Why don't these companies just give up. No matter what is developed, it can be cracked, and will be cracked. There will always be someone out there that is determined to do it.

These companies just don't seem to realize the potential value of supporting the internet music biz. They all need to just go into a room, sit down, and figure out a good way to let people search and get music online (for a fee inevitably). It won't happen until everyone works together however.

So was this protection encryption or whatever on all Sony Music CDs? ... i dont know about problems with copying music.... I backed up my copy of System of a Down easily.. no worries.. worked exactly the same... :cool:

People don't work together because one is greedier than the next, and if not they set their sights on becoming greediest. It's sick, really - the musicians do everything, like the soldiers for a country, but get close to nothing (sometimes absolutely nothing) for it in terms of profits (old-time Blues players, etc.) Hell, the musicians, if they can be seen in the "soldier's" context, are more like slaves. No matter what unprecedented level of genius they might reach in their art, they never seem to get anywhere, and of course the real innovators are barely noticed (for more than a moment if that), since the emphasis is on record sales, so unless you own a record company and don't care to compete with the largest record companies, you'll have to pump out the bling bling and britney and n sync and back hurt, with maybe a celine dion or whatever other fodder for added infusion of mass-produced watered down urine from concentrate (the formula for pop music).

For as long as there are rules and regulations, which are essential for survival at this stage of the game, there will be no fairness at all - the ones at the top of the pyramid as it is currently established will fight to the death to stay there, and all any aspiring hopeful can do is try to get there also. That's how things get done - and why everything gets done at a snail's pace...if at all...

Then again, those musicians that do start executive producing their stuff seem to almost always turn into suck - maybe it's having to actually write something in order to be able to continue doing that what they do, which keeps the quality of the music higher (simply not thinking about the money long-term, just enough to get by for a little while, hence when that cash starts to get noticeably diminished, a sort of "blues" sets in where there's actual "incentive" and the music comes straight from the heart, which cannot happen if one sits in a palace like a king with no worries in the world - for if that should occur that is the end of them as a {true} musician - and they will likely also burn all that cash and end up like so many other has-beens).

Only technology will make any hint of difference. When there are atomizers that can clean any pollution, create any food, reconstitute the body's cells making the intake of food and water purely optional, diminishing today's diseases (perhaps giving rise to newer and maybe worse ones), instantly creating massive floating cities that can go into space, etc., and just plain eradicating any need for laws and any kind of ideology (nano, picotechnology and beyond, that prevents anything like stupid terrorist attacks or "righteous" wars from ever happening), but at that point there will be a massive "indifference" built up over time in the general population, for the only people doing anything will be the geniuses, people with some totally unexpected random thoughts that somehow lead to new things - namely more technology, since that will support any and all things (people, fields of endeavor, other life forms, etc), no matter what those things might or might not be concerned with. So, most of the population will be very bored, and there might be some way that some of them get ahold of a technology that bypasses the "safety net" in operation, whereby re-instituting "control" or "authority" for those that can do nothing more (feel any sne of self-worht if they believe in self worth) than threaten others with weapons or any other wanton debaucherous act.

The thing is, even today only geniuses do anything - change anything, and it's basically technology that does the changing - everything else is arbirtary - ideology - totaly irrelevant to the situation, except to "authorize"/"validate" any actions one might want to take, the ones wanting to take any "forceful" action being the ones that feel inferior to the ones that actually provide "the elements of change" (scientists, and the "blind, bull-headed leader" is government, and the thing that spurns on the power of the government is it telling the people that they have a say - and choosing that government party to rule for now - just so that can happen all over again come election time). Art is fine, it often nurtures the flow of conception to those working in the field of technology, so acts as a sort of balance, or at very least a time for reflection from which may come new ideas, (or just a "rest phase" that allows all the specialization-intensive cloudiness in the head to settle), but ideology/philosopohy/pride can do no more than destroy - period.

So the only way to make world peace is to kill everyone and everything, for even in this imagined future-world, the war will continue inside the individuals that feel like there's nothing to do, no excitement, that they're not contributing to anything, that they're worthless. Well, the thing is they'd be right - everything is worthless and infinitely valuable - only ideology can make any ideas of value come into play; they might not be contributing by way of immediate technological/artistic advancement of the time, but anything anyone does/thinks is a potential catalyst for more ideas - it's just the ideology that binds them to that state of "non-productivity", for without it they might be doing something else - the very thing they're jealous of those very few others of doing - allowing free thoughts to manifest adn letting them develop by themselves, without ideological manipulation/castration before anything is allowed to settle/develop naturally/unabaited, and again, they might never "contribute" as some of the others do even if they don't believe in self-worth (believe at all), but no-one really contributes in the first place - things just happen by some fluke, and there's something else here that wasn't before - jealousy is the momentum created by the vehicle of belief - the accelerator is the stregnth of one's convictions - without that there is no moentum, no distraction keeping everyone looking at the light at the end of the tunnel which doesn't even exist but for the development of their absolute conviction, which is the result of their belief.

World peace wouldn't even need the Technological Revolution to stablize all the clashing if people could just see that there's nothing else to the clashing except the clashing itself, but close to nobody gets this, so it continues...
