Two turns in and 6 cars collide, heavily.

The first lap of the re-start sees Craig Lowndes spin-off with a suspected Watts linkage break. heh Go Furd.

Steve Johnson is ramming Glen Seaton. Umm... can someone tell him they are both Fords?

Anyway all you Aussies here, it's on channel 10, NOW!!

Question: Don't they all use the same suspension.. I also heard that the use the same differential too.. I think it may have been a Ford one too..

I'd like to watch it, but, work is interrupting.. Here I am posting links to videos, and replying to messages and half of the day has gone by already... Oh well, I'm in a lazy mood today.. Sort of one of those days where you just can't seem to get going, or do much..

I did hear on RPM, just briefly, something about Mitsubishi entering the V8 supercars.. I wonder what they'd enter? The 180kW Ralliart Magna has already been scaring XR8, Commodore SS and Monaros on the road with its very fast acceleration, capable handling and strong brakes, but, it's a V6 though, with standard multi-link suspension, and isn't rear-drive.... I know their is a all-wheel-drive version of the Magna in the works, but, that's illegal too, isn't it, since the Skyline GT-R kicked everyone elses backsides back in 1991 and 1992.. Suprisingly at that time, the biggest whinger about it was Dick Johnson, racing the flawed (it had massive turbo lag) Sierra RS500 Cosworth..

But, Mitsubishi would be one to watch though.. They've dominated rallying for ever so long, and, are just as likely to do the same in other categories..

Back to the question of what they'd enter, I still don't know.. I do think their is a big V8 powered Mitsubishi on sale in Japan, but, its an expensive, opulent, rolling luxury car.. I can't for the life of me remember what it's called..

Well it's Holden 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th with the only Furd in the top 8 being 5th.

The HRT ran first and second, the K-Mart Commodores ran 3rd and 4th all race.
Funny as most were teamed up through out. The Shell Falcons, the Valvoline Commodores, etc. It was like seeing double where ever you looked on the circuit. :look:

Chris : I am not sure about them all using the same suspension but Larry Perkins and others are pushing for the secretly fitted traction extras on some cars (cheats) be made a standard for all V8 Supercars.

Craig lowndes has given new meaning to the Ford (Aust) slogan "we have ignition". ^_^

First lap of race two this weekend in Darwin he blew something in the engine.

Now, in race three, he has set the car on fire. They towed it away but have had to stop the race because of a grass fire where the Furd sat. ^_^

correction:
Sorry, they haven't towed the ignited Furd away. I have just seen it again still in the mid feild.

Lowndes, to put it plainly, was foolish to leave HRT.. True, the HRT organisation has a real ratbag managing it from behind the scenes.. His name? John Crennan.. But, certainly, winning races would be better than what he's getting now..

But, truthfully, I think that Lowndes is a well mannered, easy going young driver, but, well, I think he's not very smart.. He squandered the golden chance offered to him by Tom Walkinshaw to go over to Europe, and race in open wheel categories.. How can someone get such an opportunity and waste it like that.. :slap:

If they are using traction control though, it'd be easy to find out which ones are using it.. Just listen carefully for spluttering/backfiring sounds under hard acceleration, when wheelspin is happening.. Classic trade mark of motorsport traction control devices..

Interesting races :)

The Ford's keep self-destructing all over the place and the Holdens are pretty much bullet-proof.

Poor old Dick Johnson must have deep pockets keeping the to Shell Ford's in parts - and neither managed to finish the last race.

The only Ford's that are going well are the Pirteck Ford's of Ambrose and Besnard. Without them it would be even more one-sided.

It was great to see Jason Bright doing well after so many disappointments in the early rounds.

Well the final race was basically a repeat of the previous. Mark Skaife is unbeatable!!

Holdens dominated the top ten, I think Furds best efforts were 5th and tenth. Marcos Ambrose is their best contender and things should be closer in competition when they drop the new motor in his car which was proven in the team's sister car the Havoline Falcon.

Chris : Yeah Craig was obviously going through some silly decission making. I think it was his childhood dream to race open wheelers and instead he went to Furd. You've gotta ask yourself is that kid on drugs or what? He was unbeatable in the Holden now he's lucky just to finish a race and never gets in the top 5.

There is rumour of Russell Ingall going to Ford but it may very well be a push for a pay rise from Larry perkins as Russell's Castrol/Perkins contract is nearly over.

He's too old to play silly Lowndes games, although I would like them to give Glen Seaton a crack at racing behind the wheel of a Holden.
I hope it is nothing more than a rumour.

Chris: Mitsubuishi cant race in the V8 supercars, they do not sell a V8 RWD sedan, and the rule's state the only Australian built RWD V8's are eligable, i belive they also state that the have to be powered by a 5L cast iron push rod V8 (not sure about that one), and mitsubishi dont make one.

The diff isnt a proper diff, it has one solid axle that go's from hub to hub with a crown wheel in the middle, it is based on the ford 9" housing
