Frustration continues :(

I am still not getting anywhere the times I did before. I even went back to my old setups, but I can't drive with them now, so I'm stuck with the new setups and slow times.

I did about 30 laps at the Glen in the Ferrari a couple of days ago and only managed 2 laps under 1.07 and most were high 1.07s to low 1.08s.

In a race on VROC at Monza using the Ferrari I could only manage 1:31s and 1:32s. In another race at Lulsgate (in the Ferrari again) I only managed 1:38s.

I am seriously thinking of giving up in disgust now

DAVE!! DON'T GIVE UP!!

I think you may need to wait a while and take a short break from the game. And maybe drive the Default setups see what you can get, with the times, for a while.Just don't give up on it.

I'm sorry to hear that you are that frustrated, Dave. I agree that this game sometimes has driven me crazy for the same reasons. I stopped playing at least 3 times in the last year (for your reason and others), and coming back with a new perspective I found some new trick to help me out.

Anyway, if it has gotten to the point that you aren't having fun anymore, and you are so frustrated that the frustration itself is causing you to lose time, it is time to take a rest, and consider trying again later. You should go look at my handicap history... I was stuck for a long time at +17 or so (months).... then at +6 for a shorter time, then at -3 for a short time. Now I fee like I am up against another wall, where I am fighting for every .01 seconds.

I've been taking time out recently to play MOHAA online... it's getting kind of boring because there's not much variety, and good players kick my ass regularly (I've never been much of a FPS fan, and my trackball can't compete with the mouse people) but it gives me a break from GPL.

Anything we can do to help, just ask :)

sounds like it's time to take a break and play some other game for a couple weeks. Then come back and have some fun with it again. You gota keep things fun, otherwise it becomes a chore. :)

I am having a mental health break from GPL at present. I raced some V8 Challenge online with AccadaccA and Matt Button last night and I'm playing the FIA GT mod.

When I do some laps of GPL, I am just doing it in a relaxed way - not worrying about my times.

BTW, the ARSE guys really like Lulsgate and race on it a lot. I personally prefer Salzburbring 74, but no-one else seems to :(

Take care guys

Dave, at times like that it's good to watch some replays. Have you used replay analyzer? I really perfected my Silverstone times by grafting my replay ontop of a fast replay. It's an easy way to see exactly where you're loosing time. Grafting a bunch of your own replays ontop of each other can show you how smooth or sloppy you take corners. Just pick 3-4 of your best replays on a certain track, combine them into 1 replay and watch it in GPL. It's pretty cool actually.

As for setups, I'm using mostly Kalisnik or modified Kalisnik's. I've grown accustomed to that type of setup.

Thanks Matt -^

I have been slowly getting back up to speed the past week. I broke 1:30 at Monza in the Ferrari the other day and did a new PB in the Braby there last night.

I even managed 6 consecutive laps of the Glen in the Ferrari between 1.06.4 and 1.06.8 :)

I am using 60/60/1 and 60/85/1 diffs mostly now - usually modified GH2 and JD setups.

I think I am over the hump for now and enjoying racing on VROC :D
