the people who are left and still 'active' don't even want to do anything about it.
Anyway, I can certainly understand and respect your reasons for leaving. It takes a big man to be able to examine his whole life and see what's wrong and what he needs to do--and also do those things. You've got your priorities straight :)
But you are still obligated to visit us once in a while, drop a few words on how life's going and such ;) :D
Good luck, Rob.

After about 2 or so years of having to do most of the work yourself, it sorta loses its mystique after a while. I don't care anymore.
Took me 4 days to get a 'staff' member to add some file to our database.

I think you guys at NFSC are at a point where you can slack off and let NFSC run itself for a while with minimal interaction from anyone. Then when NFS6 comes out I'm sure there'll be a few people into it enough to get moving again on things. :)

Again, sorry for the lateness of this reply,
Take care Rob - and thank you for everything.
Your good pal Phil (and his Canadian gal ;)) - you are ALWAYS welcome here, I mean that to the bottom of my heart, if you ever get chance to come over and jam with Teej - I'll do everything in my power to get over there and meet up... You know I mean that too...
Regards to Jen, Jono and the kids, not forgetting your non-human family members...

I hope you go to bigger and better things and I wish you the best bud. I hope to meet you down the road some day. Your a really great guy.

I know this is a sad time for him and all... but he said his other stuff is getting neglected.... thats how I feel sometimes when I'm always online.. i have seemed to lost my other friends and replaced them with you lot.. and PU buddy racers... thats great.. but in reality, I dont think that is the better.. I need to interact more with other people...
Being off the PC for a while may be a huge challenge to some of us... haha.. very hard for me... but then today I asked out a new girl.. the girl who's school Prom i'm going to... ii'm VERY excited.. she has to be one of the most lovable people ever.. very cheery... very fun.. and much better than any girls I've had before...
so in two weeks is the prom.. and we're going in her dads 1970 Australian Ford Fairmont 6.5 odd litre supercharged V8.. WOW WHAT A BEAUTY.... 500bhp.... massive Hoosier fats on the back.. i mean like 1/4 mile tyres.. which are HUGE!!!!!!!!! maybe 40 or 45 centimetres wide... with a BUG catcher on it... (NOW THATS A NEW WAY TO CATCH [XR]BUG.. ;))... and two big full on exhausts, running out to 2 4" exhaust tips pointing down a bit...
and a quickshifter of course.... perhaps I could borrow the keys one day...
so just after moving onto anotehr stage with this girl, Naydene... from a good friendship to something else.. this has made me much happier.. and less interest in the internet and other things.....
I should get photos of it all.. just keep an eye out 2-3 weeks away.....
Still thinking about acca leaving... guess its how he feelz....
anyway, best luck again for mending your real life, and leaving this little virtual interactive place.... unless u go join a new gaming club....
:Peace:

I think we have always known that EA had no interest in editable games, so it shouldn't be any shock that NFS6 won't be either. Any given game simply can't be all things to all people, but the good ones have something that keeps you coming back to them: GPL has the history, physics, and online playability; NFS games always had a more fun crash and dash philosophy, and that's what kept me buying every new release and playing NFS5 every day for the better part of a year.
We also have always known that EA doesn't listen to us. No surprise here either, all we can do is hope they go further down the realism route of nfs5 and nfs1 and put in fun game modes. I don't see this as a reason for despair.
As for nfsc and tnfs's lack of traffic, well doh! there are always doldrums between each NFS release. It won't be long now for the next!!

AARRRGGGHHH.... This bites... Acca, you gotta check back occassionally and make us laugh and think for a bit.
Unfortunately, I'm still in the middle of moving, so I don't have internet connection yet. May not have for a bit.
I have occassional access from my ex's computer (like now for example) but only for a few minutes here and there once a week or so.
I manage to get on and what do I see??? Acca/Chris leaving.
Man, I swear, I can't leave you people alone for a minute can I?
Good luck Acca in whatever it is you're off to do. I've thoroughly enjoyed your posts.
I'm sure you'll be unable to not at least poke your nose in once in a while though.

This is a very sad moment... :(
I have knew a quite some time that NFS Scene is dying and ppl are leaving but Acca's announcement hit like lightning from a clear sky; it was totally unexpected.
it is sad to hear legends like CPD and AccA leave the scene, but sadly that's the way it has to be: everyone makes their decisions by themselves and it has be that way. no one can nor should try to make decisions for someone else-
AccA: you will be gone but not to be forgotten.
NFS Scene is longest game editing groups in the net. It has been existed since first editors for The Need For Speed came out. It survived NFS2 much more difficult car and track formats (NFS 2 editted tracks never worked right.) and found it's glory when NFS3 came out. (Only game in the series, tha EA has officially supplied few editors.) NFS 4 continued this success, but after that, when NFS 5 was released, things started to head on trouble. Now we are here and watching while this 'scene' is dying after 7 successful years.
Remko: if you read this, remember that we have ICQ meeting tonight if you can just make it. (this is highly important and I want to discuss about it with you.) if you can't make it, please let me know via email or PM.
