Next week, SNR will be hosting a series of races at Monaco - matching the F1 race being held there.

I just finished an exhausting test at Monaco in the Vintage GTO. Not exhaustive, exhausting.
This track will be tough. Practice, practice, practice. I'm still being beaten by the ai cars. The track record is held by an ai GTO. Just to rub salt in the wounds.
Because of the narrowness and the difficulty of Monaco, we'll try a different format. We'll run 3 or 4 heats of 10 laps each. After the 3rd heat, racers can decide in the pits if they are up for the 4th. Our more "annually advantaged" members may be too tired for the 4th heat.
I was easily able to do 10 laps in the GTO with 15 gallons of fuel. I got the fuel warning just before the start/finish line ending the 10th lap. I ran out of gas entering the front straight at the end of the 11th lap.
I've also made extensive changes to my setup as well. Briefly, I have max D/F, shortest possible gearing (all gears full right). I dialed almost all the oversteer out of the springs and roll bar and moved the weight distribution full right (52.5% front).
Springs, 500/550
Camber, -4.5/-2.5
Front shocks, 24.0/25.5
Rear shocks, 29.2/31.4 (unchanged from Lime Rock)
Roll bars, 1.48/1.50
The full forward weight distribution is probably the single most important element. It reduces turn-in understeer and maximizes turn-out oversteer. Both essential for getting around this tight and twisty course. I spent more time in first gear than I spent in bed this week.
This is not a final setup. It's a starting point.
Also needed are "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers" for bouncing off the aramco without stopping. Unfortunately, that part doesn't seem to be currently available.
The chicanes are difficult. Do try to avoid shortcutting them. Rest assured, the management will NOT be watching closely, but do try. And do try to avoid punting the guy in front of you off. (Off??? Where's he gonna' go? Up?) (Are you listening, McG???) And BC, do try to stay out of the kitty litter. (There isn't any, but still ...)
Hopefully, the 10 lap format will allow us mere mortals to keep from being lapped more than once or twice. Hopefully.
If the races are half as much fun as this post has been, they will be great.
