I was playing online last night and I think I did some personal bests on a couple of Monte Carlo circuits. My question is, if I beat my record (that I have set while playing at home) while playing online, does it register on my system as a lap record or Top 10?
Does that make sense?
Nope online records dont over write your offline records, there are some I'd not beable too get offline which i can easily Online.
This simply down too railing and wall banging online, where the offline physics would throw your car end over end if you tried too rail or wall bang As hard as you can get away with online

Yes, the collision difference....
But it is still possible to do as fast times, if you know the different style of racing..
such as MC4.. offline, my old time is 1:12.62... but recently online I did 1:11.18... with harder wall bangs, and different angles.. you can take the rails at greater speeds, without having to worry about your car flipping the instant you hit the rail.

Is there any way for me to see my lap times after we finish the Monte Carlo circuits when racing online? Should I refer to the replay to find out my times? Is a replay automatically generated for each completed race - the file titled replay.rpl by default in my *savedata* folder. I presume this file is automatically overwritten after the next race?

to see your lap times...
go to Options in game menu... and then Display i think.. and then make lap records display as "last lap" and not lap record

thanks Wazza. I am guessing that that will only show the previous lap - not all 4/6/8 at the end of the race?
I will just have to keep an eye out - one for the clock; one for the road!

I usually have mine set to 'best' lap, that way I know what I want/have to beat. hehe
The physics are definately different between online and offline play.
DaveR, if you want to practice offline with online physics, go to LAN races instead of internet, and create a pit of one and away you go. You do not have be hooked to the internet for this, so no phone time if you are using a modem.
