If you've ever checked the plate.fsh in NFSWizard, You must have seen that apart from the file called 'BACK' (which is the regular white plate used in NFS HS) there is also another yellow license shield labeled 'EURO' (at least in my European version - NFS Road Challenge - there is)
I wondered what you'd get if you swapped the two plates around, and the result you can see in the attachment. :D To my surprise the characters automatically turned blue, I have no idea how to get them black, in order to imitate Dutch or British license plates...

Modern Dutch license shield.

Yes, I edited something for NFS myself! :p I think I'll lie down and rest now for a while. Anyway, if you're interested, I can upload the plate.fsh for you to use. ;)

Can anybody explain why I always forget to add attachments? :slap:

Hi Player1, heheh, I remember the yellow plates, tried to make the old WA (Western Australia) plates which were black on yellow. But they turned out blue on yellow as from memory the background did change with what color the lettering was and vice versa, its been a while so I'm not sure.
So instead I made the new WA plates (1997 onwards), blue on white, and they're available on my site.

Tomcat/Ryan Trevisol also made Michigan state plates, yellow on blue.

:look: Whoa Remmy has finally been biten by the editing bug, :hat:-^ koowee :D

Good stuff mate. Please do upload it. I for one will download your masterpiece.

If you are still too weak to reply I'll understand. Just rest up my good friend, you've taken the first step into a new way of life. Took ya bloody long enough with so much beta testing you have done for soooo many editors, I thought you would have been making textures and reshaping meshes long ago.

heh need a beta tester for it?

I don't know if you are actually "forgetting", but when you have an attachment set to your message and you click "Preview Reply" it clears that field. So you then need to rebrowse to your file and set it as an attachment again. If that's the case, it's not really your fault. You have ever reasonable expectation that it should still be selected when you check your post for errors.

Chey : Yeah I have mentioned this in the staff room but Remmy is certain that in his case it is plain ol' fashioned forgetfulness.

I picked up on it a while ago (when the change to this vbulletin board was still relatively new) as so many folks were "forgetting" to include their attachments but when I finally got around to making use of the function myself the penny dropped. I kept forgetting to mention it in the staff forum until a month or two back. I don't know if it is an unrepairable bug or an easy option that can be toggled on/off from backstage but I don't think anyone here investigated it as it was basically shrugged-off as if everyone posting were actually "forgetting" to include the attachment(s).

Oh well, maybe they might listen now that you have also explained that it does get lost when we preview our replies and that we aren't all senile.... yet.

Thanks luv.

Heh, yeah, Nite, I had it happen so often that I accidentally clicked 'Career Mode' while playing NFS HS instead of Single Race, that I stopped correcting my name at one point. And because many of the screens I take can be released in public, I didn't need to see my own name on there all the time.

I wonder how Ryan T created those Michigan plates, if he actually managed to change the colours, or that it just turned out like this by coincidence:

These are meant to look like old Detroit plates, for the Detroit Muscle Mod.

Yeah, Acca, I've recovered now, so I'd better attach the modified plate right here.

Oh and thanks for your insight, Chey, I've heard it before that some people often had problems with adding attachments... I never had that, but what you describe could explain many of those attach errors, thanks for letting us know.
In my case, however, it was just my absence of mind, nothing else. :") ;) You don't want to know how often I have sent emails saying that I had atached something, and finding out 2 minutes later that I had forgotten to actually attach something.

More often than not I will send the e-mail telling all about something I'm supposedly attaching then it'll be followed by a subject title of "DOH!!" with the previously mentioned attachment.
But I needn't tell you Remmy, as you have beta tested many of my "DOH!!" e-mails :D

how did you change the letter colour Nite?

i've also download the first of many edits by the big man himself lol

monaro, I changed the color of the plate lettering by opening NFS-wizard and opening the file NFSHS/Data/GameArt/ plate.fsh. Export the tga images to work on in a paint program.

But its not that simple, colors are reversed or so, I'm not an expert on colors. I.e. if you paint a letter blue it will turn out yellow in the game. Here is a small demo, I painted the letter A red, B is green, C is blue and for good measure D is yellow. See how they reverse their value in game:

http://www.gameprofiles.com/nite/platedemo.jpg

So, for a special color you may have to experiment a little, maybe paint different letters in different colors and see which one turns out best, then colorise all letters accordingly.
Btw letter 'E' is in my original WA-plates color, the tga for that needed to be a sort of faint purple.

I prefer License Plates from my State of Texas (see attachment). How can you get the License Plates on the front of the car without adding a Dummy or is that the only way? Will that even work?:read:

Hey, that's some interseting news, Nite. :) That means that theoretically I could create Belgian plates:
http://plaque.free.fr/eur/jpgs/EUR_B_1973_EB.jpg by choosing a pale, turquoise green as its negative... I'll see if I can create a colourchart of sorts.
But am I correct that you did not succeed in creating black font on yellow then?

Pretty Nice plates, Dangers, are those customizable plates?

Yes they are customizable. I just like to have a real looking LP compared to something like "Wild 1" or "Gotcha." I replaced the Blank white plate with a blank 2000 version Texas plate. You can get almost any type of License Plate from any State, but you have to resize them to fit the Blank one from the game.:HB:
