well, i dunno, must be just me but my xy has
been having fun with me latley,
2 weeks ago she caught fire under the dash
when the interior light blew up and had to rewire the
whole dash.. weeks before that had to redo the
airconitioning system, then had a surging thing had to repair the
carby, now comming home she stops dead on the right hand
lane in the middle of peak hr traffic (she has great timming)
then call the nrma, some one helps me push here out of the way
of traffic to the side of the road and we get towed to a garage
where she's sitting under a light and i pray that she'll still
be there in the morning, man i know i wont sleep tonite..

any one got car stories like that??

i know how to solve all your problems, goto your nearest holden dealer and ask them for a VX Series 2 SS 3-to-6 months later you will have on of the best cars the general has to offer

Heres something to make those ford fans cry...

Quoted from 3rotor.com

One Lucky Falcon Driver

I know it's a six but I thought these pictures of a series 2 au wagon sporting some after market hardware would be worth a look ! Oh and the car was only three weeks old when it hit the gard rail on the up section of the toowoomba range{Qld} early this week.

As you can see the rail came through the front of the car. through the fire wall, through the front passenger seat, through the left hand rear passenger seat and stopped short of coming out the back.

The guy driving walked away totally unharmed ! I think he should have bought himself a lotto ticket for sure!

Thanks for showing us all that andywoo, I'm sure the lottery ticket wouldn't have worked, he used up all his luck already!

Poor guardrail...!

(i'll bet if the ford had been pre 1978 it wouldn't have any more than a scratch. at least it would have a steel firewall that would have protected the passengers - classis not plastic.)

Nah you didn't start anything, I was just expressing why I don't like Fords.

I only like 1 Ford, the AC Cobra. Nice little car, althou I'd change the engine first :D

shaker scoops are about the only good thing about fords but old trans-am's had em so ford sux

taking about fire walls did you know that VN onwards commodores have them glued in instead of welded lucky we have a VK

Dylan

what engine do you have?

knightman
01-17-2002, 04:35 PM
i have an all original 302 windsor v8
not many of those around...?

VQ
01-19-2002, 04:12 PM
Hey Knightman go smart and get a HZ Kingswood and get a injected 5.0 litre from a VN and then you won't have as many problems otherwise put a 4.0 litre injected engine from a EB and transplant it into your XY. thats my opion ne way

monaro
01-19-2002, 08:14 PM
a little bit costly mate

Y2kGoofball
01-19-2002, 08:40 PM
I dunno - yes it's a bit costly but then again how much will the next problem cost?

Especially when the engine needs to be taken out and stripped ...

then again that's just my opinion (which doesnt really matter anyway&( &(

nah he should get an EFi 302 from a newer falcon and stroke it to 351

knightman
01-20-2002, 06:32 PM
ive actually heard of people doing that
i think its called retro teck??
would that stuff up the orinality of thecar ?
we've had it since new and this is the first time
its ever happened..aparrantly the gears on the cranck shaf
and timming needs to be replaced..seems to be jumping them
at starting up??

what would be involved internally to put a newer engine in?

Knightman, if you're thinking you'd like to keep it original, i'd hesitate at even changing to non-genuine fanbelt :p . Getting through rego can be a hassle unless you do it by the book (RTA's book at that!).

The benefits: smoother quieter engine that will run for another 15 years and you will be using unleaded. Retro-Tech is all well and good if you have lotsa dough. If you do - buy the complete engine with the electronics and wire harness, it'll save your brain and wallet in the long run.

knightman,
i am a holden lover through and through i have owned nothing but holdens, i also did own a vc hdt special all original, you know why i say did????
Hitting a truck at 80km/h sure sorted that out!!!
One totalled collectible holden, and the fact that i had to spend upwards of $25000 on it to get it to collectible status.
I know own a walky lookalike which is a vk- with a 5 litre stroked to 355 cubes i am also running a 6/71 blower and a complete Tom Walkinshaw hand made composite bodykit!!
it just goes to show that both aussie icons have bad hair days, even if they are over and over etc etc etc

Dylan

Walky look alike VK?

monaro
01-24-2002, 01:49 PM
acey, i reckon youre bullshitting, junior member???
hitting a truck at 80km/h would have totalled your face as well as the car,
hand made by tom walkinshaw?, i don't think so and ne way it wouldn't be a look alike if it was a different model altogether
if you aren't bullshitting give me the whole facts of the engine, e.g. compression ratios, maximum boost etc.

Gee Monaro, you sure like to be picky at what people say. Who cares if he is b$'ing, How do we know your not a b$'er?

I, myself, have seen a VK look-alike Walky, wasn't the best of jobs but it still looked good. I guess you just haven't seen one yet.

Heres a car story. Driving down the Kwinana Freeway in Perth, heading North, and we see this Magna fly by doing around 150-160. Anyway, we keep driving, and a few seconds later we heard this "Screeeeeeeeeeeeech...! BBAANNGG!" Magna rear-ended a Land Cruiser and totalled both cars. Guy was ok, little shook up, but ok. That was about 2 years ago.
