Ok, first of all, an apology to anyone whose game/race I screwed up last night, I was having big problems with my 'ping'
My sister did some things [XR]Chey posted to speed up internet connection (I'm not very good with computers), so I don't know what she did, but my ping was jumping from 250 - 4000 back to 250 about every 3 seconds, and if I typed into the chat bar, nothing would appear in the part where others can read it.
Anyway, just wondering what is the most likely: A random bad connection or server on my end, as a fluke last night. Or, more likely something that was adjusted yesterday, or, maybe other players were having problems, too. (Not just the ones whose room I was in!)
I wanted to ask that before I get my sister to drive all the way back out here to undo whatever she did yesterday....
Anyone else having probs last nite? =[ :? :'( :(

Yeah, I seemed to have similar problems last night, but my ping was fairly stable.
It seemed every 'pit' I went into would 'die' as soon as the 'RACE' button was hit.
Talk about frustrating! I only had about 1/2 an hour to do any kind of racing in and only managed to get 2 (I think) done.
Also, it turns out that I may as well have stayed with my dial-up connection as far racing on-line is concerned. My PC has to go through so many servers ect to get where it needs to be that it hasn't made much difference in my ping time. lol

It seemed to work pretty good for about an hour, til about 9:45 PST then the whole server did a phart; I got punted out to the main game menu and the others in my pit got ejected. Otherwise my frame rates and connection seemed ok.

Mine kept coming up "input exchange not found" whenever I entered a pit, then I finally got into one with people in it, but I had no car!!! Couln't get it to show a car. I re-booted, got back online, same probs. Finally get into a pit, and when they hit race it would just load for up to 5 mins ( I kept escaping when it did that, hence the apology above to anyone I messed up).
It also seemed to keep reseting, everyone in the main room where you select the pit you want to race in would disappear, and flicker, then come back. I gave up, but I hope it works tonight.

Hi docbong, everyone!
Oh, I feel terrible if it's from any of the links I posted, I am very sorry in any case. Remember, friends, whenever doing or having anything done with the registry, "Export" the registry keys before they are changed, keep a record of what changes were made, even backup/export the entire registry. Always backup data before doing any critical operation.
About adjusting MTUs in the registry for dialup or broadband, often the best/optimal MTU is individual for your specific conditions, modem, line/network quality. If it's set too high, you can back off until you get it right. Windows default settings ARE far too conservative and with a bit of tweaking you can usually find some significant improvements, but it may take some fiddling around with the setting to find what's best.

The pings in some of the pits I was in last night were going mad too... mine was jumping from about 240 - 800, others were going from about 400 - 7000. &(
I found leaving the pit to the lobby and re-entering the pit again seemed to reset my ping to normal (about 230-270), but after one race it was back up at about 550.
The same was happening to everyone else in the pit though, by the look of things.
