I hav downloaded several video clips (leaving them in original MPEG format) but nothing happens when I double click on them.
I have "Windows Media Player", "Quick Time" and "Real Player G2" but neither will respond.
All are associated to their respective file format types in "Folder Options/File Types" of Win98.
Either should open these videos posted @ http://www.3rotor.com/speed_kings.html mentioned in another thread here. Just wondering if the videos were corrupted during downloading.

I do have DivX on a backup CD but shouldn't need to add more media players as these are supposed to do the job and have done so in the past. Although I haven't used them since the last format and re-installation.
Real Player G2 says I should upgrade (free) but when I consent to that it still does nothing.
My Zone Alarm is set to allow it to connect for upgrading, so I don't know what the hold-up is.

Any ideas as to what might be preventing them from working?
Thank you for any suggestions in getting my current media players working without the need of installing even more.

Install the DivX codec.. They may work, then..

Well my resources were down to 33% so I rebooted and tried again. Still no go.
So I upgraded Real Player and now I can view the four other MPEGs I downloaded from that site but neither of the two copies I downloaded of the McLaren F1.
I just get this error
MPEG by Bitcasting: File Format cannot find MPEG file header. This may not be an MPEG file.

Chris : if you still have that video could you please either send it or point me to where I can download it.

I didn't want to download and install DivX because of the bug the latest version (ver5) has which will completely fill any partition or HDD.

Besides, the media players already installed should have played MPEGs so I wanted to sort out the problems there.
Kind of like having an engine that only needs a tune-up, you don't just go and replace it now do you. I do normally use DivX but I would like to sort out any software probs first.

Thank you

Acca: go to www.mclarencars.com and download it in the Media Gallery -> Videos section.

When it starts playing, right click on it and choose Save movie as source.

Or, use this link:
http://www.mclarencars.com/content/video/twof.mov

It requires Quicktime to play. This is the original version of the movie.

Also, here is another Mclaren F1 video (not at Ehra Lessien) but very nice though:

Thanks Chris -^

I did get it from the second link you posted and saw it (very small viewing area) in QuickTime.

The first link and directions to http://www.mclarencars.com/content/sections/mainfr/gall.htm (then click video) didn't work at all. Neither the 1.88Mb nor the 3.7Mb show even though supposedly in the QuickTime format. I have tried with and without Ad Stopper running.

Wait a sec, it works now. I went to the QuickTime site to test QT and something updated quickly.

Thanks again mate.
